Europe scene : tournament and info

Hey everyone, a couple years ago, I was trying to push a new website called Fighting Games Europe but couldn’t get people to sign up there as every community has its own forums and sticks to talking there with their native language. I was also kinda frustrated that Europe didn’t really have its part on these forums.

Maybe, this topic will put a bunch of us together. I’m an admin of Czech Arcade, so obviously coming from the Czech Republic

We’re currently planning to go to Vienna in January and WGC on March (if that fails, the backup plan is to visit Amsterdam (RFD2, iirc)).

Also, anyone idling on IRC?

Same here for me that musikgenius said. Also, I’m having trouble trying to get on your guys’ IRC channel, what’s the actual server URL for QuakeNet?

Nevermind, I’ve managed to track down your group’s irc channel. You guys seem to be afk at the moment though…

Regarding the IRC, I was curious if your communities have their own channels. However, you’re always welcome on our #czecharcade @ QuakeNet (np to chat in English, but you’ll encounter people talking Czech there too, of course :)). There’s also #fgceurope channel on QuakeNet network, too, but sadly, there’s not a lot of discussion going on.

Anyone have experience with playing in international tournament s that can give some advice about the events

What kind of advice are you looking for?

Just how to deal with language barriers, what set ups are used. Mainly the language barrier and what to expect?

Setups vary from tournament to tournament. Some are played on X360s, some are played on PS3s. Do you have a local scene in your country? (Also, which country?)

I know of some scenes here in Italy. I am originally from the States so this is all new to me.
