For US citizens it’s currently preorder on Amazon at $42.99 instead of $60.00 so if you feel like full price is too much pre order now and you’ll have money left over for the DLC.
But we don’t actually know if it’s half assed yet because the game isn’t even out, all we’ve seen are two builds of varying development. Indeed we know the roster could be better, but we’ll have to see at Evo what the nature of the game is as that will be the best opportunity to make a final judgement. They might have took the criticism on board and sorted some of the stuff out by now. For all we know they’ll come to Evo with a new trailer and a more complete build both graphically and mechanically that makes more people feel happy about the game.
People should ignore that the story demo ever happened, that’s the kind of product that would get sent off to the press as a PREVIEW build where they know as instructed by Capcom that the game is incomplete and to judge it as a concept solely on certain factors. It was in no way a REVIEW build which would be sent to the press at the back end of the development period for final review purposes on release.
That’s the difference between the two, top and bottom is that the story demo should never have reached the public, it should have stayed in house and only reached members of the press, the only thing the public should have played was the Vs build.
Major PR fuck up, Disney Marvel sticking their nose in, devs bouncing off walls. A nightmare of a development but hopefully a dream of a product.
That still doesn’t take away my point in that Marvel will cut off the funding for the game and thus they won’t have the chance to lose anymore by wasting needless money on a dead game.
HAHAHAHAHA…You cannot be serious.
You think they will fix the game’s many, MANY problems within a month? Are you high?! This is just like the people who supported DmC: Devil May Cry stating that the game will be just fine after we seen the numerous gameplay videos months before the game was released saying they was going to fix everything when the demo came out…and the demo showed that nothing was fixed and they said wait for the game to be released as then they will fix everything…and the game came out and NOTHING WAS FIXED.
A game goes gold when it hits 2 months to it’s release, there’s no way they are going to fix anything, especially after we mainly only seen them actually fix up the models and such for SFV while it was still within it’s year long Beta.
It’s hard to say what Marvel will do. Capcom says they plan to support SFV to 2020 despite the bad PR. With Marvel it might just be a 50/50 over whether they see the money and eSports exposure they are getting is worth it. Like SFV once the game is in enough eSports stuff they most likely will just stick around so their name and characters show up on TBS or ESPN every 6 months.
Yeah and none of that will matter with the casual consumer base who will see how shit the game is and while E-Sports will have something to salivate over and the American FGC has another Capcom game they can sleep with, you guys will end up crying when Capcom ultimately decides to let both games sleep for a REALLY long time just like before.
The game is SFxT. Just with more elaborate combos, more flexible tags and Marvel characters.
On current topic, as long the game sells well (which I expect it to- I don’t like the gameplay but will purchase it myself), Marvel will continue supporting it. Umvc3 had bad press because it was released full price within the same calender year as Mvc3 then Marvel declared they won’t updated it despite saying they would be at the second Evo and asking for community feedback on balance updates. But the community kept the game alive and sales started to grow a couple of years ago or so.
That said, if people like the gameplay, I really don’t get what they dislike about the game so much that they wouldn’t play it and would want it to ‘fail’.
I’m questioning if the gameplay is even fun using SfxT as an example…
Seems the emphasis so far as been fly/unfly loops from some gameplay videos. I wonder if they made it easier from Umvc3, the hard part was not fucking up and getting a TAC or going to fast and getting a special instead of a normal.
They made it harder, there are more movement options in the game but things like air dashing across the screen are significanly harder to execute. Currently ff is the superior form of dashing as opposed to pp, although I think short hot might make that not as much of an issue.
It’d be hilarious if Marvel commissions ArcSys to make the next Marvel fighting game after Capcom flops. FGC might have Capcom loyalty but Marvel sure don’t.
Loyalty might not be the best word to use in business discussions. But Marvel have a 20+ years history with Capcom. So loyalty is as close a description of their relationship as any other word.
At worse, I would expect it to be another 11 years before they commission another Marvel vs fighting game.
I wouldn’t call it loyalty at all. Marvel going with Capcom is simply a safe bet. MvC series has a base and most successful when it comes to fighting games. Games like Marvel Nemesis and Avengers: Battle for Earth were failures.
There’s no TAC now, so you don’t risk getting a TAC since you’re not using “S” to fly. Fly itself now uses the traditional 214+KK input, so the main risk of getting a special is if you don’t hit KK correctly, or if you’re playing Carol, don’t hit the 214 correctly (not that it matters, since her KK “lightning attack” can be comboed out of and has its own loops).
