Yes, HDR always gets mediocre to bad turnouts in locals and even majors. But it was far and away the 2nd biggest game at Evo this year, and there has to be a good reason for that somewhere.
My take: Nowadays, Evo is drawing in a lot of casual/online players who don’t go to local tournaments. Just about all of these people come for SF4, but a good number of them also play HDR.
I think this is more likely to be a permanent thing than a fad; Evo’s main source of exposure before was the Gamestop tourney, but now you can add in the live stream and the IGN deal. I’ve said this before, but I still believe Evo has a real shot at getting 1500-2000 heads just for SSF4 alone; some of these new people will also enter HDR, but hardly any of them will have even heard of Melty Blood.
So yes, in this particular case I would say NEC & Final Round don’t apply. =/

You know every time I say something about cvs2, there’s always ppl telling me"that game is dead move on and shit" I look at them and I see them playing either mvc2 or 3S makes no sense to me. Don’t we have the freedom of speech in this country? Plz don’t hate on the game, I know many ppl outhere like it . I came to the conclusion that ppl that want it dead is ppl that sucked at it.

CvS2 is DEAD and has been for years. 3s and Marvel are less dead, with Marvel being the least dead of the three probably. 3s only really died when SFIV came out
