I have a few issues with your arguement.
I sort of agree with this one, but primarily because of the price they are charging. $1-2 would be fine just to prevent peoples skills from swapping around like mad but this is hardly something some planning can’t get around.
Avatars are essentially their ONLY source of income from this game. Yes there are respects and whatnot, but I mean really, the avatar items don’t make THAT big of a difference in gameplay statwise. They are a benefit, yes, but hardly a huge one compared to, say, legacy equips. Plus, you can buy all of these with only in-game currency, it’s not like they tied them to the character that bought them.
Kindof the same as before, but I mean really, I can think of lots of online games where the characters look basically identical. Most aren’t exactly MMOs but its hardly something to quit playing the game over.
Personally, I think the reason for this is just to keep people interested. Throwing out a game and saying ‘here it is, enjoy everything it will ever be’ kind of is a buzzkill. I mean, once you are done, you are just kind of done, and so they wanted to keep that concept of expansions onto the base game.
Its certainly not the best thing to be implimented in an MMO, but its hardly restrictive 90% of the time. Done properly, it takes at least a couple of hours to burn through 156 fatigue.
Even with the exp curve the way it is now, this is one of the least grindy MMO’s I’ve ever seen. If you really put your mind to it, you can get a level a day until about 36, not counting any of the multitude of levels that you just blow through because of quests.
I’m not saying Nexon USA is perfect, hell, they are far from it, but I just can’t see these issues as being enough to really merit not playing. For me, this is a great beatemup with some RPG elements, and the RPG elements are a distance second in what I enjoy it for.
