Dammit. Any chance of access to other versions?
This makes me so sad… now that I was actually doing good on DFO… sigh… yea just as “meh” asks… are we migrating by any chance? I hate this news… T_T
hey guys , dfo is coming down , as in being closed soon
this really does hurt me as i really got fond of all of you guys from srk and eldergod
so yeah, TO ALL MY PALS from elder , whom with wich i share allot of good time, can iask for a last group picture, in channel 31, tavern
il leave my character there and swap back to look at it taking picture as people camp there guys there , im hoping for a elder god guild screenshot
im making a wallpaper out of it
If anyone is interested in planning a guild picture, I guess now is the best time. All we will have left is memories of playing this game for so long.
Or we could all migrate together to another game, if Eld is down for it? I know it’s sort of a stretch seeing as not everyone has the same taste but if you’re like me and love action MMOS I have some in mind. A couple of suggestions I could recommend is PSO2(when it gets released stateside), elsword, dragonnest, vindictus, and DCUO(PS3). We could have a poll set up seeing which games we all play and then decide on that when migrating?
I wouldn’t suggest PSO2 when it hits the US, Phantasy Star Online has a trend of burning it’s US customer base. PSO:BB shutdown before the JP version did, PSU PC/PS2 shutdown while the JP version kept going for another 2 years and that shutdown was more due to the release of PSO2. I’ve been burned by Sega one too many times. PSO2 isn’t even that great of a game, it was a fairly boring button masher imo.
Elsword(unless it’s been patched) doesn’t allow arcade sticks or gamepads using xpadder, and only supports xbox360 controllers IIRC(though I don’t think mine worked even then). I don’t know if they’ve fixed the support for that yet.
DCUO was alright, it wasn’t fantastic but it was alright, gets a little boring after awhile though.
Dragon Nest, I didn’t really like for some reason, I can’t remember why.
Vindictus was alright, never really liked the character options though, I might try Karok with his knuckles maybe.
At least I’m getting my 10k NX back.
Well what do you suggest then? There aren’t many great beat’em/action MMO’s out there. PSO2 being a boring, and “button mashy” is subjective, we all have different taste and I could easily say the same for DFO. I can button mash and just XXXX all day with some characters but it doesn’t take away from how good game is. Both games have skills, builds setups, and combos that can be done to heighten your gameplay experience. Also the result of PSO: BB shutting down before the Japanese servers is because of the smaller player base PSO has in the west but that’s obvious. We could even say that same for DnF to an extent because we all know DnF is a religion in korea.
I haven’t played Elsword in a while(5 months?) but the last time I did play I was able to play it smoothly on my PS3 pad, you need to get on that motionjoy, its wonderful. But the game is supported by a wonderful publisher that listen to its fans, and that keeps the game updated. I don’t have the slightest problem with that at all. Not to mention the gameplay is pretty nice, if your into side-scrolling dungeon crawling.
DCUO I loved, i’m a huge DC/Marvel fan so that may have some bearing to it but nonetheless the game is pretty good and has nice endgame content if your into MMO/action. The only issue with endgame is the SP grind which gets repetitive, and having to pay for a legendary account. Heck the reason I stopped was because I had too many bills to pay and could afford the legenday account.
I liked dragonnest but got bored because of lack of friends and it did get stale after a while. I certainly don’t mind getting back into it if some of you guys migrate.
Vindictus has some deep gameplay mechanics and requires a ton of skill to actually be good at the game, it actually has decent character options when it comes to aesthetics and what not. Has some fast gameplay and a pretty good amount of content. I’d recommend it for action/MMO lovers.
In the end this is all subjective, we all have different taste which is why i’m curious to see what we all are playing at the moment, or what we would be interested in playing. That way we would have to say bye to SRK. I’m fairly new to the guild and I love the experience so far and it hurts to see this happen to DFO, and potentially see SRK disband.
So sad. I’ve met a lot of people online and IRL over the last 3 years. I’ve spent so much time leveling characters, and helping others. It was great while it lasted. I plan to make videos of our last runs together. We should all play a little bit before the servers go down.
I’ve always been saying…as good of a game DFO was, it was run by a pathetic company and it was obvious from the very beginning. Eldergod, I really feel bad for you to spend so much money on this game and your efforts to be wasted like this. I quit this game a few months ago when I realized that this was going to happen and now it has.
Wow, I’m surprised they are closing it so soon. It was fun while it lasted guys. I know this is my last MMO that I’ll ever play though. 3 times is enough for me.
Well I can definitely say with certainty that I’ll be moving on to Elsword. Been checking that out since last month and got hooked onto it, already having a Lvl. 45 Eve and Lvl. 20+ Elsword. I also play League of Legends occasionally with friends, so I can be hit up on either of those games. You could also add me through PSN (X360 is dying, so PSN is preferred) if you have one, and we can see about playing some console games together.
I frankly can’t stress enough how much I’m going to miss DFO. It was my introduction to the MMO world and its unique quirks, along with being a gateway to meet tons of great people and just being a damn fun game in general. I had a lot of things planned for the future to keep the longevity of this game constant for me, but since it’s being taken away so soon, I’ll have to stomach it and move on. Please take my word for it when I say that I had a blast joining this guild and meeting all of you. Joining SRK has enhanced my DFO experience to a level that I’ll never forget.
And I mean every single one of you.
I’ll still be signing in and floating around DFO until it shuts down completely. It’s a ship I plan to stay on until it’s fully sunk, so if anyone wants help with anything at all, SRK and ElderGOD, don’t be afraid to contact me. If nothing else, I can at least show my gratitude for you all through that.
Also, @GenocideWolf, get on that MotionInJoy like Lama_Spit said. It works great with any game, it’ll make Elsword PS3 pad compatible, and I can walk you through the process if you need the help. Once you get over the hump of learning it (which isn’t much), you’ll most likely find it much better than Xpadder.
We have to meet up in elsword man. I haven’t played in a while but with that new update hitting I’m going to start playing again soon. Also i’m on that PSN and 360 so we can definitely play there. Heck since DFOlive is still being supported that will probably turn into my new DFO. What games do you play on your PS3? Currently playing DCUO, SF4 etc. You mind if I send you a FR?
i really really wish this closure was a belated April Fool’s joke, but it doesn’t seem that way…
going off tangent a little, but this reminds me sorely of Metal Gear Online’s shutdown. game was a refreshing change of pace from the more generic third person shooters, but was managed horribly by Konami, and they didn’t do a real good job of moderating the community. hell, DFO’s getting shut down in the same month as MGO.
oh well, at least they’re not shutting down DFL. how does that game even work, connectivity-wise? similar to games like Castle Crashers?
if the game’s 800 MSP and my parents didn’t jack any of my points purchasing movies i might just go and pick it up. i only ever played Gunner and Slayer so i won’t have a hard time adjusting anyway.
It’s not bad, but its missing a ton of content and doesn’t come anywhere near DFO level. Max cap only level 20 or 25 cant remember, and theres no town or anything(its screen-scrolling). All in all its just a hugely watered down DFO but with better graphics. I’m going to start playing it again because of my love for DFO.
Yeah, I’m actually going to be changing my Eve’s Nemesis class to Electric when it releases. Code Electric/Battle Seraph was actually my initial Eve class choice when I was first checking out the game, but then I found out it wasn’t available in NA yet, so I just went with Exotic. Now that the class -is- getting released, well, might as well get on board.
I don’t plan on playing DFL at all, honestly. It compares little to DFO’s massive breadth, just being a watered-down copy. I do love DFO a lot, but playing DFL will just make me yearn for all that once was. If DFL gets Male Mage DLC, though, I might consider it.
I play a number of games, mainly Tekken Tag 2, Dead Space 3, Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires, and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. I have more, but those are what I’ve been sticking to lately.
Also, yes, you may. PSN’s right in my sig.
So it looks like it won’t make it past Summer. So where does everyone plan on moving to? I’m pretty much open for anything non-Nexon.
Don’t forget guys that we still have this thread and the skype group.
DFO’s pretty much the only MMO that got me hooked. if i ever get TERA Online to not own my processors whenever it runs (98% CPU on a quad core laptop at lowest graphics settings) then i’ll probably play that, although that game is more like Monster Hunter.
i also play Path of Exile occasionally. it’s a Diablo-like game in open beta right now. the cool thing about it is that the skills are all gem-based (think FF7 materia), passive skills are determined by a very huge skill tree, only limited by your base stats, and it’s got a pretty unique economy using more than a dozen types of currency, which can be used to buff up your gear instead of trading.
other than that i play SoulCalibur V, UMvC3 and occasionally TTT2, all on XBL.
I’d put a vote towards moving to Elsword. It has enough similarities to DFO to be accessible enough, plus is bustling with activity & events. Only issue it really has is that it has something akin to DFO’s fatigue system, so once you run out, you can’t play anymore with that character. It’s unlimited during the weekends, however.
Would be cool to have the SRK/ElderGOD/SRKPvP guilds all there. I’d participate in any way I can.
I’ll probably end up playing elsword again, PSO2 when it hits the states, DCUO since there are a couple members from SRK playing it, and the usual fighting games, a little of DFO live.
EDIT: I’m with unknown_drive elsword feels like DFO compared to the other beat’em ups out there. Its a great game and I plan to jump ship when it gets the update. Eld, would it be out of the realm of possibility to migrate SRK over to Elsword?
