@dizzynecro I already know why they don’t do alt costumes. I’ve read the article behind it on Xrd.

It’s about resources and time management. @Hecatom probably can link the article that explains the issues behind creating new costumes.

I find pretty hard to believe Kale will be in the game considering Broly is really popular and she’s just a reskin that TOEI liked to reuse some storyboards like they’re reusing a lot of animations in these arcs. She at most would be part of Caulifla moveset like 17 or in a cinematic super.

Still, I can expect an Ultimate/Mystic Gohan considering the teen one weirdly doesn’t have Masenko in his arsenal.

But they are new characters. I would expect them to at least took the effort to not pull a Lambda/Nu situation with the DBZ posterboys. It would still be cheaper than do a new model from the ground. And I still think Black is inevitable.

And still, one is being a team player knocking people out of the arena and the other one is already sitting on the bench.

Isn’t this a bad thing regardless

Looks bleek for future characters

The pool of viable possible female characters is very shallow. Toei definitely wants to promote Super with this game. You gotta have waifus. All of that makes Kale more likely than Broly for the starting roster.

Broly is a better idea for a DLC character, or just DLC alt costume with different voice for Kale since they have the same moves.

Yeah and Tien is an alt for Piccolo, they are both bald.

I’ll actually be really surprised if broly doesn’t get in.

Me too, I really like Broly too, whereas Kale is just so meh.

Kale is Broly when she loses control. Broly is just a bad motherfucker.

Only thing bad about Broly is his character, he’s a giant fucking cry baby bitch. I really dont understand why anyone likes him. Kale has more personality then Broly does.

You mean this one?

[quote=“quicks, post:3483, topic:182868”]

You are understanding this wrong.
The thing is that due the way they animate their characters, adding alternate costumes requires/ed almost the same amount of work as doing a new character.
Their focus with GGXrd at the beginning was (and still is) to add both new and returning characters. Which is why adding alternate costumes wasn’t a priority.
Although DBFZ is a different project with very different circumstances, people can only speculate based on what we know.

Side note, imo, it seems that maybe they are starting to work on adding alternate costumes seeing that Both Dizzy and Ky got their XX looks for Dizzy’s arcade story.

The case with the Blues could be anything, but it was obvious that they will be in from the very beginning, plus since one of their focus is to keep everything simple while unique, it was obvious that those transformations would be their own characters, they aren’t taking anyones slot.
People here are acting like if because they are Goku and Vegeta they can’t function (lol) completly different.
Just look at Robo Ky and Order Sol on GGXX for example.

Broly is insanely popular, there is even a huge special ride/show on universal japan dedicated to him, i am sure he is in.
Kale being in, doesn’t disqualify him to be inthe game aswell.

So how many females do people think will make it?

DB as a series hasn’t had many iconic female fighters. Biggest one is definitely Chi Chi, who was basically retired before the start of Z. Kale and Caulifla don’t appear to be interesting designs, but strength-wise it looks they can hang with the current roster. There’s also Videl. I’d be cool with like 2 or 3 tbh, but of course there are the FG players that will play like solely females, and I know ArcSys would want to cater to them.

3 at best

If they go up to the ToP arc from super i would be willing to think that 3 more besides 18.
Unless Brianne becomes insanley popular, or becames relevant to the story.

A guy from r/DBZF has an interview with Tomoko Hiroki at Gamescom next week. You can post questions in regards to the game and he’ll ask those during the interiew with the producer

Post the questions there ^

Some of y’all remind me why the DBZ fanbase is up there with the Narutards in terms of stupid…

An alternate version of Goku doesn’t “take a slot” from a new character… Time and available staff determines roster size, unless you’re Capcpom, and you let Marvel punk the shit out of you while simultaneously not giving a shit about your own characters or level of effort.

Also,

https://youtu.be/BBw29t7mx94

BROLY WAS A MOTHERFUCKER… STRONGER THAN THAT ROBOT TRUCKER!

If that interview about powerlevel stuff where they denied Tao Pai Pai(biggest mistake this game did for now) didn’t exist, I would actually be hype to have a younger Chi Chi as the Kung-Fu girl.
With Caulifla they can be creative and work with Toriyama, Toyotaro and TOEI to do her “signature” moves like the Blue boys looks to have pretty recent stuff and the game will be out probably after the end of the Super anime. Still think Kale is too similar to Broly, so they’ll have to surprise me. Videl is popular and maybe can work with a Sayaman assists/supers? Another popular one is Pan that can fill the “little girl” quota too even if GT is always seen as a can of worms for the “normal” fanbase. Other than that, you have wild cards like Arale (please Bandai!) that already appeared in previous games and recently in Super and Towa from the Online and Xenoverse games (and is a female villain for those who like that stuff).

tl;dr: Caulifla, Kale(?), Videl, Pan, Arale and Towa could work in the game. With #18 would be 5~7 females if Bandai Namco is generous.

Spoiler

Or fuck it, Make Launch with machineguns works like Deathstroke

I think we can be safe to assume that Bandai Namco has full control to who will be in this game. They want to promote Super and nostalgia fans alike.

So let me get this straight,

And let’s be real nobody here knows budgets for this game

It’s ok to reveal palette swaps when less than 12 characters have been revealed, because the company needs to save effort,

If you’re going to do a palette swap drop it at the end

Don’t make excuses please

Really want to see the gameplay though is it being shown this week?

There is a build with Krillin, Piccolo and Trunks at Gamescon and a tournament. They are supposed to show a gameplay trailer after it.

Like i said, the blues were obvious to be in on DBFZ, and everything points out that they are than just “color swaps”.
Only idiots are complaining about them.

Edit

The only real complain that anyone should have is why they don’t have their cooler RoF outfits.
