Dudley Q&A: Let's learn... like Gentlemen!

Tutorial’s hit confir combos are great to start off with
As it says in the tutorial (in my sig) c.MP should only be combo’d into if you’re too far to link into s.HK.

get some punish combos down.

Anyone catch Marn on whatever stream was on a few days ago? NEC The Aftermath or something like that?

Anyway, when Marn finally pulled out Dudley (I believe against Mike G) he did a combo a couple times that I couldn’t even understand in the couple times I saw it. Anyone know what the buttons are? It looked like half his normals were used. Possibly a TC mixed with links (like the “marn” combo)?

Sorry I can’t describe it better but if anyone caught that and can help I’d really appreciate it. I love me some flashy meter building combos.

The combo you are talking about is definitely only flashy. A combo that involves a target combo, which is almost every Marn combo, is worse than a regular link combo. Target combos scale the meter gain more than links and don’t build much meter at all. If the meter gain wasn’t scaled they’d be too good in that respect.

Sorry I should have clarified. I want to know it for the sake of having another stupid ass combo to pull on friends.

Regarding TC’s scaling meter though, are you specifically referring to TCs within combos or just in general? Because the reason I assumed a TC link would build good meter is because TCs only seem useful for meter building right now as they build half a meter or more.

Either way, if someone could figure that nonsense out that’d be great.

@aftermath, dont quote me but I think he was incorporating the st. LK> st. MK TC in his combos, he’s been doing that lately. Its +4 on hit and basically no pushback, so you get get some normals in before the TC and after as well for a long fancy combo.

am i the only one that realizes that “marn combos” aren’t there just to be flashy?

Hello everybody!

new player that just started playing SSF4 on ps3 and I felt that Dudley was the character I wanted to learn right away :lovin:

I started working on how to do combos today and I ran into a “small” problem.

When I do c.lp, c.lp, s.HK combo, after the second c.lp I have somehow been moved away from the character so my S.HK just swings air? what am I doing wrong? :frowning:

I’m sorry if this has been asked&answered before.

thanks

It doesn’t work on crouching Blanka. It works on everyone else. You’re probably hitting s.hk too late.

I think every Dudley player has wtf’d at that. You’re probably doing the right thing it’s just that Capcom decided to give Dudley a pretty crappy hitbox on his most important combo normal. You’re just not close enough to the opponent.

Unfortunately the only place I found meter gain data only listed how much meter you gain in total for a tc and not per hit so this may not be right.

If I do Level 2 FA > liverblow > st.jab~st.strong TC > st. roundhouse xx duck straight, I will gain:

(40) + (40).8 + (40).6 + (60).5 + (40).4 = 142 meter and do 261 damage

If I do Level 2 FA > liverblow > cr. jab > st. roundhouse xx duck straight, I will gain:

(40) + (40).8 + (20).7 + (60).6 + (40).5 = 142 meter and do 280 damage

If the scaling for the st.jab~st.strong tc is higher, you gain more meter, but it definitely counts as two moves towards the next part of your combo.

In the target combos the damage and meter gain are for that specific hit of the target combo.

Can you refer me to somewhere that has it that way then? I just used the eventhubs thing because it was available and they just put it in a block.

…SRK wiki has the correct Dudley frame data. Anyone who uses eventhubs frame data is dumb, it hasn’t been updated since launch.

what beats blanka’s electricity cleanly

Crouch roundhouse.

Also, Kiku I just looked at the wiki frame data and it says the exact same thing as the Eventhubs data including the block meter gain for the st.jab~st.strong target combo. That’s not a defense of Eventhubs. They are certainly dumb, but where are you getting that it lists meter gain for each part of a target combo?

Depends on your distance but crMP and sHK work.

Yep your def right. Now to figure out what combos in and out of that TC. Thank you sir.

If anyones interested in seeing a fellow SRK Dudley on stream I’ll probably be on the Ga Tech casuals stream tonight. Unfortunately my SSFIV disc got destroyed a couple weeks ago so I’ve had very little practice so I apologize in advance for the dropped combos and missed punishes ha.

i know this isnt dudley specific but uh

i just grabbed Bison out of his EX Psycho Crusher on wake up

wtf was that

yea i remember doing something similar with makoto. I kara grabbed bison out of his EX psycho Crusher. was weird
