no I’m going to continue to not really care. I’m not a meaningless hater, if mlg picks up fighting games I care about and sets up good events I’ll totally go, I just disagree with spreading misinformation and hating for hatings sake. If MLG runs these games like others(limited entrants, seperate viewers/contenders, limited/no casual set ups, getting mad at people for yelling etc…) I probably won’t go to their event and I hope the events i DO like, like EVO, will remain as strong and awesome as they already are(if not better).

Capcom *licensed *their character to another Japanese company. What the entire fuck are you posting?
Not at all, they live off of this, many more of us have better things to do then waste our time trying to live off of a hobby. Good for anyone that wants to be “Prao” But lets be real. No MLG pro makes a real living off of this shit unless it’s SC2 Korean players out in Korea.
FChamp is probably the worst example you could pick considering he goes to tournaments largely as an opportunity to profit. It’s not even a bad thing, I respect him for wanting to pay some bills with something he’s good at. But we’re talking about a guy who’s walked room by room wherever he finds players seeking money matches. He’s not there for charity dude… lol
He has more sticks than he could ever possibly use, so he has a stream (in which he runs ads reguarlly) to raffle the excess prizes he has to liquefy his earnings. He had about 23 sticks after northwest majors.

That’s generally how things work. Part of why Melty Blood, Soul Calibur, and TvC haven’t been to nearly as many Evo stages as the more popular games. Fucking Guilty Gear has been to Evo more times than Soul Calibur and Namco sponsors Evo. If no one wants to play/watch the game, the game gets dropped.
*Edit: @FruityRyu: Yeah, I know. It was kinda funny watching him win everything. lol. My point is that he showed up when he didn’t have to. He money matched players. He participated in a silly ass CPU vs CPU character auction tournament that we had. He was a participating member of the community. Not some random profiteer. He made a profit, I’m sure, but the way he worked with us and had fun and hung out, ate, and drank with us, it was clear he was there for the community as well.
*Edit: This is actually more than I could say for Gootecks. Dude signed some autographs, played 3S (and won) and … for the most part hid off to the side. I heard a story about him paying some dude’s hotel reservation fee, though, so that was kinda dope.

Banned. Fake accounts are not welcome on SRK.
Yes I agree, I just don’t know why you mention FChamp when you could have literally mentioned anyone else and it probably would have been a better example for your argument.

^-- It’s a former SRKer who’s been IP banned multiple times. My dad’s a psychologist and I’ve worked in a halfway house for the Very Very Troubled alongside him. I don’t get angry: I realize some people have some serious issues, and can politely and firmly ignore them all day long. I think he mistakes the flat-out “You are simply not welcome on SRK any longer” versus me and the other mods having any opinion whatsoever on his opinions. Just ignore.
lmfao
I played VF4Evo and that game actually drew decent turnouts at Evo and other majors (especially considering this was 03-04). The real problem with VF is that Sega simply does not care about the console market for whatever reason - arcade updates quickly render the home ports obsolete, and new versions take forever to come out on console; hell, VF4 Final Tuned (often considered the best in the series) never had a console release at all!
Whenever it had an up-to-date console version, VF always had a bigger US scene than KOF. Looking at what the modern era seems to be doing for the latter franchise (rumor is that Evo chances are extremely good), I don’t see why a new VF wouldn’t have success if it was good. That would require Sega to stop being even more of a stereotypical Japanese company than Capcom, though…
You guys need to remember that the vVv guys only represents his team, not MLG or eSports.

Poor KOF.
Really though… Neither VF nor KOF had a particularly healthy scene in the US, you’re arguing 15 people vs 18 here.
(Edit: To quote Foghorn Leghorn, “That’s a joke, son.”)

who does represent esports? It’s just a concept, not an organization.
Nah, not even close. VF4Evo had 50-60 player turnouts at some of the midwest regionals, just from my own experience. That was one of the largest scenes for the game, but KOF wasn’t getting anywhere near that, anywhere. Heck, that was about what KOF13 just drew at NEC!
People underestimate how well VF has done in the past (probably because it was smaller on the west coast, much like with MK9 and Slash/AC-era Guilty Gear), and as such I think they’re underestimating what it could do in the future

Well honestly, I think VF’s future performance is strictly limited. Rightly or Wrongly (I’d actually say wrongly myself) it has a bad reputation for being inaccessible and difficult in the scene, and has essentially no traction out of the scene. Popularity and ‘rep’ (and promotion) have a TON more to do with the success of a game than actual game elements, its kind of sad

This vVv guy just makes me hate the leagues mentality all the more. No one gives a dam what top players say to be quite honest. Top Player don’t make the fgc, they are part of it just like the rest of us. The leagues should just straight stay away. MLG is fine tho, that’ll simply be another major. The rest of the leagues can stay humping the leg of “top players” and catering to fans. We good.
That’s interesting:
“I hate the whole of a group because of an individuals opinion. HOWEVER, an individuals opinion is just a part of a group and doesn’t represent it.”
Please don’t argue with fallible logic.

I never said I hate everyone, just people who share his mentality, of which there are quite a few.
