Today in a small announcement on IPL twitter they announced that Dead or Alive 5 would be the new fighting game title in the league. IPL already hosts titles such as Shootmania, League of Legends, and Starcraft2, now they are able to host all games on the spectrum of Esports. Hopefully more information will be shared within the coming weeks.

oh that is a good point I didn’t think of KOF, I was thinking AE, PSASBR, UMVC3, TTT2, MK, SC5/6?, GG, P4A. I mean was sort of an odd choice to pick DOA5, the CGS picked it the franchise as well and it did less then stellar numbers.
I believe it’s partly because TN approached IGN to help them with the game.
Also, DrDogg is with IPL.

Plenty of people play DOA, not that anyone here would dare step out of their comfort zone here on SRK.
In relation to the topic however it’s pretty much pointless to make any DOA related threads on this site op.
People seem to forget that games like Street Fighter AND Marvel have their fair share of tits. as well.
Its not that nobody wants to step out their comfort zone, its that even at high levels DOA is still a low level FG based on educated guesses in the form of counter holds. Blah. Its pretty and has big ass tits.
Its the 3rd Strike of 3D fighters, but Id argue that Holds take more skill than parrys due to whiff animations and 4 basic ones.
