I don’t like it. Depending on how that plays out may hurt the game a lot just to appease a small minority. I have no idea why people care about something like Power Levels which has been irrelevant since Planet Namek in the story anytime power levels have been brought up afterwards it was used to sell databooks.

I mean, we don’t even know what the extent of that is even. We already have Cell saga kid Gohan fighting a Golden Frieza that normally fights Super Saiyan God tier characters (Mind me, I didn’t watch Frieza’s movie or Super yet, but I think it went something like that), so the power level thing is really vague.
He’s actually second strongest. Krillin has the top spot.
I don’t see them happening outside maybe some kind of special bosses.

They aren’t talking about the unit of measure for fighting potential, they are talking about the fighting potential itself. Scouters may be irrelevant because power levels can be hidden, but the actual power levels are still there and matter. It’s no longer “What?! Two hundred fifty-nine billion?!” but “Impossible! I’ve never felt a power this strong before!”.
