Back in vanilla I could not reach the last trial. So today I decided to try the RSF trial and I managed to do it after 15 mins of trying, on a pad!

Ok so what changed with throw teching…? Why am I getting thrown when I would have teched in vanilla? There’s been times where I’ve even been mashing it and still get thrown.
edit: and is there any way to prevent running in the corner from not letting you cancel the run…? pisses me off when i’m running full screen smashing trying to cancel the fucking thing.

Wall dead input zone was confirmed earlier. Shit sucks and doesn’t make sense sudden stop is in both runs and should not be lost. .

I could understand a few frames when switching from back to forward.
Or maybe. You know. Just stop a run when fuerte hits a wall during backrun. I don’t care if we lose the 4-hit super armor thing. It doesn’t come up anyway.
It’s probably not as bad as I said, but it’s definitely not as good as I was hoping. They could have made this character good with just a few small changes and they decided to purposefully keep him in the bottom 5. The developers said it in just that many words in the blog.
I was really looking forward to them fixing this character but I really think that they make him bad on purpose because the majority of players wouldn’t enjoy a game where fuerte was a good character. It is a universal truth that noone enjoys losing to el fuerte, it’s funny to watch people’s faces on streams when they are losing to a fuerte, they are constantly rolling their eyes and sighing audibly.
Anyway the main reason I am overreacting is that they changed all the setups for safe tortilla, dash 3x then tortilla doesn’t work the same anymore so now I have to go to the lab and come up with all new setups. I was kind of hoping that I could xcopy my fuerte setups from the old game but most of them don’t work the same anymore. Once I have made new setups and tricks then I think he will actually be slightly better than before, the problem is so is everyone else, so in the end we will settle at the bottom of the list again, and we really didn’t get anything to consistently help with the really bad matchups. Akuma and rufus will still completely clown us. Only thing we have against them that we didn’t have before is random ultra and hope they pushed a button right then. Not really a consistent winning move.

What do you guys do to prevent negative edge on the run cancel starting another run? Learn to hold down button longer? Is it just not a problem for others and I’m a total idiot?

I am EXTREMELY happy about Fuerte and SSF4 all together.
I bought a copy for ps3 and I’m loving online play, there are so many good connections, different players, different playstyles and they all get raped by the EXTREMELY fast and damaging US
US was all Fuerte needed, The Guac damage boost was helpful too.
Just hk guac after tortilla or hab dash next to their corpse, I never understood the “I have to dash after tortilla because its the most consistent way” Its ridiculous, just use guac.
Losing tortilla as a constant use weapon just means we have to mix it up more. Just gotta setup another recipe.

Lk guac is still a good meter builder. Qbomb seems to be packing more use and seems slightly safer so right now I’m good.
Now what I want to know is… Where can we use friggin focus attacks. I still haven’t been using them.

I’ve thrown it out on some online fights, but I don’t know if that means anything. I’ve been trying to use Focus Attacks more often, but it’s hard to do on anything that’s not a sweep on reaction.
Why are you using negative edge for runs in the first place? I could understand negative edge when charging qbomb to negtive edge a guac. But why run?
Oh, I’m not intentionally using negative edges for runs. Sometimes I’ll cancel a run, but it’ll start another run because of negative edge – it lost me a match today (I expected to stay stopped to block/punish but I ran into the attack).
That negative edge run issue is a common source of grief to a lot of fuertes as far as I know, including myself. It has cost me more than a few matches in vanilla SF4, especially at the beginning when I was not aware of it. Many of us were hoping it would be fixed in Super, but it wasn’t The best advice I can offer is to always be mindful of it, and try not to run in a way to cause it to happen too often, and hit multiple stops when you think you did it. Easier said than done, but we have to deal with it
Edit: And a couple of days ago I lost a round to a Guile because of this issue. I thought the run will not stop even though I hit cancel, and Guile just activated his random desperate Sonic hurricane. So I thought I will just go through it using splash invincibility and end the match, but what happened is that Fuerte actually stopped when I canceled, so he ended up doing a st.mp in the face of the ultra instead and eating it. If I knew the run has stopped, I could have easily blocked, but because we have this negative edge issue, confusions like that happen to me which is very annoying.
Yeah all too often when the opponents ultra flash is going on, I’ll be wondering if I already stopped or not haha.
I think what I’m going to try and do to get over the negative edge thing is to just hold lp a bit longer when I use it to cancel a run. Quickly canceled runs can be nice to keep the opponent on their toes, but only if the runs are successfully canceled haha
reason that people dash after is because before, that was the best way to consistently position it without any chance of a timing error. Now it might be better to guac, i dunno yet.
