Wanted to know is can I still use the switch that selects dpad or analogs if I padhack the PCB and is it as easy as removing the switch and soldering longer wires to it or another type switch so I can place it somewhere else?
Well the desoldering of the original DP-LS-RS switch can be tricky, I can’t see how replacing that switch with a switch of the same type would not work. I believe that switch is a DPDT switch.
It would need to be TPTT or DPTT. It has 3 settings, so it’s a “triple throw” switch. Whether it’s DP or TP I don’t know, that would depend on how the board is configured(using 0,1,2/1,0,2 or 1,2,3)
Opps my mistake, a 3 or 4 position switch (TPTT or DPTT) not a DTDP. Slip on my part since I get DPTP switches too often for my own mods LOL. On Mad Catz boards it appears very straight forwards for wiring a new switch.
Not necessarily. A switch with an ON-OFF-ON configuration has three positions, but every such switch I’ve ever seen has still been labeled as dual throw since it only has two active positions.
I am pretty certain my FightStick PCBs used a SPDT switch, where the “left stick” setting grounds a certain pin on the processor, “right stick” setting grounds a different pin and “D-pad” setting grounds neither. Most likely the FightPads works the same and should be easily tested with a multimeter, if I’d been at home I would’ve tested myself before writing this post. If so you don’t need to desolder the original switch, just solder wires to the backside of the PCB and set the switch to neutral.
Yeah, you just described a double pole triple throw slider, a DPTT switch.
So if I leave the switch in neutral(which is the middle right?) and wire the back side of the PCB what kind of switch would I need? A DPDT switch?
SPTT. Single pole. Dont need two poles, but you can use a dual pole if that’s what you have on hand.
I cant find a dptt or a sptt switch even if I google it all I get a dpdt or spdt switches. The switches have On-Off-On but all say DT. And would I be able to use a momentary switch? I would think no right
I sent you a pm, bro!
Ok I know Im reviving an old thread but I have taken apart the switch on the dpad because desoldering it seemed impossible.(I Tried) So what I get is a little square that looks like this

With two metal pieces on the switch that look like this

The piece was to small for my cam to photo so I drew what it looked liked. Now there were two of these side to side, and it seemed like the switch always had part of the metal piece touching the second box of the little square. I am now completely lost and can use some guidance here. I really am only worried about soldering wires to a new switch that will allow it to swap from D-pad to Left stick, as right stick is pretty useless for most stuff. So where do I go from here? Please help
