Dual Strike PCB now with EX Strike PCB - http://www.arcadeforge.de

This works onetimes, another times dont work, I have the wires conected to the DS pcb, and the madcatz SE pcb conected by the piggyback, the stick isn´t a SE/TE, it´s a custom, so I buyed this madcatz pcb and assembled at the DS pcb, I´ve soldier the piggyback into SE pcb, but this do not work all times, I think the USB signal it´s week, yesterday I put the DS in passtrought mode and this work.

What exactly isn’t working? My guess are cold soldering spots - check possibly bad lines with a multimeter.

Just don´t recognized, but now it´s all ok, I think it´s cold soldering too, I´m not an expert in soldering.
one thing; I do not solder the ground line, instead I solder the ground common, it´s that right?

Good to hear

It should be the same line - another case for the multimeter

I’m from the USA, where can I buy the Dual Strike? Thank you.

Hey guys. I updated the Dual Strike SMD firmware on my Mad Catz TE-S to v2.01, but I’m now having a new issue where I cannot play PS2 games on the PS3. Non of the inputs work, including the home button. Is there a way to solve this issue?

Were you able to play ps2 games before the update? Does it still work on ps3? Did you make sure to run the bat file for the SMD version? Try reupdating and make sure the update was completed.

I just reupdated the SMD, unfortunately it does not appear to have solved the problem. It’s as if the controller is unplugged. I was able to play PS2 games before the update though.

I’ve found something when using my DS-modded stick that may or may not be interesting:

If I turn my 360 off (either by the power button or using the controller), when I turn it back on again it doesn’t recognise the controller. I wonder if this is to do with the fact the 360 keeps the controller powered. I thought maybe when I turn the 360 on the DS is going into PS3 mode (I’ve set the DS to default to 360 mode and go into PS3 mode when holding a button) but I don’t think I can test this. The only way around it is to unplug and reconnect the controller.

This IS interesting, but I have no idea how to fix this. If the 360 powers the USB ports after turning off it should work, if not it should work too with your settings. Strange… Maybe somehow button pins are pulled low on powering the 360 on? You can test which PCB has USB connection by taking multimeter readings of the S1 and S2 pins, if S1 is high the DS has the USB connection, if S2 is high the pass-through PCB has the USB connection. If none is high neither has, if both are high something’s wrong…

So I bought a dual strike TE PCB earlier this week. Is there any notification that it shipped or a tracking number? I always get a bit apprehensive when ordering overseas.

Looking forward to using it with phreak’s TEasy.

Another satisfied consumer, I got the dual strike v2 from Phreak with a TEasy for my TE-S and it works great! I love that I can configure it via software.

Also I wanted to note the following things that I experienced:

Even after I’ve updated to firmware 2.0.0 it reports as 1.8.0 in control panel

The manual indicates that pressing any non-special button should switch to Pass-thru mode, however I’ve found that ONLY pressing the A button would switch to pass-thru when in X360 default, and ONLY pressing the X button will go to pass thru when in Pc/PS3 default mode.

Manual indicates using direction down at startup will activate both analog and digital direction input but this doesn’t seem to work. I couldn’t get both analog and digital to activate when testing in windows no matter what I set to the default / pressed at startup

Of course, it could be an error in my installation but using the Teasy it was very, very straightforward and everything else is otherwise working.

Great product, highly recommend!!!

I believe you have to hold down and left to activate both analog and digital directions.

Sure, shipped it yesterday via airmail!

This is a known inconsistency, it will be fixed with the next firmware version 2 release.

This is already fixed in Firmware 2.0.1.

Aargh, sorry the information wasn’t removed together with this function. The joystick mode switches (e.g. on TEs) don’t have such a function and after thinking about it it seemed of no practical use to allow this double mapping. Also it could have been a source of problems (customers stating “movement is to fast”). The readme is now updated accordingly on Google docs as well as in the archives.

Excellent, thanks for the quick replies guys, that makes perfect sense.

Great product! Love it!

Thanks, I’ll give it a try later on. I was wondering if it might be to do with changing the default mode. I’ll let you know later what happens…

:UPDATE:

I tried updating the firmware to 2.0.1 and gave the configuration editor a fiddle. I think I’ve narrowed it down to the home button emulation. I switched between default PS3 and default pass-through, and the 360 recognised the pad properly at startup, but as soon as I enabled home button emulation it stopped doing it and I’d have to unplug and reconnect the stick to get it to recognise it again.

Mmmh, never had any problems with home emulation… What it does is pulling the appropriate pin low if Start and Select are simultaneously pressed. Which 360 PCB are you using? Pulling the pin low might drain too much current from the other PCB… I’m bad at electrical things, the other guys should know what might help. I’m guessing at a diode or resistor, but I really don’t have a clue…

Just placed an order for a DualStrike for TE dual-modding; I was going to build one myself, but then I remembered that my AVR programmer’s on the fritz and I’ve got better things to do than try and fix that right now. It’ll also be nice to not have to fab a board myself, and know that the build quality will bet a lot better than me throwing it together on perfboard.

I want to crack my stick open to change the art (again), so I figured I may as well add PS3 support in finally, while the guts are exposed anyways. :stuck_out_tongue:

I look forward to the pleasureful, uneventful experience that will be installation, I’m sure.

Ok, i’ve just tried a TEasy + Dual strike mod and at the moment the stick isn’t being recognised either by the xbox360 or my laptop (tried firmware update). Hard to know which thread this belongs to so i’ll post in both!

My first guess is that i didn’t strip the usb lines enough after cutting them off the madcatz pcb (i actually didn’t cut very close to the pcb so it meant i had to strip back the usb cable itself to get more access the the black/red/white/green lines). There’s a lot of copper coil and white stringy stuff in there too, i guess that’s not needed? I’m going to try to strip the usb lines a but more now.

My second guess is that the TEasy board is not perfectly attached to the madcatz pcb (it was trickier than i thought to attach but it is attached). I’m pretty sure the ribbon cable is attached properly, following purplearms video in the TEasy thread.

Any other ideas as to what could be wrong?
