Akazukin ChaCha:

I hope to be checking out your stream tonight. DUnno if he told you as yet, but Aaron is my good friend. I can’t believe the rat bastard never mentioned he had been playing DC all this time!

Anyway, I run Dwarf solo, and I run with Max Power Bomb/Eagle Dive/Powdered Mastery (recently toned this tone one bit to get Frenzy to max - see more later). Prior to Ultimate, I had no problems double Grand Smashing stuff, throwing for CC, and juggling with Eagle Dive bombs. I had Frenzy at Level 4 but never used it, never used Lava Bracer, etc. because the damage compared to Double Grand Smash wasn’t worth it, not to mention standing still and punching things on Infernal and deep in LoC just wasn’t smart.

Now on Ultimate, though, Grand Smash damage seems to have flatlined for me at around 30,000. It hasn’t gone up in strength for the past 50 levels (I’m Level 161 now) and it doesn’t seem affected by dmg+x% traits, only Power Smash dmg+x% (which maxes out at 30%) and dmg to type traits. My regular attacks, though, have gone up, with a full frenzy combo netting me 120,000, upwards of 240,000 with the right equipment. Dwarf’s DPS is abysmal in Ultimate story, so I started punching things again, but with limited success because, as has long been the case, punching things is not safe.

Now this glitch comes along and makes punching things pretty much mindless. That said, his damage STILL sucks, though I’m probably not running with optimal dmg-dealing builds. Throwing things is still good for CC, and throwing The Rock™ makes certain boss fights easy (Gazer and Killer Rabbit are total jokes even in Ultimate story now, and Chimera is pretty easy as well with just double grand smash and throwing The Rock™ against the wall by the lion head), but overall, taking out bosses even with Super Tank Dwarf takes forever. I spent about 30 minutes fighting the Wraith, tanking everything and barely inflicting dmg because I couldn’t get a chance to punch and I didn’t want to double Grand Smash (that was before I learned that the glitch takes effect merely by having glitch hammers in the bag). The Kraken was also a 20 minute fight that I actually lost the first time (all equipment broke, Pumped Up ran out in mid air and I ate 1200 dmg from a lizardman spear dive, LOL), but the second time I learned that The Rock™ is there and that made things much better.

So even though Dwarf is now all but immortal, killing things is still bosses with adds is still big issue. Outside of hacked equipment (I have the bones of a L216 Dwarf doing 50,000 on a simple jump attack, 500,000+ for a full frenzy combo, etc), I’m not sure what can be done.

Yea, Aaron even posted in this thread several times (he is Zero on SRK)! lol you just happened to miss those times  I think I remember you from wayyyyy back in Rochesters OG days man.

Glad we pretty much agree on glitch dwarf not having great solo tools. Frenzy/Bracers is not the answer. I am leaning towards maximizing throw damage and eagle dive/powder. This not only will be more effective vs bosses with a fuckton of adds, it will also get you hit far less, which is good for preventing item degradation.
The shitty thing is on Ultimate Talisman quests, the bosses take so little damage in general (when you are sub 255 in level). So on the Cyclopese fight, the Dwarf does NO damn effective damage to the hands that pull the gate up. Grand Smash is the best option there (boulder does squat, eagle bombs also miss often and do nothing), but literally that is the only fight you seem to need it for with the glitch build… So annoying.

We’ll see what i can come up with tonight.

Man, I had a 30 minute fight with the Demon King.

Shit was epic.

I think you don’t understand that Ultimate bosses take forever for any class to take down, it’s not just the Dwarf, in fact I think we have it easier, we can mindlessly mash away at bosses without any real threats now.

Really, Ultimate is not made for solo, shit takes forever solo.

I’m not running Ultimate without others, shame that no one makes it to the boss to help me.

I need some of you Dwarf bruhs to run some with me.

Actually, I didn’t check out this thread (or much online really) before recently because I was too busy playing DC! I was playing DC (levelling up Wizard to 99 at the time, and I don’t even like Wizard) in the hospital when my wife was in labour about to give birth to our third child! I actually thought I’d be finished by now, but the bastards pulled me back in with the 1.05 patch!

You’re right about the Ultimate story CYclops fight. Actually, that was the first time I realised my old strategy of “Double Grand Smash, eagle dive/throw mobs, repeat” wasn’t cutting it, because it was taking SIX grand smashes to kill the hands, which means that the hands can NOT be killed before the door opens back up (the hands have 172,000 HP, BTW). I hear Double Grand smash and two x Max Eagle Dive bombs + Lava Bracer will do it, but I haven’t tested. That still seems rather dangerous, though it’s probably better now thanks to Glitch Hammers.

One thing I’ve noticed: If you’re running +dmg equips, when these equips break (and they WILL break), your regular dmg and Frenzy goes waaay down, so much so that double Grand Smash (which doesn’t seem to be affected by dmg+ traits) is his best bet again. Plus, Grand Smash is still the best for getting enemies off you for when you need to Pump Up.

Also, Immortal Dwarf build won’t help with Gargoyle Gate. Maybe with a dmg to obj build, but otherwise, you can’t kill the mobs to drop cannonballs fast enough solo before the cannons get taken out and the gate gets bombarded.

Of course, Ultimate story is no supposed to be taken out solo, but regardless, I find it ridiculous that Dwarf DPS is so gimped outside out hacked equipment.

edit:

Pterodactyl, what floor are you on? Cause up to at least floor 144 of ToM, no fight with Demon Lord should take that long with Dwarf.

Not a fan of how you worded that brah, lol. Of course we understand. It’s all about not accepting shit and finding ways to break the game better!
Did you read nothing else of what we said? Frenzy is shit and the vast majority of adds have some sort of grab/stun/freeze, so lava bracers+powder= not a factor, since you simply CANNOT stand your ground against the boss and mash. So we were discussing safer and better alternatives to such tedious boss fights such as Cyclopes, Wraith and Medusa.

We are both thinking that either Eagle Dive or Grand Smash (or both) are essential to doing real damage and buying time for pumping up in a lot of boss fights…and we brought it up because some dude was just shitting on Eagle Dive.

and OF COURSE I am up for dwarf runs together! But my dwarf is way behind my Elf (my main) in tower progression, only like 15 floors in and below 120 in level!

So eagle dive and bombs aren’t useless I take it. But you need them both to make them effective?

I don’t know if Bombs are worth it per se, but to get powder mastery up you have to level something so might as well bring em, especially if you already wasted your slots irreversibly on lv deep pockets, gotta have something useful to bring along.

But yea, I will be testing soon, but Eagle Dive should be a viable solution to boss fights with tons of adds that pose problems to ground fighting.

Bah, Blizzard like conditions has shut our stream down for the night, we’ll do an impromptu one later this week to make up for it and get in all that hot, sweaty Dwarf man-action in.

do you guys normally stream at a regular time? I’d love to get in on the action yo

yea we have typically been doing every Monday at 8pm EST. I post the link in this thread whenever we are live. We have missed a few weeks here and there due to holidays and a venue change, but not many.

We do 4-man local, the only time we go online is when dudes don’t show. But we love any kind of interaction we can get, we actively converse with stream chatters and what not and cover/talk about new findings from week to week, as well as describe basics and provide opinions to curious onlookers.

No stream tonight? Suckage. Heard about the cold. Hope you guys are alright.

Update: The Immortal Dwarf glitch works even if BOTH Colossal Chaos Hammers break. My 18 floor run, where everything but the two glitch hammers broke on floor 18, turned into a 23 floor run (145 to 167) after I started using the glitch hammers themselves. My first glitch hammer broke on floor 22 of the run (floor 166), and the second one broke on floor 23 (167). End boss was Warlock, which has The Rock™ in it so it was no worries. Even though everything was broken, I still tanked everything for 1HP. I made sure to eat all hits of his Meteor just to be sure. My Dwarf calmly ate his apple and took 1HP per hit while the skeletons around him took 20,000+ from the explosions, LOL.

Aside note: Was The Rock™ always in the Kraken stage? I’ve fought that guy 12982139871230812 times, and yesterday was the first time I noticed it was there!

I think they added it in Ultimate, I never saw it before either

Pfffhahaha, it’s behind the pillar! It’s always been there!

Well, I went back to Wizard for awhile… I’m determined to try enjoying this character once again, because I normally like playing the wizard in an rpg game. (heh, my wizard in Diablo 3 was so gloriously overpowered…)

Sorceress is coming along nicely at level 27… I named her “Lexi” <–inspired by a certain legendary UK internet/website model that had some of the greatest titties I’ve ever seen in life. She also went by the name “Demi Scott” and “Mercedes”… frequent appearances on websites “Only Looking”, “PantyLoving” and “WankItNow” in case anyone is curious. Truly outstanding, that one. Yes, I have quite the extensive collection of her vids…mmmm yes indeed… but that’s a topic for another thread and another day, of course.

Back on topic though-- Rock Press is outstanding so I immediately focused on that, 1 point in Levitate so far, my Skeletons, and the food conjure spell, Blizzard… then there’s Protection… frustrating thing with her is that SO many skills stand out right away as interesting/good stuff to get. Then there’s the usual common stuff like having at least 1 to 2 points in Deep Pockets asap.

leveling up sorceres sucks, she has nothing but good shit. 1 thing you can do, make a choice between ice prison and gravity. ice is probably better as that works on bosses as well, dont know about gravity.

max golem, max bliz, max protection, max thnder, add create food (whats the use of dumping more into this? only to increase usage amount?). i dont use curse, while very good it doesn’t work on bosses (hence im thinking of dropping extinction with wiz as well), rock is great, if you still have te space for it.

It does when you solo run an experimental build that leaves you with no pots, no points in evasion, lava bracers, or grandsmash.

I respecced immediately afterward but I wanted to test run a odd build(as I occasionally due out of boredom) focused on wealth to health, nutritionist, trinket maniac, and the explosives.

Did fuckall damage and was constantly stunned, frozen, or petrified for most of the fight, then the arch demons were a pain in the ass with all of the teleporting. And then due to all the multiple hits at once I had to constantly run around and pick up jewels and coins that drop due to a hammer prefix for health. The explosives were working over the adds until I ran out, and then it was basically just a battle of endurance. I only don’t know why I didn’t just quit right at the start.

was fun though.

Woah, dood, didn’t mean any harm, I do admit I may have worded that a little arrogantly. Apologies.

I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but when I use eagle dive it does abysmal damage and that terrible recovery doesn’t really do much to help. Even with maxed powder mastery it doesn’t seem to hurt anything without a fire weakness, too much.

Anyone willing to offer pointers on my previous questions, would be appreciated.

I spent my afternoon off, leveling up a Wizard, in lieu of any actual progress with my Fighter.

It helps a lot to go from scratch, and do all of the quests or points and gain items, instead of going in raw at 15… I had no Wizard kit saved to twink with, though.

eithe go online or have some cpu controlled level 99 and plus characters help you out. as long as you are not running solo, game is easy as hell.

Ah. That makes more sense. I thought you just did what I did and dropped two glitch hammers in a bag and went out to see if it worked.

On my 23 floor run, I ran into Demon Lord and it took about 20 minutes, but that was because everything but my weapons (not glitch hammers) was broken LOL.

This is my build, I have completed LOC and have 9 seals of conqueror.
Fighter skills

  1. Cyclone masher 5/5
  2. Temptest Edge 10/10
  3. Cover allies 3/3
  4. Reflex Guard 5/5
  5. Reflect missle 10/10
  6. Distraction 3/3
  7. Sacrifice 1/5 *have to use this point to max shield tactics :frowning:
  8. Shield tactics 10/10
    Common
    Evasion 1/3
    Vitality 9/10
    Deep pockets 3/3

The only regret I have is going 3/3 in deep pockets. 2/3 would probably be just as good and would free up some points for nutritionist. 1st step is to get a temptest edge +50% damage sword from LOC, I like fire or poison the best for the fighter, because few bosses are resistant to either, Ice and petrify are ok vs random enemies and elites, but don’t have much use on bosses. I just get a shield that has a nice counter + defense + dmg 15%. Bash was nerfed, however I use bash as a way to escape the red pirate sword enemies. I bash>>cancel to forward dodge then backstab them. Otherwise it is very difficult to escape the lockdown from that enemy. Reflex guard constantly procs cover allies, so you are almost always flashing blue and getting a damage buff. Shield tactics should be 10/10 or not at all, once you get to inferno you can’t block anything unless you have it maxed. Also recently they buffed the durability from shield tactics so shields now last a LONG time. I rarely even get to my 4th bag on my runs. Some people think reflect missile is not worth it. I had it when it was 80%, now it has been buffed 100%, IMO it is completely worth it now. One of the biggest irritations for the fighter is having your sword fly out of your hand because you got hit full screen by and archer while fighting a mob. I got so irritated with it that I put all of those points into it and I noticed I rarely lose my sword now compared to before. Temptest edge will be your bread and butter and you can kill nearly every boss with it. Going 10/10 greatly increases the range and spread of the attack, so you can hit enemies above, behind and beside you. The toughest fight for the fighter is medusa. I try to temptest edge her when she leans to the right side of the screen and occasionally jump in the air and dash side to side to avoid her claws. The key is patience, and not worrying about how long the fight takes.
