AE! been practicing yun combos this afternoon. Def gotta step up my marvel game as well… i’ll be up to par real soon
I have yet to land an ultra mid combo with yun but I have been winning with my dive kick shenanigans as well his poke game.
Sooo many scrubs playing the twins and Evil Ryu + Oni. All I have to say about the Twins is that if you’re going to use Dive Kick a lot, make sure you land it really meaty. The hit box for them is inside the body and it trades with basically everything. Oh, and if you’re gonna play a Gief, land dive kick meaty. as. fuck. Else it’s free any command grab or super.
Lenin, do you think you’re gonna be able to play this SF4 Yun comparatively to your 3S Yun?
Most of my basic poke game in ae is like in 3s with the exclusion of his toward fierce because the reach was nerfed. Dive kicks have tons of start up as well as the shitty hitbox like you mentioned, so I can’t go as hog wild with them, though they have retained most of their usefulness. Dive kicking over fireball spams isn’t as useful either because most fireballers can just walk up to you after hopping over one. Geneii Jin combos are still weird, I managed to do cl. mk (trade) gj mp, f+mk, f+mk, dash punch, mp, cl. mk and then I dropped the combo. The way they bounce off of the hits is still new to me. Outside of the Bison match up, I haven’t been having too hard a time unless the player was obviously way more experienced than me. With enough practice, I think I could muster up a decent enough gameplan to take me through the first few rounds of a major tournament but I’m not so sure about winning anything just yet. There’s just too much match up specific info to memorize before I can actually start taking my game to new levels. It’s like if I were trying to join a PvP tournament for Warcraft with a lvl30 rogue and the tournament was full of lvl70s. There’s no saying those 70s are really any good, but they learned so much about the game, just the game not necessarily proper use of their tools, that one little set up of theirs could kill me without my even knowing what was going on. I know that example is a stretch but the idea I was trying to relay was that at this point it’s more about time to put in memorizing the different situations rather than just being able to play these games at a decent level.
How about you Jeremy? Picking up any of the new characters? Maybe any buffs/nerfs to your mains that just aided/ruined your game?
I understood the Wacraft comparison completely. I’ve mostly just been tooling around with Cody, trying to find the right space to where I can do Forward+HK since it has an extra juggle property on it now. What I’ve been messing with is Fwd+HK, Fwd+MP reset and try some attack string or throw shenanigans. RIght now it’s pretty 50/50 against online people, but, really gets a good start when I mix that in and then all of a sudden do nothing and catch their whiff with a Fwd+HK into EX Criminal Upper.
Faster Low LK is pretty nice, but I think it’s still a bad trade against Bison if I get locked into a Scissor Kick loop. Before it was take them all in blocks and get chipped to hell, now it’s just trade and reset the situation. Better, but, I’m still in the same situation as you are. Just have to get into the game enough to learn the match ups and shenanigans everyone can do, and how to counter.
I know how you feel in regards to the bison match up. When I was first learning it as Ryu I couldn’t get passed the cr.lk xx scissor loops and would get bodied but eventually found out that you can hit his feet/toes during his scissor kicks with Ryu’s standing lk (or pre-emptive standing mk) and that would set up for a good no charge situation since he would air reset. He can always teleport away but that’s where I want him as Ryu.
How does Cody’s standing roundhouse compare to Bison’s? I can see that it’s not as fast but couldn’t you do it at the same time as him with a twitch and, since yours starts up slower, catch his leg in it’s retreat? I can’t imagine any other bison pokes that would give Cody too much of a hard time. Don, why you skip this week? AE actually has me excited to play sf4 -_-
Bison RH is the shiznat, 6 frame start up with -1 on block.
I was talking about whiff up there, btw. Fuck Bison’s RH, btw.
Not 100% sure, but Cody’s standing roundhouse, to me, is comparable to Alex’s standing Roundhouse. There’s a god damned WIND UP animation before he just launches it. If I get some time to play it tonight, I’ll try to remember it against a Bison. I know I can stick out Cody’s Roundhouse against T. Hawk and it just shits on him.
Surprised to say, but I’m with Lenin. Actually excited about this game!
I wouldnt mind playing AE with you guys :3

I dont have it yet, don’t even know if am gonna get it but I’m down to play you at Don’s next week
I’ll play at Don’s against some of you, I hate online play and I only have a PS3. I’m using online to get familiar and buckle down on some basic shit. Like STOP FUCKING JUMPING WHEN RUSHED CAUSE JUMPS ARE SO GOD DAMNED SLOW TO COME OUT THIS IS NOT THE GODLIKE GAME OF 3S.
Lenin:
Do you double tap the buttons a lot? Does that work well? Does Daigo double tap?
I still double tap, it doesn’t seem to help but it’s a good habit, imo, and I intend to keep it. It doesn’t seem to make my game worse. I only do small combos anyway, I’d rather land cr.mp, st. mp xx lui kang wallewallewallewalle then cr. lk, cr. lp, st. lp, st. mp xx lui kang walle walle walle. For one, it’s easier and two it’s not much more damage on the jab filled version, if it can even be said that it does more damage.
I don’t know if Daigo double taps, to be honest, I haven’t been watching those videos. I imagine Daigo has his routine planned out already, slightly changing it only when he feels challenged. I’ve been reading more than watching videos this time around because I don’t think there’s anyone out there that could play Yun and use a concept that isn’t some extended version of 3s Yun shenanigans. Daigo is mad patient and I’m not. That’s enough for me to decide that I can’t learn AE Yun from watching him.
Hey Don,
Is Alex Valle still your hero?
Yes:)
I got to see him at WNF this week. I was watching Marvel 3 and he and Neo came over and started muttering things in my direction. I wanted to shake his hand and get you an autograph but he said something about not even being in the same caste or something and I just said “What’s up, dudes?” and turned around.
It’s alright Dander, you’re also my hero.
Do you consider Dander and Lenin two different people? Because I’m not two different people.
lenin:cool fan club
if i play AE dudley will you play AE yun?
