ST teams are a strong possibility, I think we are going to go with the “random teams drawn out of a hat” idea to avoid getting any too-powerful teams into the mix. This will be held immediately after ST singles on Sunday.
As for AE…
I tell you I AM kicking myself that we’re not doing it this year. I thought it wouldn’t be worth it, since last year I ran AE and it ended up only getting about half the entries ST did…just seemed like after ST ended on Friday, people took off and didn’t stick around for AE later in the weekend.
Now, theres this huge announcement that EVO is going to do full-scale AE. DOH! The problem with adding it this late, is that I’m not sure we’re going to have enough free consoles on Sunday to run it. We will already have CvS2 top 16, 3s top 16 (and finishing up any pools we didn’t finish Saturday night), and Guilty Gear Slash on the schedule. That’s DEFINITELY going to take up all 8 console stations for a while.
Here is what I’ll say: if there is going to be AE at ECC, it WILL be on Sunday, so that way all the ST players will still be around. As Sunday progresses, I will see how many console stations we have available, and if there are at least 2 free when ST finishes Sunday afternoon, I will take signups for AE.
Sounds great. It is definately a good idea to do it possibly after ST for the reasons you noted. I hope this happens. If not, It will still be fun getting in some ST action.
Wether switching is or isn’t allowed in the team tournament doesn’t really matter, but I think it should be said which it will be soon, not like they day before the tournament. Also is switching the order that team members play allowed?
I assume order switching would be allowed if you lose the game/match. But I really think a decision has to be made soon.
Holding a poll = simplest solution for this. Keep it up for a week, close it next Wednesday morning at midnight. This way people still have a couple of days to plan, whatever. I mean, it shouldn’t have to be said of which one will get picked most likely, but just to make things fair.
So how am i supposed to get to Dunellen if my flight is taking me to newark? Any suggestion folks…cuz from what i looked at thats a damn 30 min drive and i dont know anybody out there with a car willing to take me that far. HOLLA
The airtrain goes to the Newark Airport stop on the North East Corridor line.
In a nutshell You Land > Airtrain from Newark Airport > From Airtrain stop to Newark via North East Corridor line > Stop at Newark Penn Station > Get on Raritan Valley Line > Stop at the Dunellen stop > walk across the street and you’re there
(if it makes you feel any better, the train from the airtrain to newark penn station is like 2 - 5 minutes)
sup phil. word, I agree, team tourneys usually end up pretty dependant on how people feel right then. Anyway, I think that it’s not that good an idea to do it after singles, because I don’t think it’d end, but you have a better grasp on time constraints than I do. I’d think friday is better option, even if there are less teams.
About format, we could go a lot of ways, I think it just comes down to preference. Personally I, would prefer being able to switch teams, but I could go either way.
Are we set on 3v3? Do we think there will be that many people interested? Post up if you are.
oh btw I volunteer to run cvs2 team tourney if its cool, and it happens.
edit: reason i ask about 3v3, is I think a 2v2 might be slick if we do like knockout style (T1A d. T2A, T2B d. T1B, T1A plays T2B and winner’s team wins) or something, if people are interested in that too. Just a thought …
CvS2 teams now is composed of three people who each have their own team of characters, insetad of three folks playing one team, but each getting their own character on said team?

It would likely be held on Saturday and the start time will definitely be random since everyone will be doing their own thing with more serious matters.
If you have the time (break between matches or just plain bored), come check out TF. look for bearded guy w/ plain black cap running poverty on a laptop.
If i cant get a tournament established, just show up for some cas play and/or $$ matches!!
