E3 2019 Thread: Donzo! Post E3 Conversation and Migration back into VGG

Keep in mind back in the day, it was not standard practice to keep the source codes to old games.
Often the old code gets thrown out, that later on makes the one reversed engineered port of the game the Definitive version, even if that version has no rights to be so.

Like how all the FF7 Ports are based off the Windows 95 version and not the PS1 game.
The Windows 95 game based off a very unfinished build of the Japanese PS1 game, with many of the Japanese errors fixed, and content completed. The US version of the PS1 game with major bug fixes and completed content got re-released back into Japan as the International Version.

So the Steam version of FF7 is just a port of the win 95 version, and everything else based on the Steam version, with the PS4 port being the basis of the Switch and Xbox One versions of the game, which the PS4 game was a port of the Steam version.

Its not that they could do better, as they can’t.

Like back in the day, the PC port of Sonic CD isn’t a port of the SegaCD/MegaCD game, but someone redoing all the programming from scratch. Which happened all over again for the mobile versions, and later ports are based from the Mobile version as no one wants to do that ground level work again.

They absolutly could do better, I have injected new models into PC ff7 multiple times. If I can do it so can SE lol.

The Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei remake were actually announced last December.

Link’s Awakening is now on Treehouse.

Looks like Monster Hunter is getting ready to Stream

I’m aware.

But remember Square-Enix’s office management is SHIT and you have to spend time and money to make the new Assets.

You just benefit someone who did it for free, and posted their work online.

Plus if you compare the PS1 to the Steam version, they polygon model rendering has been vastly improved.

fuckin sick

Also, MHWI is on it’s own twitch channel:

That’s honestly not a good excuse.

Neither is this.

That is what I am comparing it to.

I really like how Link’s Awakening looks.

Also Borderlands 3 is up next on E3 Coliseum.

I wasn’t trying to excuse them, just how I see how that shit all went down.
Square has a terrible track record for getting projects done in a timely manner.
We see Elder Scrolls VI before we See Final Fantasy XVI.

Had they actually keep their source code, and didn’t have shit office management we more likely see better made ports, and not rely on a weird outlier versions of the game(s) and the definitive versions.
But that is assuming alot there.

Modding community always does what the publisher can not. And it’s not just Skyrim.
Hell, my PC version of Neir Automatia and Mass Effect games is heavily modded to make it playable to my eyes.

In Nier’s case Square never bothered to patch the game. Mods is the only option in that game.

I know you’re not.

Yea but that doesn’t really have anything to do with what I am talking about. I am saying they can do it if they wanted to. There is no can’t in this situation because people already do it for free, so SE is capable of doing it if they wanted to. I am responding to the comment they can’t do it. Bullshit they absolutly can if they wanted to.

All I was sayin.

True, I agree with you there. They are capable ability wise, that is true.
I just think the desire isn’t there and probity some stupid inter-office politics or corporate policy that leading Square to be stupid.

I can see Keanu looking at this tweet and then immediately calling up CD Projekt to check into his contract lol.

Aonuma is also a solid Zelda player. Link’s Awakening Amiibo is adorable.

@Radiantsilvergun3

It’s 10 min long but if you are interested

Also one gripe about the Steam version, the Game Pad Support is broken.
