For sure we should meet, only problem is I have a class at the U from 1-4 on monday. I totally understand peoples inhibitions to paying, but regularity is really super important in these kinds of things. Like even so we can at least put a poster or something up on the edmonton gamers website. (Of course, they should compliment not replace randoms at peoples houses.) Like it or not any regular event will most certainly need to have a cash flow. However, I do agree there should be the option for free casuals. I also really like the idea of using at least some of the money for prizes, so it doesn’t feel like your just throwing cash into a pit of death.
Anyways yea, I’ll pm you over facebook and we can set something up. I do already have experience setting up an academic conference, and I’m always looking for random stuff to put on my resume.
Only reason it is private is because it is unstructured. If you would be willing to throw up a poster on the edmontongamers website, give it a name. And guarantee that your place will be open every wednesday at the same time. Then I would consider it public. Nothing at all against you though, the more events we have, and the more varieties of events the better for everybody.
