Dragon Ball FighterZ: Legendary Saiyans Edition

Rare inside footage of Evil Canadian’s training regimen for recruits preparing for EVO:

Look out for those Saiyan strats, fam.

So are we calling it a Clayton cancel or what?

Repost from Cell thread. Beam assist might be interchangeable (did not test in time.)

6-Bar TOD combo with Vegeta + beam assist (SSJ Goku/Goku Black/etc.):

Will go over the hard parts about the combo.

  1. 5M, j214H “0:04 Requires good precision in jump cancel → instant special”
  2. j214H, Assist (Beam) “0:06 Just mash assist the moment the final SQUEEZE comes in, when the screen shakes. You will have the assist always timed properly here”
  3. jS, j236M, Assist (Vegeta), 236LM "0:11 Arguably the hardest part of the combo. The Vegeta assist has to be called out the moment Cell lifts his arm for the final strike (BEFORE the camera zooms in), and the 236LM super has to cancel the moment anytime during the zoom in appears. The timing of the Vegeta assist is the most crucial and hardest part in this combo, as it can let the follow-up combo drop no matter how accurate you are.)
  4. 214L (3rd-hit) xx 236LM, Sparking Blast "0:18 Carries a big risk if missed as you will waste Sparking Blast… so this is also crucial to land. Landing the Sparking Blast is pretty tight in itself, so it’s difficult especially if you are doing the manual L+M+H+S. Consider button binding Sparking Blast?)

Note: If you are not already aware… HOLD L+M (throw) to get the most damage. Releasing early or even mashing L+M may not provide optimal results. In the video, the SSJ Goku DHC cancel is unnecessary, as Vegeta’s DHC super alone would be perfectly enough to end with a TOD.

My only hope for the dlc is scouter vegeta can turn great ape.

Also

cells down+S

is fucking plus on block, what the fuck.

What’s the point of a held/unheld throw anyway? Less scaling in the resulting combo?

Well this is potentially busted as hell.

Can someone check to make sure this isn’t just training mode weirdness? I’m not at home right now.

Its not something I’d do but here’s how to reroll capsules for anyone that’s interested.

Coolio. I was already getting an idea of what to do from your description but the video helps also. I assume in the situations where you jump in the air and block Vegeta’s assist you’re just mashing the reflect near the point the block stun ends and then just immediately going into whatever?

>:)

Also Android 18 got a big ass f̶o̶r̶e̶h̶e̶a̶d̶ fivehead

ha may as well cuz im all for being a dick and continually rubbing it in everyones that ive been right about like everything.

On another note because apparently people are STILL confused ive heard in discord talking about it. IT DOESNT HAVE to be a fireball. Like im not sure what is so hard to grasp about the video. I tried to show the most basic of examples. The opponent can do any fucking thing they want to you. They can knock you down to a beam. They can knock you down to a normal. The point is, when you tech low to the ground, YOU ARE INVINCIBLE. There for any attack you FALL into. You can mash parry for free to make yourself… INVINCIBLE.

THere is… nothing the opponent can do to stop this in this situation. THEY HAVE to not attack you. You can not punish a successful deflect. Deflect was only toned down in the last beta and this final build in that it is not instantly cancelable.

This isnt rocket science do i need to show the guilty gear videos again ive posted of doing this with neutral techs to go through physical attacks as well? I tried to show a butt fucking easy example.

So the only way the opponent cant bait this, is by not attacking you. But heres the thing, since your falling into the attacks, you know its there. So if you arent attacking… I dont have to parry. Thats the kicker. Theres no reason to assume that once people get good at this game that they will not be able to react to shit being on the screen. I mean whats your argument? Theres to much on the screen you cant tell what im doing? Umm…all the better cuz im invincible so ill hit something by mashing. Did people actually try this easy example that I showed?? The only way you get baited is I hit deflect and you do nothing period. What I fall into doesnt matter. Fireball, beam, normal. Its all the same.

The only “fireball” example I was showing was to show off the canceling your recovery, and the option select double duty if you will of you can press homing dash/a move with fireball invincibility and assist as a reversal to go through stuff with cover should the opponent try to bait the homing dash.

There is also no low that beats parry. Lows do not beat parry. What are people trying to say that in the string I showed the instant someone throws a fireball if I need to be worried they might hit a low… Dude… if you pressed the ki button, the only thing ki button chains into, are regular attacks… why do i have to be holding low after that? Are you chaining into attacks that dont exisit? That I need to be worried about? Yes you can bait a parry there is no doubt sure. But are people trying to make up moves that dont exisit? lol Like can I suddently chain from low to fireball to low rinse and repeat? And even if I could again parrys beat lows… Whatever…

Anyway someone go post this in the discord so i dont have to go on and get angry. -_- I dont understand why there is such a lack of common sense in the video game community.

Dragon-Rush not even being able to beat a low tech-parry is disgusting.

Here im gonna make one last video… just to show you guys… You guys you dont even have to be near the ground, thats the whole point i tried to give you a easy example. here ill show me being air comboed IN THE air… Then i will fall down with a down tech into attacks and i cant be hit. Gimme a min. Then im going to bed after this.

calling 18 assist in someones face all but guaranteeing a dragon rush is disgusting.

last example…there see im not falling into any fireballs, im falling into a normal and a beam. it works on everything. And its not just a low to the ground tech, you can press down to do the DOWN tech to the ground period and it still works

if 18 assist makes low tech-parry punishable, she’d be a mandatory include for anyone wanting to run a traditional oki plan in this game lol.

Interresting concept Clayton.

I’m labbing it to really get the grasp of it.

Anyway Tien for exemple has a special low so you can cancel a Kikoha with 236L. You can parry low though. Maybe what people were trying to say is that if you mash Parry while in block string, you’re vulnerable to low.

Ok so I think I got what you mean. My understanding is that you have to mash to get that effect. If you do one single parry you’re not invincible. This means opponent can wait for you to mash and punish accordingly. Pretty usefull thanks.

What happens is that the defender forces a situation that completely destroys the oki game. Either they (the attacker) gets parried and neutral is essentially reset, or they have to pause and try to catch the parry whiff, meaning they give up their 50/50 setplay anyway. One would think something like DR would be able to grab them on wakeup, but Clayton says that does not work either. Add in mechanics like crossup protection, and the defender does not actually have to deal with a lot of shit in week 1 vanilla DBZF he is currently dealing with. I say that, because there’s no way Arc is going to leave parry alone in its current state.

There is, however, no blocking allowed at the first 4f of jumping, so the defender cannot chicken block. And then with the fireball b.strings and etc., it just means all those cool lockdown strings just get pushed back.

@Bronn I don’t know what to think about it. It totally destroy Oki Pressure using Assist for sure. But the Good ol’ Oki seems still relevant. I don’t like the idea though. That’s kinda Game Breaking as it is IMO.
