that’s good to hear!
https://budget.house.gov/publications/report/president-trump-s-extreme-budget-cuts-hurt-veterans
As someone who works for the va. Trump was only successful in getting our union reps out of the building and making it harder for the employees to do our jobs.
But hey info wars right?
So they been using veterans as lab mice during covid using hydroxychlorquinine
c’mon son. They’ve been using military members as guinea pigs LONG before Trump got in office. The only difference now is that Orange Man = Bad so they must lay anything and everything at his feet.
As for that top article…
Blockquote President Trump’s latest budget fails our veterans and their families by drastically slashing crucial programs they rely on. This President prioritizes the rich and powerful over the well‑being of American families, including our veterans. Just like his prior budgets, he extends the failed GOP tax law that showered benefits on the wealthy, adding $1.5 trillion more to debt over the next decade – exacerbating the $1.9 trillion hole it blew in our deficit. The President extends these tax breaks largely for the rich all while maliciously cutting programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and other crucial programs. Destructive cuts to these programs hurt millions of veterans and their families who depend on them for their health, safety, and economic well‑being.
I ain’t saying they’re biased, but they sure do sound it.
I’m not even going to look at the New York Times. I feel about them the way you feel about Infowars.
For a second I’m gonna go back up to a few of the ones listed in that snipet. He’s cutting up SNAP?
I gotta get my girl booty bump in here now.
You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for someone to do that one. SNAP is being abused left, right, and center. CUT IT DOWN TRUMP!! CUT THAT SHIT DOWN!! Now, cutting medicare and medicaid? I didn’t know that was a Military family problem. I didn’t even have either one until I was forced onto it by,“The affordable Care Act”. I don’t even use either one and I’m getting ripped up each month for money that is primarily going to illegals more than anyone else. If he cuts up those programs, then so much the better. If the cheese ain’t there the rats won’t come, And yes this is coming FROM a Veteran. I’ve said it before in the other thread and I’ll reiterate: It used to be MUCH worse getting an appointment previously. In the last 2 or 3 years I’ve been able to get in, get seen, and get down the road a lot faster and easier than ever. You’ve got your proof, I’ve got mine. As A customer, I give it a better review now than I have been. Can they improve? Yes. The thing is, they have already improved and I’ll give credit where it is due.
Lol you definitely need to live off the grid
I recommend costa rica since you seem like the type
Thank god you are out of the gene pool though.
It is good to see how trumpset sees things
if you mean correctly, then it’s a good thing I’m here.
So @dab00g, I’ll address this one with you since a) I’m not familiar with the inner workings of the VA while you say you are, and b) you seem to think the staff of the VA are constantly getting reamed.
I had a conversation with someone that for all I know could end up being your boss in the VA or on that same tier. They seem to paint a different picture, as quoted:
[redacted] entry level public sector workers are easily the most entitled
doodads i've ever had to deal with
[redacted] they're clerks, and they want more paid time off for free
[redacted] you already get 96 hours full paid sick, 200 hours paid
vacation, 320 hours part pay sick 65%, 640 hours part pay
sick 50% per year and you still want more? what the fuck
Your rebuttal?
I work in the pharmacy. I have it in the heads of staff we are here to serve the veterans and being shitty gets you into shitty shifts and we have high turnover from people who think the world revolves around them.
Usually they quit for not being able to handle the workload.
I already detailed how much management does not care for the safety of staff or our veterans in the covid topic.
What are you saying? That people should be happy with their benefits even with the shit treatment from management?
With union being ushered out. Everyone from nurses to doctors to janitors are being forced into working ungodly hours. And being threatened and given awol when they are unable to go to work even while put on quarrentine
Your conversation with some nobody is reflective of what?
We have to go through tremendous hoops to actually use our annual and sick leave because management does not want us off
This is a major reason why i am leaving the current va i am at for a position at dhs.
Well that and money. But really i have had enough of the bs here.
You hAve no pushback on how shitty the va is from me. You will get pushback on any of my co workers being lazy or entitled
The way I see it, legally, you only really need to work like, 20 weeks a year at most, to still manage half-pay for the entire year. I know that’s likely never going to happen in practice (likely due to someone being called out for abusing this, though again, with government work, I have to wonder).
The amount of benefits this looks like to someone working private sector (i.e. me) sounds downright sickening. MOST public sector jobs don’t get to see more than the first two parts, and never at that amount. To break it down in weeks, an average worker probably would normally work about 51 weeks a year after holidays are counted in. The above claims that you, a VA worker, get the following in a 51-work-week year:
5 weeks vacation (100% pay)
2.4 weeks sick (100% pay)
8 weeks sick (65% pay)
16 weeks sick (50% pay)
That means for 31 out of the 51 weeks a normal person would work, you can get away with half-pay OR MORE.
To compare, a typical private sector job will likely give you, at best:
1 week sick (100% pay)
2 weeks vacation (100% pay)
That’s it. Some businesses might give you another week, and/or time off at 0 pay, but …don’t you think what is given from the government job is a bit egregious? I imagine that MORE than counterbalances horrid work conditions, all things considered.
And keep in mind, we’re talking ENTRY LEVEL.
What the…If I find out that VA work can be counted towards one’s pension, I’m gonna go a huntin for a job. I think I can stick it out for a few years with THAT kind of incentive.
As a vet your route to a federal job is easy af.
I would do it if you want to.
You earn leave but cannot use it and unused annual is not carried over year to year or paid out.
You can save up to 240 hours a year but it never carries over
But hey slave wages is what any fed should get right
Slave wages where I only gotta work half the year? Decisions, decisions…
My experience with government workers is that most are entitled and incompetent. Which is why they get contractors (like me) to do their work for them.
When I started my job at the base I’m at, I was ASTONISHED at the low competency levels of the government workers. And they all have what we like to call “Fed Head”. Meaning they feel like they are superior to the contractors because of their job security and benefits.
I swear to god, I run circles around these assholes. Because I actually got an education and 15 years experience in my field. And I’ve set up my own job security through building a GIS database that none of the gov’t people will even take the time to learn… because I’m here to do it for them. I’ve also established very good relationships with these people. I know how to make them feel good about themselves and not insult their low intelligence.
But it really is sickening how some of these gov’t people get so many fucking benefits, job security, insane pension plans, days off, etc, and do so little work.
And after all that, I’d totally accept a gov’t job if one was offered. You’d be stupid not to.
Oh, as an example- childcare services on base for a month come to about $300 for a gov’t employee. That same service is $1,000 for me. Because I don’t have .civ at the end of my email adress.
You can understand then why a lot of people would have so little sympathy for their plight, all things considered. The massive benefits seem to greatly outweigh the working conditions, and the few that are legitimately wanting to do work and getting screwed over by their peers probably shouldn’t be there in the first place.
That is absolutely my experience with them.
I work for DOD though. Not sure how it is elsewhere.
The above quote I listed was someone in the higher tiers of the VA.
The entitlement that I see happens around 12 - 14 level. Not entry level.
Cynt sees it. I do too.
Again though i work in the actual medical side i work in the pharmacy where work never stops
They told me i would be awol even though i am quarrentined
They told me a whole lot of bullshit that i won money for.
As far as the administrative and office workers yeah i can see them being entitiled lazy shits
But as far as the nurses, doctors, pharmacy, janitors
We are putting work in, being refused any kind of leave, and being treated like worker drones
Yeah you can shit on the administrators and the office people
But us in the hospital. In the front line.
Nah that is fucking stupid.
Also it is not that we working in the hospital can even take that time off
I agree the va is fucked. The way administration treats employees and patients is aborrhent no matter the changes i made or my battles with management nothing changes
This is why i am heading over to dhs because fuck it better hours. Better pay. Back on that law enforcement deal…
Also you go ahead and hate the beuracrocy
But the hospital workers are doing the work.
I myself hate management because of their stupid plans to save face instead of keeping everybody safe
Equating a clerk with a spot that cannot be got rid of to a healthcare worker doing it because we want to help and then being fucked when it comes to getting covid and all that
Nah.
Fuck the va and their shit policies
I would say more. But you are right on the money about those who work in the administrative section.
