Edmonton Thread - 2012

Your one of the better people I have played

Plenty of competition in Marvel here…maybe if SfXTekken wasn’t such a snoozefest more players would have picked it up.

need some worthy competition for kof, whoever has it add me up on psn and let’s get some matches in… my hwa is a fucking menace

Good because we could use some more KoF players. lol I’m just happy that the connection between us was very smooth.

Stop playing bad games larry

• The rollback is a feature in Street Fighter X Tekken’s netcode that rewinds the game to an earlier state.

• Ryu might have a punch attack that takes 12 frames of animation to complete. The netcode uses these fixed frames to rollback the game and get it resynced while you’re playing. This helps “hide” latency or desyncs that may occur.

• For example, it will skip ahead 2-3 frames while Ryu is throwing a punch attack, as needed, to help ensure your muscle memory for combos and other things function more like they would if you were playing offline. Basically, the game works hard to stay synced to a “master clock” if you will, despite any hiccups or problems with user’s internet connections.
• One of the artifacts of the rollback is that there are skipped frames, and certain moves have their sounds play during those frames. For example, if Ryu’s fireball sound plays on the 3rd frame of animation, but that frame happens to be skipped — the sound won’t come out.

• The development team has figured out a solution for this and there will be a fix.

• Seth noted that the rollback netcode was implemented for players outside of Japan, as in Japan, they have a much better internet structure and the size of their country is considerably smaller than most others — and the netcode isn’t as big of a deal there, as it is in the U.S. and Europe.

don’t knock it until you try it… for like 2 weeks. =)

Capcom was thinking of me, when they lowered the execution of these games. lol

shout outs and respect to all the edmonton guys that came down to calgary just to play.

raiden, much respect bro.

glad to see some people help support CCG.

peace

edit:
fucking bee, taking my fight money.
next tourney, i’m gonna snipe you back.

Or should I say… bad games for a bad player… ahaha.

i don’t mind the lowered execution. but they implement a lot of things that make the game not fun to watch or play.

It’s bad to be back in Edmonton. We need a sweet venue. Who here works at a bar / or pub that has live music? I’m thinking somewhere on Whyte.

Well as thing are, we have a influx if new players that are looking for a place to play, OK is the best choice but they wont reduce their prices, I’ve talked to other venues and pretty much they all come down to this, If we pay $5.00 then we bringing our own stuff… That isn’t a issue for me. I don’t really have a problem bringing an xbox and some games for a wednesday or w/e day of games we decide on.

Outside of that, I talked with RSX about some things they have been doing out east for help grow their scene. They have a “under dogs” tournament, that I think is pretty cool. Basically their top players do not enter the tournament but show up an judge and or help new players improve. They have turn outs that go from 30 for an normal tournament to 60+ when they are saying “hey this one is for the new guys” I don’t see any reason we couldn’t do something like this.

We could run a “Salty Sundays” and have it be casuals for everyone and just a free to play tournament for new players. If we can not find a venue then that is fine, I can host the shit from my house. Either way, we can not ever exact to grow as a scene if people either

[] Assume we are a dead scene and spread the word that we are a non functioning community.
[
] Do not show up to play video games.
[] Do not spread the word that we are playing games on such and such days.
[
] Assume our players are inadequate in comparison to other cities players, there for there is no reason to bother playing.
[/LIST]

Most of the people who are entering tournaments or coming out to play casuals do not give fuck about winning a tournament or becoming a top player or any of that shit. They come out to play because it is fun and that is the entire point of showing up. Some of our players have aspirations to be top competitors in tournaments both within Edmonton and other cities. However the vast majority of our players just want to play. We need to, once again create a fun and engaging community like we had when we were playing out of AP games with sf4. it doesn’t matter if some people play MK and don’t play SF or w/e. The fact of the matter is, we are not a active community and that shit needs to stop.

I am willing to host casuals out of my place this sunday and see how it goes, I will do a “for free tournament” and give out a Canada Cup shirt for the winner.

Also on that note Lapchi was kind enough to give me a box of Canada Cup shirts to raffle and or give away as prizes, I think this is a great opportunity to show support for Canada Cup and to perhaps entice newer players to come out and play in a friendly atmosphere.

I’ll host the event for AE, UMVC and SFxT. Anyone that wants to come is free to do so. I’ll do what I can to accommodate people who are showing up and don’t really know anyone.

Around what time will u be hosting on sunday shiro?

HAHAHAHAHAHA my stomach is dieing. Brazzers is actually sponsoring fighting game players. Oh my god. I believe we have the new blue print to get Edmonton’s fighting game scene popping.

Who wants to start a porn site with me?

(If you are not over 18 years of age, please do not google Brazzers. Ha ha.)

2 pm!

I’ll come. See if I have time.
