This, game dependent, obviously. But yeah, this.
In Alpha 2, before I could SRK, I would do this to get a s.mp xx dp with Ryu
F+MP, U/F, U, U/B, B, D/B, D, D/F+MP
And back then, I was so scrubby, I’d just mash MP throughout the whole sequence, and it would always come out.
Keep in mind, I wasn’t very good at Street Fighter when I was 12.
Also, here’s another thing to consider…
When I was first learning stick and how to properly execute a DP, I found it much easier to do from the P2 side.
Try that.
EDIT:
Here’s one more piece of advice / motivation before I drop off this thread…
If you watch the inputs on high level matches, even top players don’t nail SRK motions every time 100%.
In fact, I would bet that every match, somebody does a non-perfectly executed DP - if there’s DP characters in the match… I wouldn’t assume there’d be any perfect or non-perfect DPs in a Guile mirror…
Ooh, good suggestion, but I’m much better attacking towards the right. Are you right- or left-handed? That probably makes a difference with that, yeah? I’m right-handed in terms if writing and holding utensils and stuff, but I think I’m instinctively lefty, if that makes any sense.
It’s more that from the P2 side, you only have to move your wrist. From the P1 side, you have to move your elbow and wrist. Less movement = easier to execute.
I’m right-handed for writing, eating, and throwing. Left for everything else. Even on piano, I have better control over my left than right.
That said… I wonder if I should have ever invested in a hitbox…
