Since I noticed a couple questions as of late asking for simple BnBs for Shuma, hereās a video I got with a few to start with.

None of those combos are as optimal as the ones I postedā¦and as close to the corner as the āmidscreenā bnbās started, they couldāve just gone into the corner combo on each one lol.
I wasnāt really looking for optimal, I was going for simple. There have been a couple posts in different forums about basic easy Shuma BnBs so I figure these are plenty easy to start with and have a half screen carry to get your opponent to the corner. Donāt get me wrong, I know these arenāt even close to optimal. I just figured I throw the videos on here in case someones looking for simple starting combos.

Iām not the best shuma player at all⦠Iām just getting down charge partitioning. My bnb is similar to everyone elseās but iāll tell you that unless you learn slowly with good habits, there will always be an execution barrier in your play.
Learn the optimal stuff slowly and eventually youāll be able to do them in your sleep. Youāll also be able to make adjustments for strategy hits and keep them semi-optimal based on conditions. Learn three or four combos (sj, grab/command grab, midscreen, and corner) and youāll never look back.
I need good XF3 combo suggestions - anyone have them?

Some synergy with Shuma and and Spencer. You can use Spencerās horizontal grapple assist for Shuma and get some midscreen stuff going. New? Old? Practical?
(Yes I know the combo isnāt optimized, you donāt have to tell me)
Since Shumaās combos appear to have so many nuances, what should I be learning to work in first? When I see Shuma combos, I see jump loops, Mystic Stare links, linking H into other normals, and other cray cray stuff. I am not consistent with any of that, but I like the character enough to learn.

After Angelicās showing at Evo Iām seriously looking at Shuma. Iād really appreciate an updated OP or some notations for optimized combos, Iāve been reading through the thread but itās tough to piece everything together from scratch. It looks like Shumaās combos are similar to Stormās, where you have a ton of different options and its just a matter of finding the ones that cause the least hitstun decay.
Good luck finding combos for any character. Thatās the only thing stopping me from learning half the cast- the fact that every characterās combo thread is straight garbage and not updated since before Christ was born.

So Iāve been trying to play Shuma and umm real talk. I want to kill myself. His combos are confusing as shit and itās not the charge timing thatās easy itās every thing else?
Would anyone be willing to help a poor soul out?
Iām having trouble doing the mystic ray into mystic stare at the very end of combos. I canāt tell if Iām too late or too early and itās seriously a bitch haha.
I should be using ray m and stare m too right?
Also what do you guys do for midscreen command throw/regular throw combos?
Finally why does Tonosama do the combos that he does? The standing :l: doesnāt seem very efficient at all. Do they go farther or build more meter?
Just thought I would mention, I find that doing Cr.:h:, j.:h:, :l: j. Mystic Smash is a lot easier and more damaging than just doing

Iām talking about the part in brackets. I was practicing it this morning and I did it 5 times on each side. Then I came home after a few hours and I couldnāt do it anymore.

, and in my opinion youāre better off just jump cancelling the cr :h: into j
:h::u::h: and then into launcher. The distance traveled to the corner and damage are barely different, and my version is much simpler to execute.

Iām usually pretty good with it but Iām dumb inconsistent occasionally.
I can practice it for like 30 minutes and then Iām good for a while but if I donāt play for a day or two then my timing goes to the toilet and I have to keep practicing it and it really turns me off. The main trouble comes with the height at which I hit sj :h::s: depending on how long I take with that my timing on the ground screws up.
Will doing mystic ray
help? I tried it out and there wasnāt much of a difference.

Sorry for not answering your question properly before.
When Iām going the j. :h::s: I actually hold :d: the moment I connect the :s: (I may be over-thinking but I also let go of :s: right as it connects so I donāt get an incidental exchange) . From there I do a quick 2-count in my head and press up :h: , immediately holding
during the Mystic Ray animation, slamming the sick :f: for the Mystic Stare :l: as the eyes explode.
Another thing that helps is just practicing Mystic Ray into Mystic Stare, even if it doesnāt connect. That way youāll have the timing so that when the eyes explode and give you the extra hitstun, youāll have the motion and time down to connect the eyes.
