Joe Biden Snags Endorsement from Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti

Garcetti said in a statement:

Democrats are blessed to have such an extraordinary field of candidates, but I will never forget what Joe Biden has done for my city and our nation. We need Joe Biden to bring our nation and world together during these most divided and dangerous times.

Here’s the thing with this though: those are jobs, granted a lot of wholly unnecessary jobs, but jobs. It’s kind of like how if the tax code was simplified, companies like Turbo Tax, and a lot of tax preparers would go out of business because people could do their taxes themselves. We have a lot of fields where their penchant for complication is part of why there are so many people working in them.

I see a lot of ā€œget your degree in MEDICAL BILLINGā€ not medicine, not anything related to research, but fucking BILLING, commercials and that’s how you know something needs to be trimmed. When something that should be incredibly simple is so complicated that it’s an entire field unto itself. I don’t suspect that’ll change though unfortunately, if only because that complicatedness allows companies to squeeze extra money out of their customers and because no politician wants cutting jobs on their record. I’d love to be wrong though, especially as someone who was screwed by insurance billing in the past because I didn’t know any better.

that would potentially affect my contract as well if we ever did go to a single payer system.

Biden is easily the safest choice of nominees for the Dems. Not the best, but the safest.

Tell me more about that, you’ve had issues with your medical coverage before, no?

So wait, that tweet was REAL??

yes, I had Medicare for many years before I went back to the workforce 4 years ago. Our old plan we had under my wife’s employer went up to near $450 a check for her, so we ended up having to get an HSA for this year. My meds went up from $30 to I think $120-$130 monthly under this new plan.

Man that’s crazy. My premiums for my insurance almost doubled year before last when Trump was on his Obamacare bullshit, but thankfully I had a lot of write-offs so that helped. But my fiancee had her Nexium jump to about $500 a month under her new plan and I have no idea why that would be.

There’s too much bullshit and alchemy going on in the health care industry for something that’s as important as it is.

That’s a weird reason to leave everything fucked up and dysfunctional.

I agree, but like I said, no politician wants to face an opponent saying, ā€œThis clown KILLED JOBS!ā€

You can actually do your own taxes though. For most people it isn’t even difficult. The tax industry just let’s them think it is.

But you can’t do your own insurance authorizations and medical billing. That work just exists so that, if it costs the people at the top X dollars to employ a bureaucrat, they can charge you $X+1 and add the extra to their bottom line.

And it’s not just the professional billing specialists who are tied up in this stuff- it’s your doctors, nurses, and their support staff time sinking into the bureaucracy too. And securing insurance authorizations is not remotely the best use of time for someone whose expensive education revolves entirely around keeping people alive.

Well you make appointments online or go early.

Also for the dmv you can do tons of stuff online or through the mail.

Also they have kiosk for registration renewals and you could go to aAA which i do and have

Yeah, I’ve actually had pretty good experiences with DMVs. I know the reputation, but luck of the draw I guess.

I mean literally trump got places shut down because bullshit policies and promises. He is facing nothing.

As far as billing. When i worked retail pharmacy there were things called tars and pers and special exceptions.

Things i would have to apply for online with medical justifications so that the medications would be covered.

I felt shitty telling people it was denied. But i would also ask for alternatives.

But then people have advance cancer and wanted new expensive drugs they could not have.

Working at the va and everything is covered and we are not driven by profit or anything like that. Just providing service to our veterans.

I feel better this way.

The one time I had to go to the DMV here in Nashville I was in and out in 10 min. I think it depends on how well thrncrwnches you go to are run, where they are, and what time of day you go.
