I know all that. Pretty sure I’ve explained it to you before so I’ll save the trouble of explaining it all again, but suffice it to say that I just wish that these games were designed with better overall pokes for the entire cast. Not better normals into confirms and etc, just better low risk low reward pokes that can be used to control space and limit opponent options. As it is, there aren’t really moves like that. All moves are either hitconfirms/blockstrings or they are neutral bypass moves. Very little in between, very little midrange game.
Vanish and assists mean there was never going to be much of an empty poking game in DBFZ, because you have a chance to confirm and convert off of almost anything if you read your hits well enough.
That’s fine though, because you’ve got 3 full health bars and blue regen to get through, game would bog down to shit if you had to SF2 your way through all that.
I don’t know where the bad normals talk comes from though. Most of the cast has buttons that cover half the screen, either with reach or forward movement. And the top tiers are a bucket of disjointed hit boxes and hyper armor.
Some Broly gameplay.
Broligail.
It’s not that neutral isn’t important or rewarding, it’s more the fact that the neutral’s mostly about forcing your way in, sans a few characters. There’s not much nuance in terms of spacing compared to something like Xrd. Having slow 2Hs as the only real AA for most characters is also a design choice I don’t like all that much, though I definitely prefer it to something like SFV AA jabs since they have air invul and give huge rewards.
The game’s still really fun either way though.
Guess I nailed the timing on that gameplay trailer debut
So from the video we have:
- A gut punch grab that looks like an ender. Might be one of those multi-result grabs based on input after the grab
- A dive kick that goes straight down and surprisingly does not cause hard knockdown, at least on grounded opponents. Likely the same for aerial opponents since another move looks like it does that.
- An advancing launcher grab special (or heaven forbid 2H)
- Giant spammable ki blasts. Come at an angle. Broly did up to 4.
- Appropriately giant limbs
- An air grab a la SSGSS Vegeta where he slams them back to the earth. Unsure if hard knockdown. Very probable
- Exactly 1 super and it’s a LVL 3…and it looks pretty meh, like a slower Death Ball. Fair bit of delay after animation. DEFINITELY not a reversal LVL 3 option.
Hope that wasn’t his level 3 lol
Non-cinematics can be LVL 3s (Freeza, Chiaotzu), but all cinematics are LVL 3s. It’s not looking good
Trunks has a camera change on his level 1
Right, that’s all it is, a camera change, not a cinematic. Nearly all supers have a camera change
Let’s just hope for a 2nd level 3 then lol
Edit: was talking about the camera change to the close up to his face. Kind of unique compared to the other level 1s
I feel like beerus is the one of the few characters in fighting games that gets bigger damage on smaller characters and not big bodies lol.
Also, gotenks is low key top tier. Dude has a attack that you can go full screen and be plus on block
I finally understand how to use a second 2H in the air to get longer combos. Like Ground 2S, Dash, LML, 2S, Air Jump, LLL. The last part was crazy hard for me not so long ago.
So with trunks now I do,Ground 2L,2L,2M,5M, Jump Cancel, LM, Jump Cancel, LM,2S, Dash, LML, 2S, Air Jump, LLL.
That required quite a lot of dexterity for first time around.
Vanish is + on block, goes full screen and everyone has it. Gotenks is just a worse version of an actual top tier. Just like Beerus, Piccolo, Tien, Krillin etc.
Seriously, the more I play this game, the more I find it unfinished. Everything chains into everything. Some terrible hitboxes. Both super dash and vanish need tweaking. Every character does the same thing. The tier list is thus very rigid. There is literally no reason to not pick a variation of Goku Black/A16/Cell/A Gohan/Vegeta.
I mean, why do all the humans have c.Mediums that barely move them, while almost all the Sayians have slides or moves with huge forward momentum. Just look at Vegeta. Even though he’s so short, he has better normal range than a big guy like Tenshinhan. And then I remember the ‘‘power level’’ comment from before the game released and realize the Japs are just that autistic.
Compared to something like Guilty Gear this game feels like an unfinished kusoge. It is pretty fun to play though.
That’s like saying everyone has the same type of pressure as gohans legs because everyone has vanish lol
Gotenks even has the high low game like gohan because of his beam cancel.
Alright. I will be waiting for all those Gotenks’ to start showing up.
I thought you believed in the power of the saiyans
I’m trying to switch to Arcade stick after playing with a PS4 controller, and the transition is better than expected.
Probably from my hours spent on KOF XIV.
Right now; I’m going through all the combo challenges to get myself familiar with the game again.
