DotA 2

shut up and play nerds

fuck you i aint no nerd 1v1 me at rosh

haha a trole post xD

3-1 today with honzo

4-1 how come I ain’t getting any friend requests

Not really a troll post but just a parody of the mentality of many bad players. :stuck_out_tongue:

4-2

What’s a good beginner video database?

In League you can press S to stop all attacking and movement until your next one. What’s the DOTA2 equivalent? I’m sick of constantly clicking and walking into bullshit when I just want to learn how to last hit in this game and don’t need to avoid harassment.

I still don’t understand how the fuck I am supposed to play against any lane that has KotL

Literally the exact same thing. Also, stop commands will cancel attack and spell animations in this game (at certain points), so i’d learn how to do that. Good for faking out things like pudge hook or earthshaker wall, stuff like that

Hold position (H key) is good to know too

just download dota 2 and start playing then read some guides I dunno. I’ve been playing the game for 7 or 8 years I legitimately don’t even know how new players do it at this point.

also:

4-3with honzo aka the softest nigga on the block aka the 0-12 centaur aka my little prince

this valve matchmaking system is fucking brutal. it drags you kicking and screaming towards 50% wins

I was support centaur, I run in stun, die and the team is supposded to clean up. Never worked out though.

@paparhino

Check out the youtubes of dotacinema for video guides of each heroes skills as well as some guides.

Purgegamers does first person games with each hero and talks about what you should be doing and what that heroes role is.

Joindota is the place to go for tournament games, constantly updates with new games with the highest level of dota gameplay with good commentary.

LOL honzo

don’t watch guides imo

In order to better grasp the game watch pro matches and pro players play. When you want to learn street fighter a guide can only get you so far, you need to see how a pro plays eventually. Same with dota, you’ll see a bunch of idiosyncrasies that you can adopt and make your game better. Plus most people making guides aren’t the best.

edit: don’t learn from eg bc they are terrible

Dotacinema’s guides are pretty short and simple, more suggestions on what to try to do when you play as them rather than ‘this is what you need to do’.

Join Dota is one of the best because it is constant pro team matches.

Purge is good because he explains what you should be trying to do as a player for each hero he does a first person play of, he also talks about what different skill builds or item builds you can get in different scenarios.

For someone completely new dotacinema is good to just check out a hero and see what their skills do, they haven’t really put out any guides for a while now.

i completely agree with this entire post.

also LoL instills some pretty awful habits into players. The worst is “maining.” Before LoL I knew of like two players that played only 4-5 heroes and they were pretty awful. I don’t consider anyone who can’t proficiently play at least 80% of the dota cast to be a good player.

I tried playing league but it just left a lukewarm taste in my mouth. It’s basically Dota with a super low skill ceiling and you constantly have less shit to do and fewer ways to go about getting that shit done. It just did not feel satisfying whatsoever and it felt like decision-making wasn’t nearly as important as it was in Dota and playing support in league is like injecting bleach straight into your prefrontal cortex with a rusty syringe.

In dota you can play a support lion, get no farm whatsoever, hit 6, solo smoke to another lane, and make the enemy carry fucking explode and then hit level 7 and get your boots. In league it’s like you’re fighting each other with raw sausages and water guns. everything is just so weak in league whereas most heroes in Dota are quite strong if played correctly. that’s the biggest adjustment you are going to have to make.

Also joindota’s commentator (tobi) is pretty assy and euro dota is a notch beneath chinaman dota. I recommend watching the g-league vids from beyondthesummity (english commentary). here is the link:

this is the highest caliber of Dota available since the international top 8 matches. You should watch LGD.int. They are a group of americans and europeans currently living in China to play dota and they are basically the second best team over there right now (IG is #1). I remember beating the shit out of Brax at mid in HoN (a dota rip off), flaming him, and then having him queue up against me twice a week later and outright destroying me. That guy got good so fast and he’s so young (18 I think). Anyway I recommend watching some videos from that playlist. Western dota is supposed to be more fun but honestly it’s just lower-skilled and few people expect any american or european teams besides LGD.int to make it to top 8 at the next international.

The best part about this line is that we can’t tell if you’re talking about EG’s SF players or DotA 2 players!

Also Euro DotA is worse than China DotA, but China DotA is so fucking boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring. Euro DotA still pretty good though.
