Do you think KOF solidified a "Main" Place for EVO2K13?

I hope so, coming from a KoF background. I was surprised at the enthusiasm for it at EVO. Seeing a clutch HD combo ended with a NEOMAX is that deal.

It’ll get SCV’s spot most likely.

I think it could very well have. I certainly hope it has. I think a lot is going to ride on whether there is an update to the game. I partially hope there isn’t a new version or a 14 just yet so that we can have 13 back again.

My friends and I were at Evo this year and we didn’t know anything at all about KoF but decided to watch it anyway so we could secure a seat for Marvel and SF. By the finals we were standing and cheering with everyone else. We had such a good time we agreed that we were going to enter for KoF next year. Watching it at Evo was better at selling us on the game than all the ad campaigns they didn’t have. I have to think that there are tons of people out there like us that want to get in on this.

I’ve been supporting the KoF scene here is Socal for a little while now, since the arcade hack came out. I’ve probably been one of the most foolishly optimistic people regarding KoF around. With that said, the numbers involved in this year’s EVO for KoF blew even my expectations out of the water. Before the numbers were announced, I was HOPING for at least 500 entrants, even with free shirts. We got over 1000. I was HOPING for 30,000 stream viewers. We got over 90,000. Even being in attendance during the finals myself, I NEVER expected the entire community and internet to debate afterwards that the KoF grand finals was more hype than any other tournament. It’s like a dream.

Everywhere I go on facebook and twitter, I see new players talking about picking up the game. Honestly, as a die hard member of the KoF community, I don’t think any of us could ask for anything more. This EVO was so emotional for many of us KoF players, to see it all just explode like this after so much time just crowded around a small arcade cab with like 7-8 other people just a year ago.

With that said, I’m STILL optimistic. I honestly believe that more people will play the game, and support their local communities. This is the most important factor for whether or not KoFXIII comes back next year, and stays hype. Honestly, I’d bet my money on it happening.

If that hype didn’t solidify its spot at EVO i really don’t now what hype is. MexicanHorseHead > JahaCookin anyday

I’d like to think that myself, but 2011 BB finals were also crazy good and that didn’t help them much(disclaimer: I’m not trying to compare the two scenes, KOF fanbase is wayyyy more devoted to showing up and growing their game), anything can happen. I honestly think Bala losing was great for the overall game, the drama generated by him being toppled after spending months as the undisputed top dog was incredible.

I personally think it’ll be up there for sure next year, with TTT2. I do hope they can fit one more or another game slides out in favor of Skullgirls, but most every game represented itself very well this year.

Hype isn’t what it’s about anyways.

It’s about freshness/novelty, and it’s about turnout.

That’s kind of a theme though, people are looking at it totally from a ‘wow that was exciting to spectate!’ pov, and that’s one of the less important parts of the calculation.

Nigga must not know this is SRK.

KOF, Y U NOT HAVE DECENT NETCODE???

That’s what everybody is going to say after picking up dat great game! That’s what I said after picking it up!

This game is sooo good, but because of the missing playable online-mode, A LOT of players will drop it again soon…

Y I NOT HAVE COOL OFFLINE COMUNITY AROUND?

The netcode it perfect for me now. It’s almost as good as Blazblue

It’s been going well so far.

The netcode is on par with the Capcom fighters, there’s still that half second of delay. You just can’t find many people online who know how to play KOF.

As for solidifying KOF. Definitely. I hope this has a trickle-down effect and more local scenes will embrace the game.

@ Huggy bear

What did you do to make it as good as BB? Where are you from?

Where are YOU from?
AE has a very good netcode over here in middle and northern europe! If you play a full bar connection which are very often here, there is nearly no delay… Dont no where your half second comes from…

Dont wanna start a general netcode discussion but from what i heard and from my own discussion, kof’s netcode is ass in north america, south america and europe!
Only japan and korea can play dat game because of their sic internet

And that’s going to piss off new players!

Netcode in KOF seems to be more about lack of close proximity players than awful netcode. Hopefully EVO will change that.

Get offline! I’ve probably spent just as much money this year on gas as I have on plane tickets :frowning:

I’m in England. Runs smooth as anything for me.

Also. KOF has an offline scene here. And I’m loving it to pieces.

Upstate NY dude. I got a friend but he lives an hour away and my car recently died.

It varies from player to player online but when I get a good connection I feel roughly a half second of delay.

Online is good, IF you and your opponent are not on wireless and it’s 3 bars and up. Truth be told, sometimes 2 bars can be playable if they’re both wired, but 3 is definitely good. If you’re having trouble finding players with good connections, create Player Match rooms with a 3 bars and up requirement and wait in practice mode 'til someone joins. If they’re good, add them to your friend’s list. Simple.

If KOF is not at Evo2K13 it would be a damn shame. The series has lingered for years in the shadow of SF’s popularity despite being amazingly crafted and fun. It deserves a spot in the sunshine and I couldn’t be happier with the reception it’s had at EVO. I’ve already been seeing new level 1 players online. EVO GFs were the best commercial this game could ever get.

KOF is in there I’m pretty sure. Wiz/Cannons have to like the game, and Top 8 proved the game is a fanTASTic spectator sport and many argue it’s the best fighting game out. Also, Atlus USA is actually supporting the game, as well.

I don’t think entry numbers matter as much as people think because HUNDREDS of people entered for the shirt. Which is sad because KOF is amazing and IMO that shirt wasn’t a great look of KOF anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

MK9 made it back even though it’s a little more niche now, because the hardcore scene supporting it is still strong and WB is sponsoring it

So a half second delay is a good connection for you?
That’s a complete jump in that you can not anti air! How is that playable or even close to playable?
