what’s the purpose of U1? i’ve been running with U2 for combos and to AA jaguar kicks/jump ins.

I’ve been have problems with Honda lately. A good Honda is like fighting a wall that I cannot seem to open up. Tips on the match-up?

agains honda you can use mp MGB to punish heavy head-butts, and you can also use ultra one to punish any head-butt. if he walks up to you hit him with a stand round house. short swing blow is pretty useless in this match up, so stay away from it. don’t go air to air with him, he wins every time. on his wake up if you think he’s gonna try to reversal crouch block, if he goes for butt slam you can knock him out of it with crouch heavy punch. try to focus his heavy kick, and remember he’s a charge character- down back is his best friend. go for the overhead mix up.

If he’s out footsie-ing you pick ultra 2 and try to punish a blocked heavy kick with it.

Also he has a weird hit box- after ex mgb do mp duck upper instead of light- its much more consistent.

What are having trouble with exactly? Footsies? Getting in? Staying in? Punishes?

As for general tips:

Outside of pokes similar to s.HP, it can be hard to land s.HK xx EX MGB/whatever in footsies.
c.MP buffers
You gotta respect Honda’s c.LP, that move is so good.
Watch for him to lose charge (if ever) that is the best time to try to jump in (if you are in range, and aren’t predictable).
Oki 2 so Honda is forced to lose charge.
Be patient and walk him to the corner.

What? Reversal crouch block?? Had me laughing for a good minute.

Honda’s s.HK is -7 on block
Corkscrew Cross has 8 frame start up, not a punish for Honda’s s.HK

Mostly I have trouble in footsies against this character. s.hk and c.lp get me every time.

my bad, I hadn’t tested it, but I was out civil war this weekend and saw Honda’s heavy kick get punished by chuns super, I should have tested it before suggesting to try it. stick with ultra 1 for sure then. And honda can auto correct his head-butt so if you’re gonna mess with his charge you have to do it fast.

focus check him! standing heavy kick is easy to focus, as is his chop (not sure what button that is) but if you try to focus check too often a good honda player can do jab into hands easily. its a tough match up for sure.

Also any tips for Dhalsim and Guile? I have trouble with both of them?

yeah I’ve been trying to punish the booms with U1 and it’s tough. I’ve only been playing since the beginning of march though so my reactions need to get better. Do you recommend jumping his fireballs, doing duck straight, or empty duck?
