It’s way cheaper to fly to California then to Ontario. Better weather, and you won’t have to hear the word ‘‘degen’’ every 5 seconds.
Probably the number one reason is cost. It’s cheaper to fly to norcal than TO (for example). The experience would probably be nicer going to San Francisco than Toronto seeing as how the people in the scene in TO are overly snobby unless you are good at fighting games.

Costs. The overall travel expenses of flight/hotel/food is cheaper in the US than in Canada. This is really stupid and I hope Canada really does something about this if they want to increase tourism.

Competition level in the US is much better than in Canada. If your goal is actually getting better, you’ll level up faster playing in the US than in Canada. This is the number 1 reason you should attend a US major over a Canadian one.

If you’re treating the tournament as a vacation, overall there’s a lot more stuff to do in the US (depending on the location) than in Canada. Now this can get objective depending on what cities you visit but there’s more stuff to do in Cali than in Toronto.
I got that marvel itch after SCR so I might pick up MVC3 for a bit and try to make it out to some casuals in the near future.

Has there been any canadians that ever made top 10 ever in marvel? Even winning the champion position is a unpredictable road itself, so he has to prepare against some of the unknown. If bee adapts quickly, he can beat people in quick sets. Somthing you gotta aim for in the long term goal.
Yes Detrimantix placed7th and 5th in American tournaments as well as Quan placing 7th before I believe. I also think that Nick Cam placed 9th once.
