The infinites like Ravens were very Dull, but the Rax one and the couple that Jetta had (Resonate, HK - HP - HK…) were unique.
You know what, I loved using Midknight, that Bedazzle was one of (if not) the fastest projectiles in the game, and if you hit your opponent with it you could do a s.HK (2 hits), s.HP (2 hits), cb-f MK+HK, and after the 4th hit cb-f MK+HK, and finish with that Wall push move. Or you could be cheap and do a s.HP, step forward, s.HP (repeat until dead).
Larcen, you gotta love his Vendetta, and one of my all-time fav vendetta’s, Dawson’s (laughed until I was I crying, and then some:rofl: ).

I played this game for sega cd a few times. It was fun, but I never thought it was anything special. Do you mean virtua fighter 2 or VF:kids? Because I’m pretty sure Virtua fighter was a launch title. If it was VF2, I’m sorry I’d rather have that than Eternal Champions, It was a great game.
It most likely was 2, since I remember playing 2 on the Saturn.
I’m not saying the rest of the VFs weren’t good, just that Evo was the only GREAT one. That title will soon be shared (or taken) by VF5.
And what could EC really do to VF that VF’s presentation hasn’t already self-inflicted? The American fanbase for it isn’t that big now and it probably wasn’t that big then. I doubt the sales of the final EC would have had any impact on VF.
DITTO! That was a strange (Stupid) call for SoJ to have made. And in order to really understand a game you have to fully break it down (which you can not do in any short period of time with EC-CD) not just play it a few times and say its bad.
If you remember when 3S came out it, Alpha3 was still more popular (at the time), then people played 3S more (pretty much broke it down) and now players are playing that game more?..
I’m still having trouble believing the thread creator thinks that either of the two EC’s were better then any VF…
Ugh. Some of those kills are more gruesome than I remeber. I actually had to stop watching the video. Dammit.
CftDS had quite a few a features in which not many other fighters had at the time. VF is VF and EC is EC, there 2 different types of games (one being 2d the other 3D). And what limited EC to getting the attention that VF got was it was only on the Genesis and SCD, where VF was released on a few different platforms (which helps out quite a bit, look at SF2).
As for the Vendetta’s and Cinekills being too gruesome. There not as bad as some anime movies? But “to each their own.”
I can’t believe some of you are still arguing over this over-a-decade old debate. These kinds of topics just piss people off because they lead people to believe that there’s a chance for a franchise to make a comeback, when in fact there isn’t. There will never be an Eternal Champions 3! End of discussion. Lock thread.
Really. What’s the difference between this and all the SF4 threads which appear and get locked within a moments of time? Well at least with SF4, you know that there’s a higher possibly that one can be made. Not with this one here.
I’d really hate to come off as the pessimist, but if this is what it takes to get people to realize that there won’t be an Eternal Champions 3, then so be it. The last thing we need is a bunch of fighting game enthusiast trying to turn this into an Eternal Champions vs Virtua Fighter debate, which wasn’t the point. Stop. You’re not respecting the legacy of either franchise by going that route. Both franchises helped boost Sega’s income/stock (which is what it all comes down to the most) and Virtua Fighter still is. Very well, I may add.

Aside from my “Sammy owns Sega!” outburst, it’s clear we never expected an EC3. The thread asked if anyone had info about it besides what I was able to drag up. It’s become a thread discussing how stupid it was for SoJ to can EC3 and discussing EC in general, which I’m perfectly okay with. Besides the “Sammy” outburst, there’s no prayer or petition to get EC back.
And about your SF4 comparison, aside from the set-aparts between the two games, there’s a relevant difference.
EC3 was cut short before it could develop, and the series that replaced it has gone on to gain some popularity. People kind of know it’s dead, or you’d probably see a little more EC3 threads than this. With SF4, Capcom just won’t make it. While that’s a “truth” among us, it can still be challenged since we aren’t mindreaders. That’s why there have been enough SF4 threads to make them an instant lock.
