EX duck probably changes the properties of the followups too. Until we know if and what it does it’s kinda hard to call it useless. Maybe a wallbounce on ex straight (lol no).
Now I’m just imagining a wallbounce, but Capcom gives Dudley no way to follow it up.
Someone said somewhere what if EX Duck passed through and instantly thought of Slayer’s S dandy step in GGAC. Imagine if you’re back was to the corner and you hit sHK EX duck and now the opponent is in the corner? that would be crazy.
That would be interesting, but it doesn’t sound very fitting. Dudley isn’t a Ninja or a super human or anything like that.
His dignity and class are superhuman.
I wish EX ducking was simply and armored move, but maybe it will be useful. These changes are definitely not what I was hoping for, but they at least seem somewhat helpful. The cr,hk buff in particular.
If they gave Dudley a real SRK, then I would be fine if he got nothing else. Would at least hope to see the rose become useful as well.
It’s only a loctest. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an EX duck (There’s EX version of everything else, no matter how useless) but if it’s likely to be changed or removed, I’m going to try really hard not to think about it.
EX duck has no armor, but what about invisibility ?
I would gladly use 1 or 2 ex duck to close up against dhalsim without getting “limbed” on my way in !
Same goes for guile going thru sonic boom and turning punch.
Yeah, I’m not getting my hopes up for anything until the update is actually released. I know Dudley went through a lot of sweeping changes in the last few months before Super was released. Lots of those were simply bug fixes though.
Anyway, if EX ducking does have no recovery, then it might be a good way to bait out certain moves in some match ups. I know akuma’s love to fireball and then try to catch the recovery of a duck with a Demon. EX duck I’m guessing would put a stop to that.
If it had no armor, I think we can safely assume that he was getting hit out of EX duck since he needs to be hit to see if there was armor.

That is what an EX ducking will look like, and I assume play as. minus the ultra i believe.
Well, the only thing that ex ducking can be without super armor is a faster hk ducking, which might gives us more combos, or maybe finally punish guile for his sonic booms…
yea but to waste a whole bar on a ex ducking str8 for 1 sonic boom seems kinda dumb.
yup, but maybe it knockdowns on hit? we have to wait, I think there will be more buffs for dudley…
"Dudley - As I said before, EX Ducking. Seems to have the same distance and speed as RH Ducking, just recovers WAY faster. If you happen to EX Duck through a fireball, you can pretty much choose what you want to hit your opponent with. Does NOT have armor, was still vulnerable to pokes and counters. Don’t know how it could possibly work in combos, had to fight against a Balrog player who wasn’t really interested in letting me experiment with stuff. C.Roundhouse is different - maybe a little faster. I did it as an AA, but was not able to follow up, as my opponent didn’t fly up as high. J.RH knocks down if the opponent is also airborne, but the knockdown is techable (opponent can quick wake up). Jet upper still seems to have no invincibility frames, still got stuffed. "
omg…dudley’s getting buffs!
to be honest the only thing I was hear or see is that dudley’s jet upper startup frames increase. I think this is dudley’s main weakness because his wake-up is just so bad, and the only thing you could possible use is EX Jet Upper, and you will almost always give up 3 ex bars if you wanna get into a safe wake-up, or you’ll just have to block and tech grab.
From the sounds of it, he has been buffed, which is very good! The only problem with EX Ducking is that now you can’t plink a regular ducking, something I do to make execution easier on characters on whom the Duck Straight -> Jet Uppercut combo connects midscreen on. Might be time to practice those combos without the plink starting from now ;).
EX Duck sounds very promising. If it recovers really quickly it will add a new dimension to his offence, as any block string canceled into an EX Ducking is going to be a nightmare for opponents to deal with. I think it will make opponents mash even more when on the defence against Dudley, and that can be a very risk thing to to against a character than can rob you of 50%+ health easily.
Additionally, against characters that can basically keep you out with one move (Dhalsim / Bison / Chun / etc), this could be a really useful tool. On reaction to Dhalsim whiffing a limb, you’ll be able to EX Duck to get inside super quick, and at the very least start putting him in blockstun and changing the match pace so that you are in control. You may even have the time to go straight into Stand HK xx whatever.
Logan, you say it won’t help with Guile, but it most definitely could! You might have to do it really fast, but if you can EX Duck through a Sonic Boom and start hitting Guile with a combo, it will change the match a lot. And even if it only lets you start putting him in blockstun. it’s still a great tool, as getting in is the hardest thing about that match-up. Right now, you can punish a Sonic Boom with Rolling Thunder or Corkscrew Cross, but you have to be quite close to do it. But this requires you to have Ultra meter stocked, which is not always the case. This will give you the option earlier in the fight - a very good thing!
I agree that Swing Blow is the move I would really like to see changed, as it was such a force in 3S. However, I can see LV2 Focus Attack, Dash Forwards, EX Swing Blow being really strong, and I actually think that this was probably the reason why Swing Blow is as bad as it is at the moment. Still it being -4 on block is overkill!
if it gives you a hk > followup instead of a ducking straight to punish fireballs, damn…that is one good buff…
Anti air cr. HK didn’t launch high enough for followup?
Lame
Yeah it’s my favorite out of his mixup game from 3rd strike. They do their throw animation and you punish with ssb into corkscrew cross/rocket upper. But… they didn’t have fadc, focus, invulnerable back dash, or crouch tech in 3rd strike. All which make ssb somewhat obsolete. It’s just not meant for this engine. Saying all that I still hope it gets buffed.
