if anyone needs help against sagat I’m down to play :3
whoops, ya I messed up my wording there. Never pick U2 against Dud.
Dude. First rekka is -4. There’s no way it’s out of C.LP, S.Lk, C.MP ranges.
I’m pretty sure It’s also not a block string.
First rekka also randomly whiffs on Elena in combos.
This matchup is so bad for Poison. All you have to do is stand there. You outpoke her, ignore her fireballs, and anti air her completely free. Elena’s throw range is also significantly larger than poison’s.
nvm
dp
poison’s love me tender is so annoying. it’s basically a better (but slightly slower) jaguar kick.
-can’t focus (armor break)
-can’t low profile (not even juri c.mk)
-due to elena’s floaty jump, can’t preemptively jump + punish
-stuffs regular dp
-can’t get air reset when poking w/ stand hk (followup automatically grounds you)
-usually can’t beat it w/ normals on reaction (s.lp occasionally works, s.mp get stuffed, c.mp gets beat), at best you can air reset her for 30 damage
-will occasionally trade w/ reaction ultra 1 (elena loses the trade and does 60 damage to poison)
-between -1 and +3 on block
-does ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY damage w/ followup
+ex scratch will beat it, but you rarely get all the hits
+u1 will beat it if you hit early enough / the spacing is right
i actually think this match is a pain in the ass for elena. sure you can slide projectiles, but since her recovery is pretty fast you have to commit really early. it’s a lot like how gouken’s fb is really hard to punish for many characters. also she probably has the best ex projectile in the game (9f startup, 29 recovery; better than even ryu ex fb) + free juggle on airborne. it’s a really strong whiff punish tool.
midgame, fine, elena can do some stuff (sweep, mk overhead, c.mp), but ex mallet is a huge risk because poison has a 3f c.jab that leads to stuff. the only move you can actually use safely is hp mallet which gets stuffed free by any normal she has.
rekka is def. unsafe, even if the blockstun is misleading. c.jab -> c.mp should punish.
i don’t know, i really struggled in a set yesterday v. poison. her focus is also crazy, especially since you have to commit to laggy one-hit normals to pester her (you have to sweep from time to time, otherwise she just stand blocks for 99 seconds and you never actually hit her).
i basically had to resort to going for straight time outs every round, standing just outside of elena’s c.mp range, and backdashing all love me tender’s until i had ultra 1 stocked because nothing would beat it.
3/4 of the screen away from claw you can crouch his U1 and even punish him with Brave dance.
He should really not be doing that just cuz he feels like it so.
Dan: Elena’s Standing RoundHouse can stop his dankayaku easy.
lol
dan cannot even HIT crouch blocking elena w/ dan kicks
try it yourself
Thanks will add when i get to poison
Thanks will add to vega
Lol no kidding will add
Who marked my post off topic? How is saying you shouldn’t gameplan against complete tards off topic? Why, seriously, would you include anything regarding random bloody high claws in a matchup thread?
cause srk is dead
Just encountered this:
Juri - Watch out when doing cr.LP, cr.LP, cr.MP xx EX Mallet Smash. If you were at point blank when you did this, it’s still possible for Elena to cross over to the other side of Juri. Other ways of making sure you don’t cross over, like doing cr.MK and then cancelling into EX Mallet, also don’t work on Juri, you’ll still cross over.
Rose’s focus attack does to low to be hit by EX Rhino horn. Juri’s as well (just not on the first few frames)
Gotta say I enjoy the Viper mu. It’s delicious. Every whiffed viper move is like a pull from the finest wine.
What are people doing to Fuerte on hos kds? I usually use some setup to limit his options but nothing like that on Elena so far. Watching to RH is really risky and it’s slow anyway. I’ve let him go too many times for my tastes.
discovered in last set in Endless
vs Decapre
-probably been mentioned already, but Brave Dance goes through Decap’s U1
-you can, with a little luck, bait her U2 by focus back dash cancelling a failed ex.Lynx Tail
let me know if you need proof
Should probably post the SS EX FADC cross over reset shenanigans she has in the character match up sections it applies. I like to pull up match up notes on my phone before tournaments, and knowing that I can do that trick against a Cammy and possibly end the set early could save me from going home early.
I think any character-specific shenanigans that can be done to them or go against you should also be in the match up notes. I also think each character should have general gameplans outlined… both our gameplan against them and what their gameplan will be against us. I used to rely on that shit constantly in 3S because playing against a character like Makoto was literally like playing a completely different game. (i.e. http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Elena_(3S)#Vs._Makoto )
Not busting balls, I know that it’s all in early stages and whatnot, just saying where I hope this all goes eventually.
I need to lab up the Seth match. Seems like it will be a bad matchup for Elena. Too floaty of a jump to air to air Seth, nothing to cover top of her head without meter, can’t build meter full screen safely. Granted, I’ve only played two Seths (who honestly weren’t great) but I can see how it could be difficult for her.
I need to play more against Hugo but at this point I think it’s slightly in Elena’s favor. Good enough walk speed to reliably whiff punish, good anti airs with or without meter, can play extremely passive aggressive and win with no problems.
I find it interesting that you say that because the combination of his long focus, even longer reach, high single damage pokes and command grab seem to make Elena’s passive and Elena’s aggressive styles both very risky. Command grab characters in general seem to not be very good matchups for her, in my mind.
