Dual-stick / Twin Stick Guide and Work Log

Would it be easy to mod this with a hacked psx or ps2 pcb?

Hehe, I’ll be contributing to this thread in the very near future

I don’t see why not, there are 2 PS2 Virtual-on titles, Virtual-on Marz and the Sega Ages release of Cyber Troopers Virtual-On (Japanese)

I see easily see how one of your converters would be awesome here. As rare as the Sega Twin sticks are getting, it would almost preferable to keep stock.

But I also like to see some more Dual-Stick mods as well

Hey Dark, do you know any other place that has those Sanwa MS-0-2 Switch lever microswitches besides lizard lick and arcadeshop?

If Armored Core ever became a tournament viable series, I’d love to see these used…

Gah, why are there no “build your mech” games in competitive circles…?

Here’s my Twin Stick named the “No Homo”.

Its dual modded with a ChimpSMD and 360 Madcatz pad. It also uses a Dual Strike SMD, but its firmware was changed so that it isn’t a ps3 controller, but a filter for the right joystick inputs. The reign of the stick-less hitboxes is over! Welcome the era of the button-less* No-Homo sticki ^

  • button-less on the control panel at least
^ Plural of sticks that have more than one joy stick on them.

do diagonals count as a separate buttons? Like RB/LT? Or is it like a right analog

In mine, atm diagonals do not count as any button press. However, I can change the firmware to change the inputs to whatever I want to like making diagonals count as a different button.

Armored Core is probably my favorite mech series (still have to get around to beating for answer).
And i would absolutely go nuts if I was able to use a twin stick to play it but armored core has need for more buttons than what these twin sticks can offer plus you would have to hack the analog pots.
you can see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDRyYXz3q8o&feature=player_embedded
Now if anyone wants to tell a brother where he can get the sticks with more buttons then I dont know what you are waitin for.

So I just won a Smash TV PCB on eBay. Aside from needing to finish my audio attenuation circuit, I need to build proper controls for the damn thing. I was thinking of using http://www.alliedelec.com/search/productdetail.aspx?SKU=70080009#tab=specs"]these as the stick housing, using vinyl dye to make one blue and one red. I know people have mounted sticks in these before, but will Happ Competition sticks and a Happ button fit? I’m aiming for as authentic an experience as possible, and there’s probably nothing more authentic than Happ for the American king of violent twinstick shooting action.

Why is it that when Gummo is involved, there’s a good chance it’ll end up really messy looking?

I wanted to post this when it was completely done but I dont know when I will have the time to do all that I wanted to do to it, so i will just post it.

I still need to do the art and add the LEDs for the control panel as well as when you fire each weapon and turbo. Maybe one day I will finish it.

I was thinking about building a Dual Stick but for FPS. Using it like left and right Analog and a button setup like the Ps2 Gamester FPS Master.

O.o

But is troof.

But its not that messy? Especially for a prototype.

This is my Dual Stick construction. I plan to make a similar control panel using the same sized box but with a spinner and a trigger joystick like the one Darksakul is using.

I’ll be able to place both contol panels side-by-side so i can use both together!

Are those 2 Sanwa JWLs and Happ or IL Buttons?

The right stick is a Mag Stick Plus. The left stick and buttons are IL. I got 2 of them and plenty of buttons (for free) from an arcade center that went out of business in the late 90’s.
