maaaaaaaaaaaaan… Im suckerd into buying this game just because its HNK.
And I dont really care that much about dynasty warriors.
what’s next ? Disney Musou ?
Liu Bei vs Toki , Lu Bu vs Raoh , Jagi vs Sima Yi, Rei vs Zhao Yun ,Kenshiro vs Guan Yu. This shit would be so epic I would cry tears of blood. This game has to have gallons of blood like endless gore for it to work that sajnin Ken killed thugs by the billions all in blood. They gotta make the general fights epic I have to fight the nanto generals one one for fun. Ima slaughter yuda’s rock horror show as all across the wasteland . I want fully destructible enviroments the ability to select which finisher I want to use the 100 crack fist every thing possible yo.
im sorry, what is this game suppose to play like. im confused
Meh.
I still think that there’s room for such things.
First off, they should by now that, really and truly, it’s only “old heads” that really care about Hokuto no Ken. They were the ones who were playing the Arc Systems 2D fighter a few years ago, and also have been the main ones caring about other Fist related releases in the last few years, like the “Gaiden” OVAs, mangas and etc.
The kids of today have little reason to care about a series that their big brothers (or possibly fathers, by this point) watched. This isn’t like Gundam, which is practically a religion that has a far and widespread appeal, for both young and old. The kids and fangirls have their Naruto and other Shounen Jump series that have their attention.
So, really, why should Koei-Tecmo be all that concerned with trying to market such a series to kids, knowing full well that the kids aren’t likely to care?
The game should be a CERO D (the equivalent of a “M”, in Japan’s rating system), no question. If the likes of Sega’s Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza series can do just FINE in Japan, and it too, basically gives a middle finger to trying to cater to kids/fan girls, certainly a HnK game can do likewise.
They wouldn’t be doing such a game any favors by doing anything less, in my opinion. And I’m sure I wouldn’t be alone in that area.
It will be fun in the short-term but fail to realize its potential. Like ALL DW/Musou games.
Dr. B could make the ultimate DW game. But then he’d have to turn his attention away from the oncoming Cyclonian threat. Fuck the universe.
Where does it say it’ll be a re-skinned Dynasty Warriors?
I mean Koei’s made other games that didn’t play at all like Dynasty Warriors. Gitaroo Man, for one…
I never played a DW series before, but I’ll prob. consider this one if it has Ken doing his thing.
WATA!
Good point
I agree
The target audience is us older fans who grew up with the series and people who have been watching it for years. This game will definitely be bloody because they do not want to alienate us . I just hope they keep the original art direction not this bullshit raoh gaiden . Raoh has to be dark skinned and have black hair that new ish to me is nowhere near as violent.
Expect to see general fights as one on one to keep up with the theme of the series their probably won’t be any general fights with troops intefering. ATATATATATATATA!!! for the win.
Koei Canada actually. I think HnK Musou is made by Japan, but Troy Warriors / Troy Musou is made specifically by Koei Canada, lack of effeminate designs and no trap characters.
Honestly though, Warriors Orochi had some broken map clearing methods after certain characters were heavily upgraded, take example Guan Ping and how his SS C could clear entire maps in under 2 minutes, because of all the fusions on his weapon.
I partially agree though, Warriors Orochi system made Dynasty Warriors fun again.
Also for the rest of you just now realizing this - KOEI is notorious for being the King of Rehash.
Day 1 here. I’m just getting into the series and a DW type of game would be a PERFECT fit for HnK.
There are multiple HNK games (and even anime) without blood.
Add the fact Koei simply doesn’t do violent games (Sigma 2 is probably their most violent game, and it barely has any blood), and no, this won’t be bloody.
Technically…?
Raoh was supposed to be a big-ass, white guy with blond hair. That was what Hara and Buronson originally intended, and some of their original “colorizations” still exist to showcase as such. So what you see in the Gaiden is actually a bit closer to what they wanted originally.
What happened for the case of the anime was an early example of “corporate meddling”. The execs wanted Raoh’s colors to be changed to the darker tone, because they wanted him to look more like he could be Kenshiro’s brother. Obviously, the fact that they were not supposed to be REAL brothers eluded them.
It’s highly likely, but again, I still don’t see the reason why they should exercise as such.
The only thing that would stop them is that if they did as such, the game would be slapped with a Cero D, or even Z (basically, an “M/AO” rating), if they went for broke. That would just mainly mean that kids couldn’t buy it, but again, most kids wouldn’t care. They would just be doing what it takes to make it so that the game caters to HnK fans, as much as possible.
Besides, if the “Tecmo” part has a bit more say in how this game could be marketed, maybe they would allow them to get away with more.
The best way to reach the adult demographic that is most likely to buy this game, is to make them happy by promising them as much of a verbatim HnK experience, as possible.
Obviously, some developers are not afraid of taking such risks, like Sega. Hell, even Spike is localizing “MadWorld” in Japan, and it’s looking to be as bloody as its American counter-part. So really, why not, Koei-Tecmo? :wgrin:
Isn’t that Warriors of Troy game supposed to be violent?
True indeed, Xero.
Though, the excuse there could be that’s a game with a “Western” focus (and it’s even being made by Koei’s Canada extension).
Who knows if the same could also apply for a clearly much more “niche” thing like HnK, as well, even if it is a very “niche-friendly” property?
Do not pursue Raoh…
How can Kenshiro have generals or sidekicks when everybody usually ends up getting worked over by Raoh and company in a few episodes . This is kinda odd.
Again, there’s nothing that suggests that this is even a MUSOU game (yet).
Let’s remember: Tecmo and (more importantly) Team Ninja are a part of this equation now.
Maybe this is yet another project that Team Ninja took upon themselves. Or maybe it might be the first example of a co-op between Team Ninja and Koei’s own Omega Force. I dunno.
I just hope that this is something more than a Musou game with a HnK coat of paint.
I mean, guys like Rei should be able to practically fly all over the damn place (“KYUUUUUUUU!!!”), as they slice fools into bloody ribbons. And hell, even the traditional Musou’s “dial-a-combo” engine would likely get tedious for guys like Kenshiro and Raoh.
If there’s anything that would probably be closer to the “stylish brutal action” that embodies HnK, it’s definitely the Ninja Gaiden engine, or a derivative of it.
So, I’m really hoping for the best. But again, it would disappoint me greatly if all we stood to get was just a “HnK Musou”. Ken and his pals deserve better than that.
Or shoot…what if this was an actual fighting game, instead of what we expect it to be? The DOA part of the Team Ninja group (or what’s left of it, after the exodus) certainly could use some work…
i love all the DW games… i’ve bought and played just about every single one… and even i was hoping that this fist of the north star game was gonna be a fighting game and not a beat em up… but i’ll have to see how it turns out… is there any comfirmation of it being a DW style game? i was rather worried about the koei x ninja merger… i’m not exactly put to rest with this teaser… but we’ll see huh?
I just completed my HNK statue set bitches & now this…
manly tears i have no regrets
