Oh details sorry. When/where. AFK?
Haha. Is this place 21+?
I just want to play Marvel with SOMEBODY in person. I’ve never been, I assume it’s 21+… anybody have any other ideas if we have some underage people wanting to play?
Yeah we should try to get some MVC3/SF locals up in the snohomish county : \
We should def get something going to meet up on a weekday night on a weekly/bi weekly basis at this place. I haven’t played Marvel in person in a while now and am having withdrawels. MvC3 online is a totally different game.
PLEASE I NEED weekly Marvel at least LOL
I don’t even both touching Marvel online. that thing is ugly as hell.
The AFK tavern isn’t 21+. It’s all ages if you’re with someone over 18 to supervise. Only the bar area is 21+, and that is on the opposite end of the establishment from the entrance, far removed from the TVs. They’ll let you come in and play whenever. Every time I showed up when I was going, there were some dudes playing SFIV or MVC3 on the big screen on sticks they brought. Just talk to the owners if you want something regular. Kayla is HELLA cool about people trying to bring something different in.
Someone set a date and time and i’ll be down to check the place out. I’m free whenever. I’ve only played marvel at a friend’s though.
Hey guys, in case anyone’s forgotten I’m the guy who operated the arcade machines at Pink Gorilla last year. I still have everything from the arcade in storage and I’m looking for a new location, or multiple locations, for the games. When I heard about AFK I thought it sounded perfect – it’s relatively near me (I’m in Shoreline), run with a total gamer-friendly mentality, has a bar and later hours, etc. The place is massive – too big for what it is now, really – and would be great with an arcade inside. I wrote to them about how I’d love to put arcade machines in there, and they never even responded. I take that as a no.
You never know, though. If you guys are interested in seeing a revival of the old PG setup, you should definitely help me out by letting the AFK people know. If they see that there’s a crowd of people who will come in somewhat regularly (presumably some of whom will buy food/drink) it might help to get them interested. It seems like I wasn’t able to convince them alone.
Just as a refresher, I have ST and Capcom vs SNK 2 in candy cabs w/ Sanwas, MvC2 Showcase with proper controls, many more candy cabs with Japanese shmups and other games in them, several big BEMANI rhythm games, lots of pinball and more. I could get 3rd Strike or other PCBs for the candy cabs as well. Probably not AE since the cost is obscenely high, but almost anything else is fair game.
I’m getting slightly desperate since I’m paying storage fees for all these games and haven’t been able to get any kind of solid interest from a location yet, nor solid interest from anyone who wants to team up and open a place. Any ideas or help are appreciated!
Honestly I don’t think Everett’s a good location for 'em. Not that that’s very constructive or helpful, but I don’t think they’d get the love they need up north.
It’s better than paying to have them sit in a garage… Also, any gamer-themed establishment that’s open til 3am is pretty dreamy from an arcade op’s perspective.
Like Elias said, Everett probably wouldn’t be the right place for them. Also, AFK isn’t as big as you think. They pretty frequently get to capacity in there, especially on weekends. I really doubt they have the room. If you want to get in touch with them though, talk to Kayla Graves on facebook (she’s the owner) and you’ll get a faster response. You can find her on the AFK Tavern “page owners” part a ways down.
I am trying to get a Fight Night going at GameClucks on Thursdays.
We are in Lynnwood.
$3 Venue Fee
3pm - 9pm, if we get 10++ people I will stay open to 10pm if that helps.
Would love to see some action in here for fighters on Thursdays.
People should come out to AFK Tavern tonight! About to enjoy happy hour and some fighting games. Seems like they don’t have super/AE for 360 or marvel for either system. Either an employee checked them out or they were stolen
