Dudley Changes in Arcade Release(updated1stpost)

If a grab and an attack go active at the same time, grabs always win. If it was neutral, grab would always win against a 3f jab done at the same time, so you can’t mixup or you’ll get thrown by someone mashing throw. +1 would be the ideal advantage to allow Dudley to mixup (jab > mashing throw), but still allow for an escape (backdash).

if they’re stand grabbing you could hit them with short swing blow or neutral jump roundhouse. If they’re crouch teching and they don’t have a 3 frame short or aren’t mashing it they get counter hit. Usually, if they’re standing, they’re gonna grab. It would be kinda like Cammy’s dive kick then.

I think honestly what dudley needs is a move that gives him ex armor like his duck/dash move where like ELf can run with armors and Able has an ex cod honestly to make Dudley better he needs to have a move where he has armor maybe on his SSB or Machine gun blow something because today Casually I played a Sim offline and I couldnt get in at all wtf So I imagine yall Dudley players cry for help he needs that imo what yall think?

He doesn’t “need” armor but it would nice. If he could get in easier, he would be broken because Dhalsim loses in like 2 combos and can be stunned in one.

Armor? not really, boxing wise he is not meant to.

Balrog has armor because he is what boxers call an In fighter. He needs to get in to get damage done, and trains on how to take hits to do so. (much like his irl counterpart Tyson)

But Dudley is whats called an Out fighter. He seeks to maintain distance and fight with faster, longer range punches. Style wise, he would not train to take hits so it wouldnt make sence

Only, according to the game mechanics, they’re the exact opposite.

The Sim match is actually 10-0 lol but I suck with Dudley so I would say 7-3 at best but maybe if he did have an armor move it would be better he needs one ex stock to perform it so I can see him staying closer in the fight and not getting socked in the knee caps all day

BTW I like rolling thunder in the match with Sim I thought i would add that lil bit of info. It works for me a little bit better than corkscrew cross.

Yup…BUT, you had to tech throws standing, that would get you a hk ssb > corkscrew blow on the face always, now the lk one wiffs because of a c.lk, and the mk and hk will be blocked because the c.lk recovers on time… overall its a almost useless skill, it needs a tweak imo…

not saying that they should remove crouch tech or something lol, just saying that if it usually trade with a c.lk or c.mk people would stop to making the skill useless by spamming buttons and block instead…

Pretty sure crouch teching was in 3rd Strike.

Yeah… zangief got a kara ex green hand to punish blanka balls, but I don’t see the pros pulling it that often…

I’ve lately found that Short Swing Blow is actually fairly useful against really really bad players. No but seriously, it’s semi-ok if you delay it juuust a bit before activating on opponent’s wakeup. Start it a few frames after their getup animation begins. lp.Srks miss it and get hit on the way down, and it (usually in my experience) punishes whiffed normals like jabs and light kicks. Most people try to tech as soon as they get up if you’re next to them. Delaying the SSB very slightly means that the jab or short whiffs completely rather than stuffing your swing blow, but you return just in time to punish the whiff.

If I remember correctly, I also scored a couple of counterhits in this way. This SHOULD mean that I’m activating EARLIER than usual on the events that I get a counterhit, but it’s always my conscious decision to delay the SSB as much as possible.

Don’t use against slow reversals like Balrog’s headbutt.

Even if I would like capcom to improve some of dudleys moves, thunderbolt and ssb would still not be that important. I’m more interested in tools that would help dudley against guile and dhalsim.

I like thunderboltto chip people to death and its a mix up for me after a knock down I like to crouch on there wake up an if they back dash I get them or if they srk its a great punish SSb needs more work but damage is nice but the ex version I think is really good for people who like to focus to much

Depends on the situation, but it really isn’t smart to try to crouch tech on Dudley in 3s unless you’re late-teching.

That’s not what I was saying. He said you had to tech standing in 3rd Strike and I corrected him saying crouch teching was in 3S too.
