Thanks for the info–I thought I didn’t see any new skills open after the last wax seal mark was filled in, so I thought it must be for something different.
Sounds like I’m just too early in the game, so Ferrystones feel terribly expensive. It’s a relief to hear you say that, since now I won’t be so hesitant to use them after a long trek out for a quest.
I’m still really surprised at how good this game is, honestly.
ANYWAY, yeah, vocation gives you access to more skills, so be sure to check with Gran Soren Inn every time your vocation goes up… a lot of the skills are really hype, so I’m always excited to go and check.
I also recommend changing vocations often since you can actually stack skills from different vocations… in the event that you want to go back to your old vocation, it actually costs nothing other than the hassle of re-equipping stuff.
If you’re hurting for a mage (who I think is the only one who can access healing spells), just hire a pawn Mage using the Rift Stone thingy… shit is like google and you can select the parameters of what you want summoned into the rift.
ALSO… don’t know if people know this, but you can actually purchase an item that will let you customize your character (as in full customization, surpassing the barber shop’s options… you can make a brand new character with a new name if you wanted)… so if you screwed something up, don’t worry too much about it.
Some amount of money needs to be passed on to other people. Saving money only helps yourself, while spending money helps everyone. Do you think that Capcom is taking the DLC money and placing it in piles, then jumping in the money piles while singing about how they scammed everyone? No, they are taking that money and putting it back into another game. I think that people sometimes forget that companies want profit so they can develop more product. I’m not saying that everyone should run out and buy DLC, but I am saying that if you have disposable income, and getting the DLC will enhance your utility, then buy the DLC.
This one I can kind of understand.
Unfortunately I have close to zero imagination, and I cannot immerse myself in anything (game/book/movie/etc). I sometimes forget that people care about things other than gameplay. It’s honestly a little hard for me to accept the concept of immersion because I have little idea what it is like. I mean, can’t you just re-immerse yourself after the advertisement? You have to re-immerse yourself everytime you turn on the game, right?
Compare this game to TTT2, Namco predicts they will sell 2 mil copies.
Assuming they sell that in a short time worldwide before the price drops:
$60 x 2,000,000 = $120,000,000 (120 mil!)
Granted, Tekken is established, and they have/will spend some of dat $ beforehand on marketing, but c’mon man. TTT2 is going to sell a lot more than that, but even with price drop them niggaz are getting $100+ mil off a game WITH FREE DLC.
This new Capcom is destroying so many of their legacy IPs that games like DD - which could arguably be compared to Bionic Commando in terms of being an under-the-radar gem - have to resort to snakey tactics to make $. I’m not buying it (pun intended)
Never once gotten a in game advertisement other than the stuff when you first boot up. If someone is going to stop playing a game they already bought due to something this stupid and say their “sticking it to the man” to the man has some obvious mental problems.
Have issue with in game DLC if you want * I have the same problems to* but don’t be fucking stupid over it, you could have done some research into the game first to see if it did these practices you don’t support It was clear day one it would have DLC like this and could have not bought it then and you could ahve been on your moral high horse and have a point. Anyway, back to enjoying DD.
How long did you people hold on to Rook? I feel like I should get rid of him since he’s pretty low level now compared to my main guy/pawn, but he seems to have information on a lot of the main story-ish missions. Like, he knew the way through Witchwood. I would of had no idea what path to take otherwise.
I’m frustrated with how shitty the pawn commands are, specifically in regard to trying to get my only mage (fuckin Rook) to actually heal my other party members. I mean, we’ll be standing around, two others in the party have low, low health. So you’d expect the only person with healing spell to, ya know … heal them. He’s not doing shit though, so I tell him, ‘Help’. ‘Help’ to me, means do something helpful in this situation aka fucking heal people. This asshole though … man, just starts giving us all fire enchantments. Like that’s great and all guy, but maybe you wanna heal your party members on the verge of death first? Shouldn’t that kind of take precedent? For fuck’s sake. Is just Rook this retarded, or does this happen with other mages?
Just finished the game. Ending was a just one long mind fuck of sorts. Will write up a more detailed review in a bit.
By the way, anyone else feel like the Warrior class is outright useless compared to the other classes? Just about everything else either has more utility or does their damage a lot faster.
[details=Spoiler]Went on after you kill the dragon, the red one that is. Decided to save my love interest (Selene apparently since I gave her like 10 herbs for a notice-board quest lol) and fought the Dragon. Then game threw me for a loop with credits and then landing back in Cassardis as the world turns to shit. Que Gran Soren, the Everfall, and massive mindfuck exposition at the end.

I started over. I was getting NOWHERE with my Strider. Gonna start with a Fighter this time. I named my main character Zechs and I’m gonna name my pawn…
My main mage pawn is generally pretty competent at healing, but, it could be that Rook’s personality traits are screwed up. You might want to try finding mages with Medicant as their main trait. I got rid of that nigga the very second I could anyways, he’s a pretty shitty mage in the first place.
Right, here’s my pawn. Name’s Lynn, the one on the left, level 32 now I think, and I have her almost maxed out as a ranger. Don’t see much difference between that and a maxed strider though.
Awwww, I grew quite attached to having her in my party. I really did put a lot of work into her. Storywise, it’s still early game for me, basically just finished Everfalls but haven’t began the wyrm hunt. I’ve completed every single quest from all the notice boards+npcs available as well as uncovered a great deal of the map and I manage to keep her in my party for most of it. I’m guessing you didn’t sleep at inns a lot because whenever I’d send her off and then re-hire her later, she’d never return with the stuff I equipped on her…well she did only once. Remember, sleeping at an inn is the only way to receive items from other players as well as update your pawn’s stats for others to hire, if you don’t they will remain at the last level and with the same skill+equipment set from the last time you slept. I spent about 50k+ worth of equipment on her in order for her to roll with my lv.30+ party, if you had slept she would have came back with a ton of new monster/area knowledge along with the best equipment at that point of the main story. Was gonna buy her some flame daggers but decided against it because it seemed like you weren’t receiving all the equipment I was giving her. Ah well, best of luck with your new game, I’d hire your pawn but I don’t need another fighter.
R.I.P Lv.12 Rogue, slayer of chimeras and hob goblins. Yes she died A LOT but she was a helluva trooper.
You’ll guys putting on spoiler tags on the ending like if this game has a story.
I re-rolled into a Fighter and playing the game from there.
Yea, the game is a lot more fuckin’ fun, as now I can actually do things. Character has fuckin’ Dante’s moves, I wonder when I get my guns.
I’ll only get my copy tomorrow but it does seem like the game does a ton of things that are GOOD for immersion, and very few bad ones which this is one of them. So give it some slack…
Furry is that your pawn, Apollo? Lvl 24 Fighter. Its got the little buddy icon next to him and I think you’re one of the few on my friends list that’s playing this game.
I don’t know why it doesn’t show the gamertag of who created it, unless I’m doing something wrong.
There’s so much shit to do in this game. I’m kind of just wondering around going into random caves and such.
Are you guys leveling up your weapons or just waiting to buy new/better ones?
PS3, sadly. This game really needs to be cross platform, it’s just stats and numbers, no real gameplay.
We should have a list in the op of gamertags and which platform we’re on. I’ve mentioned it before, but my tag is Kitsunisan.
