Election Thread V2.2: Open Up Them Cheeks to the Economy

Yeah… I’m not really worried about that kind of thing. My post that you quoted was intended to be funny.

How about…

It’s probably not a bad thing to be conscious of. We create so much metadata through even the most innocuous actions on a computer or smart device, and that’s really a much bigger issue than stuff like Alexa.

Granted, the missus loves her Alexa devices, and while I’m not enamored with them, the more I’ve learned about them, the less threatened I am by them.

I unplugged my Alexa after she kept interrupting my conversations with my wife. Fuck that rude-ass bitch. Plus, she kept bogarting my Bluetooth connection to my sound system when I wanted to listen to music. Fucking BULLSHIT.

I deleted my Facebook account after the election when a bunch of my friends blamed me for Trump winning because I refused to support Hillary. The whole reason I signed up was for the LOLs and to get away from all the politics. That wasn’t working out anymore so I cancelled it, focusing all my online interaction to SRK instead.

Amazon
is a massive corporation
says it “pays every cent owed”

yeah I’m gonna press X on that one
These companies use every possible loophole and workaround to minimize or straight up avoid paying taxes. If videogame publishers do it then sure as fuck Amazon does it as well

The reason it isn’t a revelation is because mainly right wing sources have been saying it for months. The major reason I’m posting it is for the lolz, but the serious reason is because now more and more people are starting to understand that we cannot just stay locked down until a cure is found.

for anyone who didn’t think this “Contact tracing app” wasn’t going to be abused…

Yep. Beanie man again. Raise your hand if you DIDN’T think this was going to be used against the public.

This and Biden’s gaffe are great examples showing comedy is an art form

For those not wanting to sit through Mumen Rider’s video:

Copy of the Privacy Report listing all of Care19’s flaws.

Basically there is a unique ID generated in the State’s contact tracking app and it was passed on to location services in Foursquare and Google’s Firebase services. The app uses those services for nearby places in the app. There is also the phone’s advertising identifier that is also submitted to Foursquare. It was also sent to BugFinder to document app errors. Given the type of service, Foursquare states it doesn’t collect the information and they immediately “discard” it. I don’t trust a firm stating that they “discard” data as it is still valuable and ridiculously easy to store.

I doubt the State intended to share the data with those organizations given the privacy agreement. It’s likely that the app was built off of an existing codebase and just repackaged for North Dakota with a nice name. The State didn’t do it’s due diligence to perform a security audit of the app before public release. There is fault on the State here, but I don’t think this is in the same way that is being alluded to in the title.

Can’t forget how Amazon wanted NYC to give them tax breaks meant for the poor as a bid to open a second HQ there only to get denied (thanks AOC :+1: ) , cry foul, say that NYC blew their chance and then…open up their second HQ there.

Sanders and Yang were calling out Amazon on their bs as well. Good to see Biden join in.

If the law allows for those loopholes. Then they do pay their fair share…

If the law allows me to lay zero dollars, then I’m paying my fair share when I pay zero.

They arent wrong, and people should be livid against the political class. But they arent, and they won’t. Becauae proppe are stupid and easy to misdirect. That’s why the political class in this country dont have to follow the law, and do whatever they want. Becauae they know they can just point at corporations as the bad people, and have people overlook that it was the political class that willingly took their bribes.

But hey, I’m sure the corporations are the rea bad guys anyway. Not the peoppe that accepted the bribes.

The thing about coalitions is that it makes it harder for one party to stonewall the other.

It also lessens the sports-like mentality of the bipartisan system. Sure, you still get it to some extent, but it’s easier to get things done when you can sway another 2 or 3 parties to your cause.

Last I checked, Stands don’t work like that. :upside_down_face:
