Do you think FGs are a bit too saturated now?

I was gonna say that we should all just play DIVEKICK… then I saw SENOR FOOTSIES.

Oh god

When you have a person talking as if his opinion is fact, then you know that person is dumb. That’s you, clown.

Tell me more bitch

The use of the word bitch has raised your cool points a momentous amount.

ST
3S
CvS 1 & 2
MvC 1 & 2
TTT
Tekken 4 & 5 towards the end of that
KoF 98 & 2k2
Alpha 2 & 3
Soul Calibur 1 & 2
Virtua Fighter 4 & Evo

If you move to Japan, you’re also talking Guilty Gear as you said, Jojo’s, Vampire, and a few others.

It’s only an over saturation if you’re an adult with a full-time job and real-life shit to worry about, so in my case – yes, there are too many FGs out because I don’t have time to play them all LOL. The only way I deal with it is picking one to play for tournaments, one to “learn,” and one just to relax and casually play – knowing full well you’re never going to be competitive with it.

In my case, I play SF4 seriously. I keep up with that scene and nothing else. I’m learning 3S on both my Xbox 360 and Supercade, and I’m casually playing Tekken Tag 2. So, even with two extra games on my plate, 95% of my time still goes to SF4. I gave up on SFxT, and getting into Marvel and KOF13 now is just asking to be hella free. I don’t have time for that lol.

I know about those games too! I only specified main major tournament games. I think only ST, 3S, CvS2, and MvC2 were the dominant ones in tournaments. I think occasionally there was Tekken and Soul Calibur, but not on the same consecutive growth and acceptance, right?

I did in fact forgot to include Tekken 6, but T6 came out in 2007. And Soul Calibur, did these games make it to the majors such as EVO and stay there as well? I wouldn’t know, I was still in middle school playing CS 1.6 around that time.

But yeah, maybe I’m just getting older. I used to have so much time to play games. It all seems like it’s gone now, therefore my passion to get good and destroy people has kinda gone away. I only had that passion when I was playing CvS2 and SF4.

Trying my very best to get that passion for DoA5, but…

Evo wasn’t the only tournament back then.
East Coast Championships started in like 1995 or something. I think 98 had Alpha 2, SF32I, Super Turbo, and MvC. Hyper Fighting made a comeback for the year after that, and Alpha 3 was there as well and saw over 100 players.
Tekken Tag 1 was in the 2000 ECC and CvS1 was in the 2k1 ECC

Evo 2k3 had Virtua Fighter 4, Tekken 4, Tekken Tag, Guilty Gear XX, and Soul Calibur 2, all of which came back in 2k4. Tekken 5 was in 2k5 and I think VF was taken out at that year, and XX was replaced with Reload.

Then there’s NEC and MWC as well that go back.

MWC goes back to 1993, for a Super SF2 NC tournament. But becomes legit in 1997

There were a lot of games played.

You’d be surprised at the median age of SRKers if you believe this.

There’s alot more than that. There’s Super Monday Night Combat, Awesomenauts, Demigod, Realm of the Titans, Rise of the Immortals and those are the ones that pop up from the top of my head. I’m sure there will be plenty more to come.

There’s not that many fighters out right now. There’s too many idiots who talk and argue about the merits of each fighting game, only talk shit on forums, or only stream monster it up and pretend like they’re a part of something.

We need players. Actual players that show up and contribute to the scene, rather than hold non-constructive arguments and post twitch icons on everything they say that they think is funny.

Fighting games have always been too saturated. Its just now more random people play them after SFIV so the issue is more glaring on message forums and such.

These threads are always split between

“How can more options be a bad thing?”

And

“More options means less players playing each game”

It will go round in circles around these two sides with people calling each other scrubs until it fizzles out only to be posted with slightly different wording next week.

no one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to play them all.

But if you don’t play it for at least 1 day you don’t have the right to complain about the game

Not everyone should be playing the same games anyway. I’d rather have 10 dedicated players playing a game they really love than 100 “flavor of the month” players who will drop it after 3 months for the next shit.
The level of the scenes now for some games is totally higher not only because they played the game for 1-2 years now but also because all the bandwagon players are long gone, and only the most hardcore ones stayed.

I guess it comes down to what you prefer- Easier and bigger pot money or more fierce competition.
