Been messing around with Yun’s shoulder after watching some Japanese matches, and tried to work out some shenanigans after air-to-air attacking someone. I made a video showing how the shoulder can be used to cross people up, and so far it works on every character I’ve tried, with the only difference being timing. Some smaller characters have a little stricter timing than the big ones. LP Shoulder can be comboed into a full combo, and MP and HP can be comboed into Genei-Jin.

I heard that too… Why is that?

It’s because you can still cancel into Up Kicks with far.st.LK, but not far.st.LP. Actually to be more accurate, it’s so the Up Kicks won’t whiff.

Im not one to usually go for shortcuts but this one is kinda useful imo…
I found that yun’s target combo (lp.lk.mp) and his BnB link combo (cr.shortX2 > st.lp > st.mpxx lungepunch or dragon kicks)
can be one in the same!
What I mean is if u do this:
Cr short x2, St.lp, st.lk, st.mp (at the speed you would do a target combo)
one of two things would happen u will either get the target combo to land and be able cancel the last hit into a special move or you will land the link combo and be able to cancel into a special move… both leave u standing and your opponent on the floor.
If he/she blocks the two cr.short u will have enough time to realize it and finish the block strong with jab shoulder and backdash or a palm feint into command throw.
I dont recommend you learning it this way before learning how to do it the legit way.
Also… what the heck is up with all these Oni’s lol. XBL needs more twins. :sunglasses:

Edit: this does link from a divekick… which is why i love it. dont be afraid to stop mid-blockstring and throw in some command grabs or neutral jump fierce/divekicks… Also beware of srk masher, or ppl who mash through block strings -_- they eat up divekicks for breakfast. Thats all have fun with Yun.

Is that combo character specific? Every time I try to get the target combo from two Cr shorts I’m already pushed back too far away for the target combo to come out.

Yeah it works on everyone, tested it as soon as I found out I could do it.
The way I’ve been able to do it everytime is think of the whole combo as one big target combo.

Great Guide, very useful, also here is the list of characters that after 4 links (for example c.lp, clp, st.lp, st.mp) then finishing it with HK Upkicks whiffs, this is versus standing characters, but when they are crouching it works (as far as I know) so when they are standing stick with MK Upkicks (it works):

I can’t speak for the other characters, but at least vs Ryu, if you swap out the standing strong for a standing short, the combo hits just fine.

Thank you very much for this, I did this link in a ranked match against Evil Ryu and the Upkicks whiffed, it left me mindfucked.

Also, what do you guys use as anti-air other than LK Upkicks? I sometimes use s.mk and works pretty good when at long ranges but at short ranges what should I use?

St.Mp works really well as a close range anti air.

LK upkicks, st.MP, st.Mk and sometimes close st.MK are probably the best anti airs, but Ive been able to anti air far jumps with st.RH and Fierce.

Thought I’d mention this but, if you think a yun or yang is going to dive at you, you can cr,RH at the peak of their jump and anti air them, probably doesn’t work unless its a full dive.

Can someone explain this a little more. Sometimes when i do it, it wont cross up.

Walk forward till you are on opponents body on wakeup, and as your opponent gets up jump forward then LK dive as soon as possible, it should cross up everytime.

How do you combo after crossing them up with jump forward LK divekick? Like the divekick crosses up but it wont combo even if i do a c.lp after?

You have to do it so you aim at waist or lower when you cross them up. Be at their feet/walk forward on their body when they are knocked down, then when they get up just a bit jump forward LK divekick as soon as you reach the height you can divekick from. It will hit them cross from waist or lower and you can combo cr.lp. You can even do set-ups like neutral jump RK divekick into cr.lp which combos. It’s all about timing the dive on the wake-up, and as opposed to many things do not aim for the head!
