Yeah, it’s probably safe/realistic to think both NRS games are probably out, as well as P4A (since I would imagine BBCP to be taking its place). The question for me is whether TTT2 is in or out, since I’d think EVO always needs a 3D fighter. Oh, and it also seems pretty safe to rule out SFxT too.
Not the biggest Xbox fan. Mainly due to my shitty experiences with the hardware and having to pay for a service I get for free on PSN or other devices (seriously why am I paying $60 a year to use netflix).
I have both so in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t affect me. Still isn’t MS sponsoring EVO now? I kind of assumed thats why they’re making the switch. Don’t blame them for doing so.
Ugh, Xbox…I don’t know what they’re thinking by using Xbox 360 for EVO 2014, unless it’s for Xbox 360 versions of Super/Ultra Street Fighter IV & Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, which I can understand.
Most fighting game fans play those games on Playstation consoles, & the community for genres like fighting games, JRPG’s, and Hack & Slash games (such as the Dynasty Warriors series) are bigger on Playstation consoles more so than on Xbox consoles.
So everyone and their mothers have bought or are waiting to buy ps4’s since release. Now I have to budget and get an xbone to be ready for the next generation in fgc content and experience?
Why not make EVO a year to year sponsorship and let the companies publicly bid for the right to sponsor so we know who is trying to support the fgc…
We are going to have to quadruple mod sticks for next gen because someone decided it’s best for business to keep the hate alive. As a community we are focused the wrong thing.
I think the point I’m trying to make at 530am is if this is all about money which it is, make it worth it to the players and the tos. Lol and StarCraft gamers are sponsored at 5 to 6 figures without having to be funny or hype to stream their gameplay for more income. Think about it, their sponsors and regular tournaments are way more lucrative.
The biggest fgc tournament of the year supposedly and grand prize winner is making under 10k when their international ticket to Vegas is 2-3gs? Travesty. But they get to be twitter famous. Us the 99% are more concerned about what console they are going to lose on.
We all want to be pro gamers but really their are only 40 gamers and tos making any type money off capcom and corporate affiliates… Instead of trying to get past the current quality of sponsorship and trying to move forward as a community we’re fighting over whose stick will work in what console… Only winner is madcatz and those getting paid by them.
Well, I sure hope the Xbone isn’t an EVO standard, but I think people are just assuming it will be because of people shamelessly sucking Killer Instinct’s proverbial dick on account of it being called “Killer Instinct” and for no legitimate reason. So since that’s happening everybody’s thinking the game’s going to be at EVO, even though nobody I’ve talked to wants it to be.
Marvel going to 360 is fine since apparently the PS3 version got ported poorly and had a couple slowdown things that sometimes messed up people’s combos, and I admittedly suspect SF4 is moved to the 360 just to make it a Capcom games thing since I’m not aware of any game-breaking things in the PS3 version of AE or all that. I would imagine though that games like TTT2, KOFXIII, and BBCP will continue on PS3 as the PS3 version of those is either considered the definitive version, or the only version, and were Melee in again, it’d obviously stay with what it is. I forget what the standard for DOA and SCV is, but I think it’s for some reason 360 for DOA and PS3 for SCV.
The standard for NRS games seems to be PS3 (which was kind of amusing when it came to MK9 considering the insanely long startup at the beginning for that), but I’d actually be pretty surprised to see either MK9 or Injustice at EVO 2014, so I don’t think it’s a worry. And while GGXrd will most likely be PS3 and PS4, it’s not going to be an issue since it won’t be out.
When people type xbone in threads I always read it as “X Boan” ROFL
So, I guess MK is out after only being in 3 EVOs ever! The SF community hate MK still, nothing changes. Everyone remember when Justin Wong was trying to play MK? I wonder what happened to the arcade versions of the new MK for Japanese arcades…
Arcades are not a wise investment for western fg developer, and mk doens’t have a market in asia.
Also MK was not “only” in 3 evo’s, it was IN 3 evo’s. It’s not that sf community hates MK at all, the game had its time.
I know a lot of people that want KI to be at Evo. I know a lot of OG guys that live near me that bought the system just for the game. Guys that have the old KI cabs in their houses or still play the emulated game. Some of the people working on the game used to regularly participate and place in Evo tournaments. The founders of SRK even helped work on the game. The game is pretty much a shoe in for this year because there’s no way a game with that much community inner working is not going to be at Evo for one year.
I bought KI because I loved the old games and am tired of paying 60 dollars for games that have shitty netcode and have terrible balancing practices.
I agree that it’d be frustrating to pay $60 for a game with bad netcode, but…I play TTT2, Blazblue, and used to play P4A so…I guess I’m kind of used to having good netcode. shrug
I don’t see that being much different than assuming Sony dumping a massive amount of money into the previous years at Evo. Could be, but there’s no confirmation of that. Plus, people have been asking for Marvel to be on 360 for years and most SFIV majors are run on 360 also AFAIK.
If Microsoft was really dumping money on them they probably could have afforded a better hotel than LVH any way.
Still too many of the regularly established Evo games have poor netcode and I’m not too certain ArcSys netcode lives up to Skullgirls or KI netcode. Probably works, but I don’t know about better. The biggest games at Evo have the worst netcode and that’s pretty sad for having quality chances to practice outside of locals.
Hopefully Capcom, SNK and NRS follow suit soon. Those games bring the most entrants yet have the worst online environment to practice outside of locals.
Speaking of EVO, I just have to say that, I don’t know if the reason that was given for no TTT2 of “It’s the 20th Anniversary of Tekken so they’ll probably put a new game out this year”, despite them having no knowledge for sure and Tekken 7 likely not being for another 2 years makes me want to laugh, or punch a wall for how ridiculously silly it is.
It also had a small turnout last year which already puts it on the chopping block regardless. I’m guessing that was also factored in even if it wasn’t said publically. MK9 didn’t really turn out either so not surprised that’s gone also.
MK9 didn’t really turn out though because most of the top players from it switched over to Injustice, so truth be told, I don’t really think that’s much of a fair comment to them.
