Wait, Dudley has a fast walk speed?
I certainly don’t feel that way against Chun-Li or M. Bison. They walk backward faster than you can walk forward.

Chun, Bison and Akuma have the fastest walk speed in the game.
Dudley has the 3rd fastest.

Quick question: Is the rumor true that when AE hits, Capcom is going wipe out everybody’s PP & BP?
First that I have heard of it. Sounds like it is just a rumor. Unless they repackage it as a new disc instead of DLC, I don’t see it happening.
I hope you’re right…
It’s just that I’m hearing alot of talk of that actually being confirmed alot guys over XBL and at the Weekly Fight night meetings at the Houston area arcades.
If it’s true then I’m going to scrap getting back over 3000PP and not try to get Rose & Juri to B-rank.
Guy is a pretty fun alternative when you wanna take a break from Duds. Or Makoto.
i like me some oni if my local arcade manages to unlock him.
After playing Cody… I found him so boring after a while… I started using…
It’s a shame this game doesn’t have Necro. He would be fun to play.
Well… if they added Urien, then…
I think Oni could be the SSF4, half-way version of Urien. Leaping overhead palm stomp is sort of like the knee drop and is apparently very good for killing mash tech, he has lots of long reaching and powerful normals as well as very good command normals, his EX cross-up slash -> Ultra is kind of (but not really) like unblock-able reflector set-ups.
Plus he’s got his own fun shit like air dashes, air demons and fireball cancelling f.fierce.
They clearly should’ve added Urien…
No Aegis Reflector = No Urien.
woo Dudley player has risen to top 20 at AE in Japan.
20:Captain Sawada (Dudley)/ 1262 matches, 936 wins/winning Pct. 74.17 % /BP 39478/MASTER
(7 Yuns in top 20 holy shit)
^ where can i find this list ???
The amount of Yun’s there is disgusting. I hope Zangief train wrecks him 7 - 3 as a counterpick character.
In all seriousness, I think Dudley might be a soft counterpick against Yun. He doesn’t completely dominate Yun like a few characters seem to, but the match up feels decently skewed towards Dudley from what I have experienced so far.
The more and more I play Dudley in AE the more I think he is probably at the low end of High tier. Many of the bad match ups that he had in super feel more 5/5 now. Unfortunately I don’t think it will translate so easily for online players when lag is factored in after the DLC hits. Lag hurts Dudley’s gameplay too much =(
From watching the Marn video’s where his dudley takes on Yun, it seemed like he was losing a lot more than he was winning…and his gameplay options seemed at a disadvantage to Yun making me “feel” like it was a bad matchup. Of course your actual experiences with the game count for more…so what exchanges in particular make you feel that it slightly favours Dudley?
It pretty much seems to me like a match that hinges on the amount of mistakes that Dudley can make vs the amount of mistakes that Yun can make.
Both the twins have really low health and really low stun. So on a core level, Dudleys damage output, without meter, can potentially win you the game should Yun make just two mistakes, 3 mistakes and its definitely over. With meter, it can consistently be reduced to two mistakes. Whereas Dudley’s health allows him to afford making 3 or 4 mistakes when Yun does not have meter. But if Yun has super, that is when the risk starts to even out.
Yun has pretty mediocre footsies, and his better ranged normals are easy to counterpoke with buffered st. RH. Yun needs to be up close against Dudley to be effective, but that is where Dudley is comparatively more effective. If he makes one mistake up close it will cost him half his life in an instant. So the range that Yun is meant to be most effective simultaneously puts him in a position with very high risk.
Yun also does not get out of pressure as easily as Yang does. Yun has no real safe reversal. Yang has fadc for his up kick reversal, and he has ex command dash to escape. Yun only has reversal up kicks that cannot be FADCed. So if Yun wants to reversal to stop Dudley’s pressure game, he has to commit to it or get punished for half health. Both of them can also try to reversal with command grab, but it has got a bad hitbox and seems pretty slow to me. Yun’s reversal up kicks are also slow on start up and easy to safe jump. I have also seen them get stuffed by random normals on occasion, but I don’t quite know why yet.
Yun also seems to have relatively poor anti airs. His up kicks are good and his stand MK (I think, at least) seems good as a far AA, but that is about it as far as I have seen.
Lastly, Dudley’s anti air normals work pretty well against Yun’s dive kicks. A lot of times I will just footsie with buffered RH, since they like to mix dive kicks into their footsies as a mix up. If RH does not connect because they go for a dive kick, it often anti airs them instead. You can also option select his dive kicks like you can against Rufus with crouch tech + cr. FP, but this is slightly less effective because of the command grab option that Yun has.
I think both characters have a good amount of things to fear from one another, but Dudley next to Yun often feels the way Gief does next to Dudley. You want to be in close, but that is also where you are most vulnerable. But I still have yet to play against a truly fearsome Yun, so it might be too early to call, but I have definitely seen some competent ones out there and have rarely found the match up difficult.
