Different countries have different ages of consent. 16-18 is a very contentious age.
Those societies are also structured and poised to support adults of that age. Ours is not.

However, I saw 16 year old girls dating 20+ males all the time while they were in highschool (they’d even brag about it. I suppose they are no dfferent than males in that respect), but never their teachers (although there were plenty of rumors).

It wouldn’t matter. The only reason this is even relevant is because there’s a teacher involved. If said 24 year old male was a teacher and was with said 17 year old female, it would cause a huge ruckus. No parent wants to think their kid is getting that kind of attention in school.

I also have to vouch for the people who talked about Catholic school being full of sluts of both–fine, Ash Crimson, all–genders since I went to Catholic school from kindergarten through high school. Even when trying to stay the hell away from everyone in high school, I knew way too much about who was sleeping with who and other people’s masturbatory habits. Damn overly talkative teenagers–it’s only gotten worse.
For the record, I’m generally “fine” if the consenting “victim” in question is 17 or maybe 16 since 18 is a bit of arbitrary age anyway since you don’t magically level-up into an adult, who aren’t necessarily mature anyway, upon hitting your 18th birthday. It’s why I’ve always found statutory rape kinda dumb, especially since it’s most just draconian measures against males, especially if they’re minorities.
That said, this is still dirty as fuck for the violation of trust among other things that it is. It can’t really be that difficult to not fuck your charges. Then again I suppose I’m expecting too much of humanity, especially when these women are among the segment of it whom generally don’t punished for anything in America (read: the West) except maybe if they’re ugly.
Hell, different states within the “United” States have (very) different ages of consent, though if anything, I’d just say that lends more credence to my opinion that a lot of the states in the Union, even if they were retained by the Civil War, might as well be different countries.
Off the top of my head, and I know I’ve mentioned this before numerous times given how many “teacher makes a boner by fucking student!” threads we’ve had, Delaware’s age of consent is the youngest at like 14 or something.
