I have real life obligations, so i don’t know if i can make it out to evo this year. My new job is making overtime mandatory and I have not worked there long enough to accumulate vacation. Mars, if ALL YOU WANTED was an offline session why did you have make it public? You could have contacted me via AIM or through an srk board member. I have seen you on GGPO on several occasions, why didn’t you ask then? We could have settled this PRIVATELY. SOMEONE ELSE had to tell me that Mars made a thread calling me out to play OFFLINE. If you would have beat me 30-0 would you still make a thread dedicated to me? I see you beat Ryu1999, 0men, SteveTren but do you call them out to play offline and make threads dedicated to them? We played so many sessions and you never bought up this whole online vs offline, but you brought it up to the whole entire srk community before you did to me?
We used to talk on AIM all the time, you never brought up the whole offline session stuff. Not only that, i remember having a shit load of practice sessions with you back when you were GUYVER and LIGHT OF MARS. Thats how far back we go. I remember training your Guile and showing you videos of Muteki and Kurahashi before you knew who they were! I am not going to lie, i am pretty pissed that someone i was cool with, did such a thing without informing me first, but i will try to keep things civil here.
I think i know what this is about. You played a player who plays very very similar to me on ggpo. I won’t reveal his name because I don’t have his permission to. He plays the whole cast but his shotos and sagat play very similar to mine. You probably mistook me for him. ALOT of people confuse me for him. (we played so many sessions and you never bought up this whole online vs offline, but you bring it up to the whole entire srk community before you did to me?)
(I have not played ggpo in like over a year and have not played ST since Northwest Majors. I barely play st. I used to play a few months in 2k8, i played ALOT in 2k9, then after that i just played sparingly.
FYI Mars, there have been several ONLINE players in both SF4 and ST/HDR that have placed high and even WON major offline events! Alot of people use xbox live and ggpo to PRACTICE FOR OFFLINE EVENTS. If online and offline were a world of difference why are there so many online players who win MAJORs and place high in touranments? examples WOLFKRONE, Kbrad (just won a major beat the evo 2k12 champ Infiltration), Snakeyez (hdremix EVO 2k10 remix champ)so many more players i can’t even mention them.
Not saying you, but I feel alot of players use the online vs offline as a defense mechanism to cover up their losses. Its like having your cake and eating it too. When you are winning online its all good, but as soon as you lose now it comes down to online vs offline. (there are a few instances where the connection is so horrible it is unplayable, if someone is downloading, or they are living 10 thousand miles away but for the most part it is pretty accurate or else PRO players wouldn’t be spending so much time on XBOX live training for events with thousands of dollars involved! Another thing players do, NOT SAYING YOU, but if a player is GOOD online and he screws up at an OFFLINE event, they start making shallow remarks like “he was only good ONLINE!” but if an OFFLINE player goes out early in pools, they won’t say anything! If online is that BAD, then don’t play, SIMPLE. Online losses are still losses, because GOOD PLAYERS ARE GOING TO BE GOOD PLAYERS whether they are ONLINE or OFFLINE. Mentality, decision making, being able to adapt are characteristics you can display both ONLINE AND OFFLINE! The only time I complain about online vs offline is when the connection is over 150 ms, then i feel it is unplayable but anything under that on GGPO is pretty close to the “real deal”
