If that interview about powerlevel stuff where they denied Tao Pai Pai(biggest mistake this game did for now) didn’t exist, I would actually be hype to have a younger Chi Chi as the Kung-Fu girl.
With Caulifla they can be creative and work with Toriyama, Toyotaro and TOEI to do her “signature” moves like the Blue boys looks to have pretty recent stuff and the game will be out probably after the end of the Super anime. Still think Kale is too similar to Broly, so they’ll have to surprise me. Videl is popular and maybe can work with a Sayaman assists/supers? Another popular one is Pan that can fill the “little girl” quota too even if GT is always seen as a can of worms for the “normal” fanbase. Other than that, you have wild cards like Arale (please Bandai!) that already appeared in previous games and recently in Super and Towa from the Online and Xenoverse games (and is a female villain for those who like that stuff).

tl;dr: Caulifla, Kale(?), Videl, Pan, Arale and Towa could work in the game. With #18 would be 5~7 females if Bandai Namco is generous.

-#18 for the go-to female fighter and the Ryu to #17’s Ken (probably not)
-Chi-Chi for Chun-Li with the Bansho Fan and Power Slugger
-Videl for the melee-focused character with sways, step-ins, and one ki-based move for close-quarter pressure (likely a super)
-Towa for the gimmick magic-based fighter
-Caulifla for DLC

IMO that’s the best way for female rep.

About the Krillin vs Tien thing, everytime this comes up I say: “Whold you rather get hit by multiples Kikohos (Tri-Beams) or multiple Kienzans(Destructo disks)?” Never forget that Kienzan is a move that could have killed Nappa or even Frieza if it hit. Nappa and Frieza that are way over Krillin in power.

Well i doubt Kienzan could have killed frieza but it did cut his tail off. So yeah, it can be a deadly weapon. Still, Tenshinhan’s Kikoho was powerful enough to prevent cell from pursuing 18. He even managed to deflect Buutenks attack with it. Things like that make me wonder how krillin can be considered the strongest human. Oh well, if Toriyama said so, there’s no point in arguing.

I want Hit more than any other character right now. With the Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-Ken Goku stuff being a thing, it’s only right that Hit is included.

Blue being in the game is one thing everybody expected, even whatever his new transformation thing is going to be has a shout,
It’s making it a separate character to save money on a actual character that’s the issue. Sure they are different, I said when it was announced I need to see gameplay to be convinced it’s a better idea than a install.I just don’t think blue as a character needs to exist, it’s not even like the gohan thing

The roster is like one of the basic question they answer very early in dev, first showing was at E3, I don’t even know if the tournament of power had started yet. For sure 17 didn’t had his spotlight.

Do you think they are like “- Hey guys did you see the episode last night? - Yeah we should had that dude!!” ? They have a planning from the very start. They decide the roster/the modes/the mechanics very early. They are a company not a bunch of hippies they plan their shit.
If something turns out to be extremely popular they might deviate from their plan but that’s it, maybe they even planned extra time for it just in case. Like if they did their roster before Black, I think they would still make the effort to add him.

Just cause he didn’t work on super doesn’t mean he isn’t 100% correct. Things like rosters aren’t something you can flim flam around late in the dev process that shit gets decided early on because the characters are the bulk of the work of the game.

Hell an easy example to see that is every years wrestling game. Many times the game will come out with wrestlers who were fired months ago, or have vastly different gimmicks. However once you reach a certain point you just gotta lock the roster down and save the rest for DLC.

With the amount of time it takes for them to create characters in that Xrd engine I wouldn’t be surprised if the roster was done a long time ago. I remember watching the Art Director mention it took 3 months for a single character to be created.
