EVO 2011 Akuma Players

Thanks buddy, much appreciated! 3:00am it is then I guess  lol, I should be awake then

Yo what was up with Tokido today man? I mean, the amount of times I saw him drop the tatsu into sweep and other comboā€™s, was so unlike Tokido. Good job to your man Latif anyway, you uber-patriotic Americanā€™s must be buzzing at that, really strong Viper play from him, awesome! (Sad to see my man Poongko lose, if he hadnā€™t tried to style against Fuudo he MIGHT have won the match, after the stun why try to style :frowning: It just cost him the round)

Anyhow, Iā€™m kinda sad at Tokido man, he seemed to be dropping a lot of links that I never see him drop, and I really doubt Tokido fears from nerves, the guys been on the big stage before a number of times. Same with Daigo, he seemed to dropping a lot of stuff which you never see him do, weird really. Anyhow, this has been the best EVO Iā€™ve seen man, awesome showing and great conveyance of hype. Sick!

This was such a sick evo to watch. I never even heard of Fuudo until now and even the Japanese top players fell one by one to Latif and Poongko.

It seems like neither Daigo or Tokido were on top of their game. Daigo dropped a lot of combos and waaaaaay too many random upkicks. Also with a rebalance coming it isnā€™t looking good for Yun either. I wonder if he will switch mains again.

I want Daigo to pick up Akuma. Iā€™m curious to see how a player of his mentality would handle a character like him and how his playstyle would differ from Infiltration and Tokido. I remember reading in an interview somewhere Mago thinks Akuma is the best character in the game but no-one has yet unlocked his true potential, crazy stuff it seems. Although I was disappointed in Tokido, you let me down biatch!

Am I too salty or does anyone else agree that Viper is too random of a *****?

Random, yes? But she can get too open from her moves. Fuudo proved this.

Bro I agree with you. I canā€™t remember who it was but at one point Latif got something like 8 burn kicks on a row becuase they are just so fucking hard to block. Also, I think they should make them punishable on a block lol, itā€™s hard enough blocking them in the first place so a bit of recovery on them would be nice. But I dunno, I guess she is a very execution heavy character so she has to be?

Much respect to Tokido for ranking 5th with the Raging Demon.

Anyone else under the impression that Daigo and Tokido where on drugs? I mean, Latif played really well and he is a solid player, but Daigo was missing links left and right and so was Tokido (although not as bad). And whatā€™s with those 2000 random wakeup dragon kicks?
Felt really strange watching daigo play that bad after seeing him beasting on Friday and at past tournaments.

And yeah, Viper is random as fuck, but whatever, crybabies are too busy raging against Yun to even notice how strong and retarded Seth and Viper are.

Poongko made Daigo look so freeā€¦seth with 4 bars = strongest character in the game.

Daigo was cracked real bad after his game with Poongko, it was all over by then, not even the beast was able to recover from that beating lol. Tokido also missed some very important tatsu> sweeps and hit confirms into ex fireball which I didnā€™t expect from him, I really think itā€™s because he was up against a Viper, he hates this matchup and I feel he just isnā€™t confident in it.

Viper Vs Akuma was balanced in vanilla IMO, at least Akuma could stun and kill her just as easily as she could. Now Akumaā€™s stun and damage got nerfed while she remained pretty much untouched, sheā€™s like impossible to zone and hits like a God damn truck both damage and stun wise, I donā€™t understand wtf is this bitch doing in a SF game, she belongs in MvC. Execution difficulty shouldnā€™t be an excuse for her, at high level gameplay execution is irrelevant and shouldnā€™t be a factor to decide whether a character is strong or not.

/Salt.

Daigo was in fact not feeling too well Saturday and probably Sunday which could be the cause of him not playing too well, dropping links etc. and before anyone says Iā€™m making excuses for himā€¦grow up.

Also with Tokido, I donā€™t think itā€™s that he didnā€™t like the matchup, he was missing his cr.lk, st.lk, cr.mp into EX fireball which I like NEVER see him miss, not to mention missing the tatsu sweeps on Viper on whom itā€™s fairly easy to connect the sweep. I dunno what was up with them two man, someone spiked their drink I guess :stuck_out_tongue:

I made it out of pool 83. I know Toxy and JR made it out of their pools as well. Not sure of any other Akumas that made it out, but post up if you did!

Watching Tokido makes me proud. I wish he made it a bit further though, but those dropped links started to add up. :frowning:

I was in Latif pool and only lost to him. Out of my pool and in loser bracket I advanced 4 more places before been eliminated. Good thing I could meet Shin and loyalsol

Good job Kineda! Didnā€™t manage to catch you on stream, if you were on I must have missed it because I was half asleep.

Much respect for Shin, Kineda, divino and LoyalSol, congratulations on your wins

Daigo and Tokido played on the after hours stream the night before which was Xbox. Might explain the amount of droppsies in the Evo top 8.

I havenā€™t really played on the PS3 but is the difference between the two consoles significant enough that it can make you drop links?

Yes, the timing is slightly different from Xbox. Youā€™ll definitely drop links, if you donā€™t regularly practice on PS3.

That kinda sucks then, jeez. I thought thereā€™d be a tiny difference but not one that would make you drop links.

Yes I was dropping them for the first day. By the end of the weekend I was nailing my links on the casual machines. 2 frames is actually rather significant if you think about it because most links in the game are 2 frame links. So pressing the buttons with the same timing as Xbox will result in dropped links for most links in the game.

Viper is just such a dumb matchup sometimes, those burnkicks should really be easier to block, or more punishable at the very least. Daigo got hit by a shitload of those and Latif was just throwing them out there. They are focusable but does it really do any good? Iā€™m not sure if you can even duck under with cr.mk. All the air burn kicks are + on blockā€¦

Although the dirtiest mixups in this game come from Seth. Akumaā€™s vortex is good but it seems like Sethā€™s shit is unescapable due to so much ambiguous shit he has along with the spd. Neither of these two need nerfs by any means but Akuma really needs his vanilla damage/stun back, alongside other characters like ryu just to make it fair.
