I think 2 of those guys actually worked on the original SF3. According to what a few of the members who are into that scene have said, it’s basically 3s with KOF sprites, which sounds totally awesome. The controls feel tight, links and cancels feel very natural, and the special and normal move inputs are very similar to the SF system with a few exceptions. I’m pretty excited for it, and I’m tempted to get it for the PC just to try it out.
It helps that there’s basically 2 shotos in the game. And I love me some shotos.
I already saw a few characters that caught my eye in general appearance interest. I think when it comes out, I’m gonna be at risk for getting kicked out of class for playing it. And yeah, it’s a mix of 3S and KOF people in a three man team making it. Can’t go wrong!

We might have a brand new 3S player tomorrow. He plays on GGPO. If he joins us tomorrow make him feel welcomed so we can add to our “3S army”. Lol. Hopefully it will be fun.

Mr. Karafail, I must say, you and I did pretty well tonight. We cleaned up at that tournament. You managed to get your one round off on pyrolee before he downloaded you with that fiber optics connection, but that’s neither here or there. Highlight for me was beating Aku. It wasn’t so much the victory, but the nostalgia that got to me. No lie, Don, I have to thank you for the months of you playing your scumbag Q because without you, I wouldn’t have succeeded. The whole time I was playing him I just kept saying to myself “Don would have been a lot more reckless; Don would have taunted after his knock downs; Don would have slapped the buttons Mexican style on wake up and laughed in my face afterward”. It just wasn’t the same. That emotion, you know? That douchebaggery – I came in with expectations, and even though I won, I…there was very little salt to consume; my ego needed more and it did not receive.
Oh, and Grant made it to Grand Finals while I made it to Semis. If weren’t for those STUPID American sticks, I would have easily gotten into Finals. >:(
I’ll try asking Max the next time Grant or I go. Really~~~ bothers me that I nearly lost to a scrubby Ibuki player way below my level in my first set behind that…and nerves.
I’m tempted to start traveling out to FFA, Japan, and other arcades from here on out. After that tournament was over, Grant and I both agreed that we needed more situation experience. Didn’t really matter if we bodied everyone else relatively sound. pyrolee downloaded Grant so fast, and neither of us really understood how upon review. I want to get to that level and make sense of the details; I’m tired of playing this game without answers to questions.
Remember knowledge comes into little drops and you have to gather them into your bucket and it takes a while for it to be filled. Patience my good sir patience. And we live in LA and not Japan where knowledge for 3S stacks up much faster in a short time.
I don’t lol. Jason, the guy who’s always fixing my games, finds me the leads lol. But so far we’re the only 3S garage that I know of. But all these so far are invite only lol.
So far I’m only the garage arcade in So Cal with this many Capcom fighting games. People tell me that a lot of garage arcades in So Cal exist but it’s mainly only 80’s arcade games. These are obvious collecters from the “King of Kong” generation. Love that movie.
Thank you everyone for showing up last night. We had only seven players but a lot of ST and 3S action. We had a new 3S player and two old friends returning. Thank you Max, Dan, Jason, Brian, John, Nate, and Papercut. Thank you everyone for showing up and battling.
Since we’re a majority 3S spot, I rearranged things so that it caters more to the 3S base here. I moved the American cabinet with the best joysticks and put 3S in there. So now all 3 3S setups are now in a row.
Also as a way to spice things up, I put Mark of the Wolves in and took out Hyper Fighting. Its not ready yet. The problem with putting Neo Geo games in a cabinet that’s not Neo Geo is that it needs a D button. So we’re working on how to make the D button work hopefully by Friday. Currently it only has 3 buttons. I’ll let you know. So FYI: If you have a cabinet that’s rigged to a SF game, you need to convert it to play Neo Geo games. Also if you want to play a Neo Geo game in a SF or non Neo Geo cabinet, you need to either buy an adapter if it’s more than one slot or just get a one slot. A one slot is jamma. If you don’t know what I’m talking about just ignore lol.
Looking forward to this coming Friday: Palm Springs might be dropping by again to join us which means there will be more 3S players for Friday that is if everyone comes over this Friday.
So that’s what’s on the menu for this Friday. Better 3S setup and Mark of the Wolves. I hear a lot of hype about Mark of the Wolves. I only saw it played seriously that one time in the underground garage and I didn’t know what was going on. I hear from some fg historians that it is one of the best fg ever made. Too bad it never developed a hardcore following in the way 3S did here. So I’ll leave it in here for now and we shall see what happens:)
