ECCXI: The Saga Continues. 8 on The Break Arcade, May 26, 2006 - May 29, 2006

Okay so the self-proclaimed “king of hate” is banning someone from a tournament because she posted something hateful… Like you’re in any place to do this, DSP. Banning someone for upsetting people with your reputation is rediculous.

When the community starts taking it’s cues from DSP instead of just laughing at him, I think there’s something seriously wrong… If anyone is going to ban Jamie for this let someone else do it. Just about any of the other organizers command much more respect than DSP as an organizer and as a person in general.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that DSP does not have to power to pull something like this.

man shut the fuck up

I dont think you speak for everyone you speak for yourself

PM sent, FatPuma.

Didn’t she eliminate you last year?

And whatever to DSP banning her, I agree with Cuervo.

it is wrong to wish death upon anyone even if they bullied you 10 years ago. It is even more wrong to wish death upon the person runnin ECCXI this year and organizing it.

I also dont see why people are protecting James/Jamie. If he/she wants to be known as a she now and be called Jamie then why is a girl mad a guy called her a fag years ago?? and you guys are protecting her because of what?? Josh wigfall bullying a guy years ago or a girl?? make up your minds please.

I thought, while not huge, the registration page did its job w/ speeding up() the registration process at ecc. all I had to do was give my name and pay, which saves 3 minutes of spelling out my first and last name, and then repeating twice what games I’m going to play. this amounts to quite a bit of time when multiplied by all the players… who normally manages the website? phi?

point being?

…who are you lol

Oh no one, just keeping my facts in check.

anyone not going to ecc please shut the fuck up

Cuervo, you speak for nobody but the misinformed idiots of the world. I may be nicknamed “the King of Hate” but all the things I do are usually entertaining and to draw attention to the community. I have never, EVER, done something so low and evil as wishing someone got shot in the head and died, because of some really stupid personal vendetta. There are a lot of people I dislike, but I would never wish them dead, EVER.

Who the fuck are you to tell ME how pertinent I am to the community? If I’m such a horrible person, why do I have friends in every place I travel to? Why would I even be trusted with running ECC this year if I was such a detriment to the community? I have run numerous tournaments and assisted at numerous majors, what the fuck have you done?

You are the definition of troll: a nobody who flames just to get noticed. Well, you fucked with the wrong guy, and just made yourself look pretty dumb.

Anyway…

As for GGXX Slash, there is a HIGH chance it will now be on Sunday, since the majority of Guilty Gear players in New Jersey wanted the tourney on the weekend instead of Friday.

It is now OFFICIAL that Tekken 5 is CANCELLED, since Jinmaster decided to go ahead and run a DR tournament at Philly the same weekend as ECC, just to spite us…so I’m sorry Tekken community, WE TRIED, but Jinmaster just fucked all of you over. I hope you can make it out to Philly, and if you were planning on playing multiple games like Tekken plus Street Fighter, you can thank Jinmaster for fucking everything up and being a selfish fuck.

Finally, 3s has been announced for the PS2 console for months now, due to the results of a poll here on SRK where an overwhelming amount of people requested it. 3s will be starting around 6-8pm on Saturday because we are going to run through CvS2 until the top 16 and then stop…this will definitely take at least 4-6 hours to complete. At that time, we will convert all console stations over to 3s, which we will play for about another 4-6 hours until 12am, and then we will shut down ECC for the night, and continue 3s the next day. Again, this has now been in the schedule for weeks, please read the first post for details.

i did not read a single word of this thread but im going to ECC and please don’t treat the GG players like shit because some of us play capcom games too and respect all games equally.

ps i’ll be there playing my shitty urien and potemkin thanks

and dsp i just read your post but you come off as awfully rude although you are the king of hate it seems funny that the king of hate would be put in charge of such an event.

It’s true, I don’t know you DSP, all that I know is what I and the people around me think. But this issue goes beyond that, maybe I shouldn’t have made it so personal…

SRK is a public forum for people to share ideas and plans within our community. Although Jamie is a friend who I am trying to defend, I really don’t care about what she said, nor do I condone it. The fact is she just said something, she typed words on a screen and shared her thoughts for whatever reason she had for doing so. I can understand banning people from tournaments for actually misbehaving at tournaments; getting drunk and rowdy, breaking shit, starting fights, selling drugs, whatever. But to ban someone for doing something that caused no real damage to anyone, the Break, or ECC in general doesn’t make any sense. It’s a free speech issue basically. Sure we’re not exactly “free” in what we post here, but there are ways of dealing with it, banning from SRK, whatever. You don’t ban someone from competition for what they post. At least not from something as big as ECC. ECC is something bigger than any player, the actual organizers, or the Break itself. It is it’s own entity, it has it’s own history, lots of people have influenced it and made it happen, but no one owns it. What Jamie said may have personally offended the organizers, but that’s just what it is, a personal matter.

With your reputation as the hot-headed shit talker of the EC, DSP, your reaction to this is expected, but I don’t think that it is what everyone wants, or even how the other organizers would react. As one of the main organizers of this event, your voice deserves to be heard, but do you really think that you alone should have the power to make a decision like that? Shouldn’t there be some sort of balance? What do the other organizers think?

This is actually a very serious matter. What someone does in their own small local tournaments is their own business, but do we as a community really want to start seeing the organizers of majors banning anyone they don’t particularly like? It’s really only a small step from what’s going on here.

If you’re fucking psychotic enough that somebody gets shot and you say “good”, you don’t fucking belong in social environments until you’ve spent serious time talking to a therapist and working through your issues.

Sorry. My dad’s a psychologist and I’ve worked with seriously crazy on-heavy-meds people - e-thugging or not, that’s fucking psychotic talk.

For something like that? Hell yes.

If you’re to the point in your life where you’re wishing people dead online then I for one don’t want any part of your bullshit. I don’t know where the hell you’re coming from trying to excuse that. I applaud the decision to ban J from SRK and ECC. If you’re happy about somebody getting shot, you’re fucked up in the head and should keep it to yourself. Or, like I said, please find somebody professional to talk to, because you’ve got serous issues. I respect that - it’s part of life to have issues - but deal with them constructively and you’re going to have a much better life.

You applaud people getting shot, nobody right in the head is going to want anything to do with you. You don’t pity that, you don’t coddle, you don’t accept that, you fucking step up and say THAT IS NOT RIGHT. I don’t know who banned J from SRK, but I applaud them and I applaud DSP. J needs a time-out and needs to come to grips with life. If you’re her friend, you’re going to make sure that happens. If you can’t tell J that this kind of thing is not right, you’re not J’s friend.

It’s only natural to wish for the death of people who hurt you. Most people wouldn’t have voiced that opinion in the particular place where Jamie did, but for whatever reason she did. It’s not psycotic. It is anti-social, sure, but if we start banning people from tournaments for speaking anti-social ideas either online or off we would lose half our player base, myself and DSP included. So where is the line going to be drawn? Who is to judge what kind of speech is appropriate?

Am I the only one who thinks that this is a frightening precident to set?

In the 7 years that I have run tournaments both at the local and national level, I have yet to deal with the issue of somebody lashing out in this manner. It would be a totally different situation had the person just said that in the ECC thread. But the message was conveyed in the very same thread where people were seriously concerned about Josh’s well being.

Thats not really a free speech issue, its not like somebody stating that they’re proud to be whatever sexual orientation, gender, etc. This was one person stating that they seriously wished another person dead. In my opinion, its not setting a precedent, its almost common sense. If lets say me or one of the TS7 staff gets hurt in a car accident or something, and some person comes on here saying “Too bad you didn’t get hit by a semi. The truck that hit you should have turned around and hit you again.” I’m fairly positive I would ban that person from attending TS7.

Free speech is a right we all have, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t consequences. At the same token, tournament directors are allowed to determine who and what element they want to attend their event. In this case its pretty obvious there would be a huge negative effect if Jaime attended ECCXI at this point. Have you not read the responses to Jaime’s posts? I think banning Jaime is actually the safest thing to do for her. Its almost like you told everybody on your block that you wished your neighbor’s brother was killed, then still wanting to go over to their place and play games. I mean, its also pretty natural to not want a person who wishes you, or the people close to you, dead to not be near them. Whats really more frightening? A person being banned from an event, or a person wishing another person was killed?

You’re going uphill, with no paddle, flowing through shits creek on this one.

Well there is a big difference homie, you just don’t go into a fuckign thread where someone has been shot and wish them to die, I’m sorry but no matter how I see it I can’t condone what that faggottron did. I was under the impression that this was some girl wigwall fucked and punked off or something, but then I found out it’s a fucking homo who got yelled at over a game… now I really don’t give a fuck what James, or Janet or whatever the fuck his name is has to say, you sound like you are too psycho to come to ecc so Im all with Phil for banning this guy. Phil talks shit but its always in the context of gaming for the most part.

I agree with you. If someone kept hurting you in someway this is a natural reaction however. If the plan was to actually go through with it then i highly doubt that it would actually happen. Ive actually had a talk with jamie and i believe that shes telling the truth about what shes stated up to this point. But because everything is about the majority. I guess that has no say. Just remember when something real fucked up happens to you and look back on those you shunned out. and then wonder why it happened. thats the way of life. take it as you want.

later

THE WHOLE JAMES “JAMIE” AUSTIN THING IS DONE!!!

The Argument is dumb, If we are reffering to Jamie Austin As a women, lady, girl or whatever as her friends are then your and her argument is dumb. No women will, would, or should be mad if a Man, Male, or guy calls her a “Fag” “Faggot” “Queer” or any other slang for a Homosexual. If in your “past life” you were a man…then thats your past life.

So if Jamie Austin, or her friends are going to reffer to her as a girl then to motive for what was said means nothing. here is the quote if your gonna say thats not what was said.

And dont tell me that “Fag” or any homosexual term hurts women because it doesnt and you can as any real women only “bitch” bothers them like that.

ill be at ecc. period
