Dungeon Fighter (new MMO from Nexon)

Yea the maintenance came out of nowhere. Just when I was gonna try to level after being busy for the last couple days.

I was in a party with 3 people and we decided to run frozenheart kings in 9 minutes right before maintenance. We killed the boss got the exp but died at the same time. But no countdown or anything. My dumb ass was trying to press print screen but I don’t even know if that is the screen capture button for this game. :looney:

Yeah…since new avatars came out, the game’s economy basically crumbled. Buy a bunch of new avs and jack the price up to the 1.5-2m range (4m for a speed avatar) is the name of the game…just take advantage IMO.

Looking for the new white hair myself. I’ll let you know if I get the blue hair eventually. As for the stylish black set…i’m wearing it so I can’t trade ya

Random maintenance is balls

print screen is automatic screen capture no matter what, you just need to ctrl+v it into paint

I was liking this game for a while but I quit playing because of the gross bullshit.

-Paying for respecs. bullshit
-Paying for items that aren’t just cosmetic. bullshit
-Making every character look identical unless you pay for items. bullshit
-US version not having all the crap the Japanese version does, for no apparent reason I can follow. bullshit to da max
-Fatigue system. Bullshit.
-Quests not being enough to level you alone/having to farm same dungeons over and over again. bullshit.

EDIT:

This doesn’t mean they aren’t money grubbing bastards, when MMOS patch abilities that no longer exist after you’ve put points into them, it causes issues, so their hands are tied. It’s not that they necessarily want to give a free reset. WoW has the same issues.

Nah I have not hit 39 on my BM yet. I’m going to start playing her again though since the new avatars for mages are pretty cute. Plus there’s the blue hair that I want more than any other hair avatar in the game.

I have a few issues with your arguement.

I sort of agree with this one, but primarily because of the price they are charging. $1-2 would be fine just to prevent peoples skills from swapping around like mad but this is hardly something some planning can’t get around.

Avatars are essentially their ONLY source of income from this game. Yes there are respects and whatnot, but I mean really, the avatar items don’t make THAT big of a difference in gameplay statwise. They are a benefit, yes, but hardly a huge one compared to, say, legacy equips. Plus, you can buy all of these with only in-game currency, it’s not like they tied them to the character that bought them.

Kindof the same as before, but I mean really, I can think of lots of online games where the characters look basically identical. Most aren’t exactly MMOs but its hardly something to quit playing the game over.

Personally, I think the reason for this is just to keep people interested. Throwing out a game and saying ‘here it is, enjoy everything it will ever be’ kind of is a buzzkill. I mean, once you are done, you are just kind of done, and so they wanted to keep that concept of expansions onto the base game.

Its certainly not the best thing to be implimented in an MMO, but its hardly restrictive 90% of the time. Done properly, it takes at least a couple of hours to burn through 156 fatigue.

Even with the exp curve the way it is now, this is one of the least grindy MMO’s I’ve ever seen. If you really put your mind to it, you can get a level a day until about 36, not counting any of the multitude of levels that you just blow through because of quests.

I’m not saying Nexon USA is perfect, hell, they are far from it, but I just can’t see these issues as being enough to really merit not playing. For me, this is a great beatemup with some RPG elements, and the RPG elements are a distance second in what I enjoy it for.

Fair enough I suppose. I guess I’m just used to(spoiled by) the meticulous care that a certain OTHER mmo gets and all the conveniences that come with it.

Well, coming from playing WoW, I’d say that game is far less grindy than DFO. You can get about a level a day once you reach a certain point in WoW, but there’s pretty much always quests to do in that game, making leveling not too horrible. In DFO, you can burn through quests all in one day and then be stuck grinding X dungeon for the rest of the day until you run out of fatigue.

I came from early FFXI. This concept of getting exp from quests is new to me.

It’s just straight up more user friendly. Aside from dungeons, there’s a whole world to explore to quest in. So if you get bored of one there’s another. starting from level 10 on you can pvp, and you can do professions at like level 5? Aside from talents (which is the analog to DFOs buying abilities with SP system) you get trained abilities every other level to play with, even if you don’t buy anything with talents. speaking of talents you get a point to play with every level, and you can refund your talents for in game money as opposed to DFOs real money respecs.

also there’s a role system in wow, such as tanking, healing and damage dealing. There are really no dedicated roles in DFO except for damage dealing, which makes combat feel a little underwhelming.

Yea, it would for sure be nice if they hadn’t messed with the exp curve, but even so, on the scale of grinding that MMO’s have, its far closer to something like WoW than most games at this point (this coming from someone who once played lineage 2)

I like to lie to myself and say that it’s still open beta so maybe they’ll correct the exp curve when they finally release the higher content and unlock level 60.

I’m thinking they didn’t want people reaching the cap before they could put the content out.

There are roles in DFO, they just aren’t as concrete as Healer/Tank/DPS etc. Not everyone deals with groups the same, not every one is great at single target damage/juggling. Working together well makes dungeons a lot more simple to deal with.

Also the game is still in open beta. Take that as you will, we still have a lot of Acts to go through before we are up to date. That said many of your complaints are valid, though the exp curve will be brought into line. It’s all kinds of messed up in the beta.

Okay. If you played WoW, you’re definitely going to be spoiled when it comes to other MMOs. Especially the Korean/Free MMOs. So yeah, just lower the expectations, and you’ll be fine.

The high 30s do feel pretty grindy, but they’re not as bad as some of the other free MMOs out there. Maplestory would cost you an entire day for 5-10% of a level, if that. DFO ain’t that bad. Hopefully, as evidenced by the interview that was recently posted on here, they’ll re-evaluate the EXP curve with all the “data they’ve collected over the beta” or whatever that means.

this thread is more active with the fucking game being patched

Ironic, isn’t it?

Wait, you played WoW? You never told me you played WoW, you ever gained the sword of 1000 truths lol.

I guess the thing for me is I like the fact that characters in wow were successful in groups because of the mixing of buffs they brought each other, or that you can be more support type characters. I made a priest to just heal and buff, but you can’t really do that due to mana limitations with no regen really to speak of. if they made the mana/resource system a little more sensible I might be more enamored.

Yeah I tried maple story and wanted to /wrists about 5 minutes in.

Man, its hilarious how people are overpricing old trash (Ancient Memory +1 etc.) avatars to 1.5M.
