On a Street Fighter note:
Unlike MVC3, You think Capcom doesn’t like download characters for the Street Fighter franchise? Is that why they’re putting Arcade Edition on a disc instead of a dlc? Is the SF series too sacred for Capcom to have significant dlc’s?
I actually think putting AE on a whole new disc is a good move by Capcom (If AE is a disc when it comes out in June which it looks most likely is). I think Street Fighter is too much of a sacred cow for Capcom to put on any significant downloads such as characters.
You could tell that Capcom doesn’t really hold the same view with MVC3 since it gets a significant download like one month after the game is release. Talk about being sloppy when it comes to making the game.
But I do hope that MVC3 comes out as an actual arcade game. Btw does anyone know if they play or care about MVC3 in Japan right now?

AE is going to be released as DLC on June 7. Hard copy is out on June 28.
Not many people bought Super as much as vanilla and a lot of games do something similar (DLC included in GOTY editions), so I can see why they want to do a retail version of it.

Hey Don, don’t forget to run your MVC3’s today before people show up. Word is a patch just came out. 
And to chip in on the SSF4 release vs AE console, I’d much rather have them do it as DLC rather than more hard disks, mostly because of the PS3 / 360 Trophy system. I’m a trophy whore, but, I go about gathering those things in moderation, not all at once. Just kind of annoying to do them in Vanilla, then a portion of them again in Super. Besides, if it’s just character tweaks and a few more characters, patch it away, and that’s the MMO-Player in me talking because that seems easier to me than mass producing and shipping hard copies out.
Ah man. I rather buy the actual disk than the dlc but they’re not coming out on the same day. Decisions. Decisions.

So supposedly there is a $2 MVC3 tournament tonight but like I said it’s up to the MVC3 players who want to run it. Start it after 11pm so that people who don’t want to play can come early and get their casuals in.

The patch is real, it’s already being documented what’s been changed, but, nothing official from Capcom. One change hurts Captain hard as his shield slash loop has been really neutered, can barely get two shield slashes in at most, and the other is a glitch with Zero and his snap back during his Gen’ei Jin.
Taking all that I’ve read, I’ll head the tourney if everyone is good with that. Assuming that I do:
- As requested by Don, Tourney will start @ 11p tonight. This is an MvC3
- I’ll make the call on tourney format (Round Robin, Double/Single Elim) based on how many participate, and if we can switch out a SSF4 setup for MvC3 during the tourney. Don’s call on this one.
- Entry Fee will be $2. (Please make sure you have exact money. I suck at having a lot of $1 bills and giving change)
- Winner take all (or Winner take most and 2nd gets their money back + $1)
General Rules:
- Wins will be FT2 (first to 2) wins (a.k.a., best of 3).
- Only exception will be Losers/Winners Finals (dependent on tourney format), and Grand Finals as FT3.
- Loser of a match gets to switch teams/assists. Winner must remain with their team/assist setup.
- Winner CAN switch up team setup in the VS/Results screen (via holding a partner button down at the vs screen, or selecting rematch while holding a partner button down).
As a last note, the point of this tourney is training/preparation for the bigger tournaments out there. I’m hoping that this will be beneficial when you go out and deal with the higher pressure situations like WNF weeklys and the crazier ones like EVO and ReveLAtions.

Someone bring one copy of MVC3 just in case and leave it in the car lol. But keep in mind that I only have two setups that have all the dlc characters and patches.
But most likely you’ll have to deal with two setups for MVC3 but bring a copy just in case. I want to keep two SSF4 setups so that the people who do come in for SSF4 only are able to get their games in. It’s not fair for the SSF4 players to have only one set up. There are still a good number of people who come here that don’t play MVC3.
I’ll bring my PS3 copy for sure to cover that third possible set up.
