The day lady luck shined down on me and my Strider beat out Maximilian’s Strider. I still thank her to this day that he went for Ragnarok instead of Ouroborous…
I survived Level 3 X Factor Ouroboros. I usually suck defensively, but I somehow managed to block every mix up he threw at me. I was on my last character too so I killed Strider at the end when I baited his vajra.
Nothing really in Ultimate but in Vanilla coming back against people with Haggar. Yes, there was X Factored involved but it just felt so satisfying.
Anytime I kill Zero or Dark Felicia.
Also anytime I land hammer or some s.H MFC strings with X-23.
As far as specific moment…probably only since Ultimate where I was able to beat Unknown’s Nemesis team in tournament and force him to switch him. I ended up winning by landing two 2 for ones and laming out XF3 Wesker the second time basically. Anytime I lame out XF3 Wesker (run his XF out then kill him off) that’s like a semi achievement. Not as good as beating Dark Felicia but pretty good.
Next up is hopefully winning local tournament and finally being able to beat DjHuoshen then hopefully if things work out this time do pretty well if I go to Winter Brawl.
I play Phoenix so in one game, this guy killed off my first two characters pretty fast. I only had Phoenix and about 3 meters and I was definitely going to lose. I had to XF through a Magnetic Shockwave just to survive and I somehow killed off Magneto with regular Phoenix with XF. At that time I almost had 5 meters but no XF remaining. Then I managed to finish off his entire team with 0 health DP with no XF. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t derp my way through the fight I actually did legit combos with TK Overdrives and Traps or otherwise he could have just chipped me to death.
I really wish they gave DP more health and removed her ability to XF. She’s so much fun to play, but I don’t get satisfied when I win using her XF bullshit.
I haven’t had any of these moments in Ultimate yet, but in Vanilla I had a couple of moments against DP transformations. My favourite was when it was my Iron Man with 3 bars against a Phoenix with 5. As i’d torn through his team pretty quickly, and he wasn’t the worst Phoenix player ever, I figured running for the rest of the match will only prolong my defeat so I forced her to go dark with my usual IM combo. She turned dark, X factored and started beating the everloving shit out of Tony, but teleported (by mistake I assumed) so threw out a hyper. My instant reaction as the flaming bird approached was to counter with Iron Avenger.
Best moment in Mahvel for me, even if it isn’t the shiniest or prettiest. I knew Iron Avenger had invincibility, so I figured what the hey. Only time I’ve ever actually stood up and shouted “YES!” at a game for a long time.
Any time I actually manage to land a solid hit with Iron Man, realize I’ve gotten a hit, convert to a combo, don’t drop the combo, and kill the other character. This almost never happens because I’m terrible at this game.
I absolutely love mashing certain hypers. Particularly Rock and Roll, Gravity Squeeze and Doom Time, so much that I’ll go all out with both hands and make as much noise as possible, usually while shouting my character’s line.
And my favorite, doing something on the fly (usually a combo) and hoping that whatever it is I’m trying to do will actually work. When it does, I proclaim to the heavens how fucking godly I am, and when it doesn’t work I cry bullshit and say I would’ve won the match had I kept it simple. Win/win for me, player 2 can SUCK IT idgaf
When I first unlocked X-23’s and Trish’s character models! Hours of good fap time.
With my Wolverine down to chip and no meter, I was full screen away from a Dorm with one meter (he had about chip damage left). He used Stalking Flare (The Homing Sun). I super jumped, drill clawed forward, landed, dashed under the Stalking Flare and a jumping Dorm at the same time, crossed to his other side and landed a standing :l: just before the Flare hit me for the win.
Also winning a game over Clockwork. Got a happy Birthday on Doom and Ammy. Though he did Perfect me right after. What’s funny is that no one saw me win, but they sure did see him perfect me.
When I made top 8 (tied for 5th) at a local tournament that had around 50 people in it. It was only my 2nd tournament I had ever entered and I was unsure about my chances. But I was able to pull off some pretty clutch wins (granted it was with Level 3 XFC Dorm) and finish ahead of some players that were clearly better than me. After that I saw my passion for FGs in general grow immensely and I wanted to learn more about the games I played and really divulge into the meta games. Hopefully once time permits I can enter tournaments a lot more frequently (hopefully some majors as well).
- Killed Dark Phoenix as soon as she transformed with Dormmamu’s XFC Dark Dimension, I lost the match to his incoming Sentinel, but who cares. I OHKO’ed dat Phoenix
- Strider reverse OCV, No XF left and all 3 of the opponent’s characters with all their health relatively intact
- SRK PSN Weeklies #3 Extra- OCV’ed both Ryose’s team (Vergil/Dante/Morrigan) and Serris’ Phoenix team (Phoenix/X-23/Nova) both who are really good players…jesus I dominated them. Sorry to say but that was a BRUTAL OCV with Nemesis. Didn’t even give people a chance to breathe.
- Reverse OCV with Zero with no X-Factor. (Zero vs Magneto/Dante/Haggar)
- Pulled an extended Zero/Vergil DHC combo when the arcade had people watching me play, “what game are we playing?”.
- Using Zero since the beginning, no bandwagoning.
- Getting a 15-20 win streak with my old Clockwork team without even knowing how to play with Strider (used Doom rocks
) - Blocking some guy’s Viper really good. I blocked one of those ex Thunder Knuckles into EX Burning Kick the 3rd or 2nd time I saw it. Fake overheads were hard.
)One time I started a Hulk combo with an :l: instead of an :h:. It was a glorious day.
I ToD’ed a Hulk in casuals yesterday from an air-grab at the start of a match without using XF, TAC, DHC, or THC. Felt pretty good.
My character needs a nerf.
